  1. Unless you're unlucky like me and your salesperson refuses to give accurate updates. Mine claimed that it was still in processing until the day I sent them my window sticker. By then it was already scheduled to a day. it was scheduled to a week several weeks before that. But yes, ask your dealer first. FordService is monitored by only one person for the most part.
  2. Contrary to popular believe most brake squeal is caused by the vibration of the brake pad and the caliper. It has nothing to do with the rotors scraping the pads. The only surefire way is to put a thin coating of "brake grease" on the back side of each pad between the pad and the caliper. Do not grease the side that contacts the rotors. Once you add the grease, the tiny air gaps that create the sounds are filled with grease and you will have silent brakes.
  3. PM FordService one a week for updates. That's the most reliable way.
  4. I got a response from FordService that they have to look into it further. Bruce, as shown above seems to be confident that the Titanium comes with the suede inserts if you get 301A. I also got another email response from Ford saying that there is no mention of suede in documents about the Titanium. But they didn't explain why the preview in the build your own tool and window sticker seems to indicate suede. So yeah, the jury is still out. Somebody knows for sure, but as with any large corporation, you have to ask a million people just to find the right person.
  5. My order was scheduled to a day officially not just a week anymore so that is exciting
  6. My wife's toyota corolla will do the same thing in freezing weather. My best guess is that the higher shift points in rpm help warm the fluids up faster.
  7. Well there are pluses and minuses. On the plus side, it's sold as an "upgraded" option. So technically more bragging rights. On the down side, it's harder to clean. If push came to shove, and I could chose between the two for no cost difference, I'd personally chose leather. But it's not a deal breaker by any means because Ford puts the Miko Suede in their high end models so the market probably perceives it as high end and it will increase resale value by a couple bucks, hopefully. I like the look and it'll probably be more comfortable to sit on in the summer if you're wearing shorts.
  8. Yeah who knows. Hopefully in a week Ford will have updated the order guides and their web site to reflect the proper information.
  9. BIG NEWS. Titanium with 301A comes with suede inserts. Please wait. An operator will be with you shortly. Bruce says: Hello. This is Bruce. How can I assist you with your build today? CAB says: hi Bruce, I noticed when you add 301A to the Edge Titanium and have ebony leather, the interior preview changes to show suede inserts. But if you have ceramic interior and switch between 300A and 301A the preview does not change Bruce says: You get the Suede inserts on the Titanium when you get the upgraded perforated seats. CAB says: but I don't see anything mentioning suede in the feature list for Titaniums Bruce says: This issue has been documented to be fixed. The Suede is included on the perforated seats in the Titanium and the leather seats on Sport. CAB says: So the Sport for 2016 no longer has suede inserts? Bruce says: Yes, the Titanium and SPort models both have suede inserts. It is optional on the Titanium and standard on the Sport. CAB says: ahh ok. Thanks for confirming!
  10. It's still the generic build date (which is apparently updated once the vehicle has actually been built). I know it doesn't matter, but I was hoping to get the build date earlier than ETIS could provide.
  11. Otherwise you can try this: http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=ADDVINHERE This link is still not working for me even though researchmaniacs is already. They are using the forddirect database, which may be more up-to-date than the ford inventory database.
  12. If you have a VIN you can go here: http://researchmaniacs.com/Ford/TrackFactoryCarOrders.html The rule of thumb is that the window sticker won't be generated until about 6 days before production. I think mine was generated early due to the holidays. My build is still about 2 weeks out at a minimum.
  13. The only websites I know of are: www.ordertracking.ford.com www.cotus.ford.com www.cotusb.ford.com and wwwqa.cotus.ford.com None of them can find my car by either order # or VIN and I have had my VIN for several weeks and I already can generate a window sticker. My build is scheduled for early January. I am not sure if those sites will ever work for me. I'd recommend PM'ing FordService once a week at most to get updates. Tricia is great and always very friendly and knowledgeable.
  14. Just an update, my dealer is confused about this. So is ford's customer service phone #. I have a PM into FordService. I am sure Tricia will find the correct answer.
  15. Maybe the US and Canada get different trims. My window sticker definitely shows suede.....
  16. Researchmechanics.com has a great tool to get your window sticker for free before it shows up on inventory.ford.com (http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=VINGOESHERE). http://researchmaniacs.com/Ford/TrackFactoryCarOrders.html They state that at the top of the window sticker there is a number starting with a 2 or 1 depending on whether or not the vehicle was built. The rest of the digits indicate the build date or scheduled build date. However, it appears Ford Edge window stickers do not have this information. The date towards the bottom is just the date the window sticker was created and another date shows when it was printed. here's an example: http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=2FMTK4K89FBC41365 Is there any way to tell the build date from the stickers for the Edge?
  17. look at the window stickers I posted. Look at the interior color section in both. They are different. Also go to the build your own tool and compare it to the preview for the Sport interior if you don't believe me. It is a big oversight for it not to be in the order guide. But it's in both the window sticker and on the build your own tool. I'd say this is pretty official.
  18. It appears that for 2016 the Titainums with 301A or 302A get the same suede inserts as the Sport if you get the ebony leather color.... 2015 MY window sticker http://www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/windowsticker.pdf?token=Jb%2FnAvVH%2F6wMwhMz9rufyj6Ll%2BhtpHm4i3h%2FpjUTc07rfvlG7UxqH3uAdyy2NUE8S4uJbq7ygggrQ%2FuxOi7AVps8geYyC2nvkt%2F5ncbJq55efCp9f2lKS7QxmMknJkJZmQI1vyTpcdSDYpZkoaGeo7MDocE9%2BURtM%2F%2FiQtDhteo%3D 2016 MY window sticker http://www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/windowsticker.pdf?token=%2BsAq3gOOxyJSkuO3uy2yBIFUa67Mwe4XcjSbktFuOsJlBNwEL4mwfVI6GKCboU5shU140b6vh%2BHgATlwjAc3ijvlvhfnWEixQ9TPck1a%2FYe501MjTXQzaYrj9tZSDolZ%2BkKSS%2F7gO1PmwW%2Be8KUH2KFCNU0qPqMmOrG6uEqZGQ0%3D The build your own tool confirms this as well. See the screenshots below: The first attachment is without the suede and 300A The second attachment is with 301A
  19. apparently they added some sound deadening material to the front windows... they also have two new blues, a new black and they dropped the guard and old black. The heated steering wheel is now part of the cold weather package and is removed from 301A
  20. In general 20" wheels will provide a rougher ride than a 18" wheel given that they have the same total height and the 18" has a taller sidewall than the 20" sidewall.
  21. My dealer cant keep edges in stock, they probably have a larger allocation due to the fact they sell so many.
  22. I don't believe any custom sold orders are part of job 1. They will continue to extend job 1 as long as it takes for them to get x number of days of defect free builds. All of those builds are dealer stock orders. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
  23. I know. I gave up after my last attempt a week ago asking if I had a VIN yet. He said he was checking every day and there was no status update. So now I know he is never checking because it only gets updated once a week on Thursday until it goes into production. If I know when the orders are updated, he does too.
  24. I would love to be able to use the online ford order tracking system, but it hasn't found my order since day one using either the order # or VIN. I have tried 4 different sites at various levels of "beta" testing www.ordertracking.ford.com www.cotus.ford.com www.cotusb.ford.com wwwqa.cotus.ford.com It's kind of silly that I have to bug FordService every week to get an update since scheduling happens once a week. I am not quite sure why the online Ford tracking tool isn't linked to accurate tracking information especially since it's been around for 5+ years. I heard rumors that it only updates once the order is actually in production, but that makes me wonder why you can even enter in a dealer order # since you get the VIN weeks before production even starts!
  25. My build is also scheduled for the week of January 11. My order was placed on November 9. I signed the deal on November 7. I was a bit upset that they took so long to place the order, but it sounds like it got scheduled pretty early so I am not too upset. My order priority was 12.
