  1. I was poking around fordparts.com and it looks like the 2016 assembly is different: 2016: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=VkSEkUGtkOBGrMgEVs91Ig%3d%3d&id=341439593&m=2&search=true&year=2016&make=Ford&model=Edge 2007-2014 http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=m2mGzyKu0A5ID%2fU7DMLVRg%3d%3d&id=342858319&m=2&search=true&year=2009&make=Ford&model=Edge The exploded parts diagrams use many of the same part numbers, but the shape of the parts is clearly different. That's enough evidence to me that they redesigned the transfer case for 2015. The transfer cases also appear to differ between engines in 2015, where it was common for the previous generation: 2016: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2015&m=Ford&mo=Edge&initSearch=1&partNo=7251# 2007-2014: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2011&m=Ford&mo=Edge&initSearch=1&partNo=7251#Search
  2. 2007-2014 transfer case (2.0L and 3.5L) AT4Z 7251-D: http://stores.revolutionparts.com/levittownfordoemparts.com/oe-ford/at4z7251d This apparently is the 7th revision of this part. So it is not the same part as the 2015s http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-Ford-Power-Take-Off-PTO-Differential-Transfer-Case-Unit-AWD-UPDATED-/251405265985
  3. Quick question, has there been any history of 2015's with high miles showing PTU leaks? Has anyone from Ford confirmed/denied that the power transfer unit in the 2015/2016 model is the same as was in the first generation Edge? If this was a known issue, which it seems to be. I don't see why Ford wouldn't fix it during a major redesign.
  4. My review will be short. But I do have to say that the fit and finish of the 2016 Edge I received is by far the best of any vehicle I have ever owned. There is a microscopic misalignment of one of the rear doors. It is hung slightly lower. But I would not complain about it. I did not notice any bowing of any panels at the edges due to improper torque or any seams between panels with uneven gaps. I am very impressed. There are a lot of nice little touches that make me realize Ford put a lot of though into the design of this vehicle: The USB ports are lit so it is easy to find the USB slots. There is a light in the center storage bin for phones etc. The cupholders have spring loaded inserts that keep cups of all sizes snug. The remote start heats up the car in just a few minutes and the seats are nice and toasty Sync 3 is very intuitive and we were able to find our way around it within 15 minutes and set up everything the way we wanted. The reclining rear seats are a nice touch. it is very quiet in the interior and I hear very little road noise. The 2.0L Ecoboost has a lot of kick and does not feel like a 4cyl by any means. If you want to feel like you are driving a 4cyl, rent a Kia Sorento. Sync Services has a nice feature that shows the speed limit where you are driving. There is one thing I don't like though. The color of the headlights does not match that of the daytime running lights. (They probably only match if you get the HID lights in the highest trim levels)
  5. I picked up my TGTBB Edge on Thursday. I took some white balanced pictures for the most accurate representation of what it really looks like. It's a stunning color. It has green undertones that show up in full sunlight. I took these pictures on an overcast day.
  6. There are some benefits to the franchise model. I read this in the paper, so it must be true Anyway, the biggest benefit is that franchise owners typically live in the community that they work and they tend to support community financially more so than a corporation would if the sales offices were owned by a corporation. How many times do you see car dealer's logos on local sports stadiums. I see it a lot, as one example. Dealers specifically can make the process of getting all that paperwork required to finance a car and license it done all in one place. This adds some value to a lot of buyers. This may not be a value to most, but to me the biggest reason I love talking to a salesperson rather than buying online, you can negotiate your price and get creative with your deal to get a package that provides more value to yourself. For example, if you buy a car at a dealer, if you don't negotiate on price alone, you can get some nice things thrown into the deal such as free maintenance, detailing, extended warranty for less than if you were to purchase those items separately. To set up a system online to craft these creative packages would be pretty hard because different people value the same item differently. If you negotiate on price alone, you can still get a better deal than if there was one "online" pre-negotiated price or a public auction site where others bid against you. The biggest negatives about car dealers in my opinion are: 1. The sales tactics and how many dealers try to squeeze every penny out of you by adding fees or "options" that are not on the factory invoice. 2. The lack of transparency is also another problem. You can't easily track your order, figuring out what the dealer paid for the car is not straight forward and varies regionally and by sales volume etc. (but how many things do you buy do you know the price that the seller paid wholesale anyway). 3. The last major negative I see is having a dealer is another layer of cost that is added to the car. You have to pay the salaries of all those salespeople. Lastly, even if the dealerships were corporate owned, there's nothing to say that similar sales tactics wouldn't be used. There may be an option to buy it online, but most people still like to get that personal touch when buying something that costs tens of thousands of dollars.
  7. do you get to keep your 20" wheels due to the dealer's mistake? If so, I'd get summer tires put on those 21" wheels. Keep the 20"s for winter and let the salt eat the wheels you don't care about.
  8. My dealer just called. My Edge is delivered. They need the day to take off the protective shipping film and clean up the car. I'll be picking it up tomorrow. My ETA before being built was 1/28. It was built a day early and the ETA changed to be 1/16-1/20. So it arrived on time.
  9. I think it's the luck of the draw. Your dealer either did not have allocation or there were a lot of orders in before yours. It's in their best interest to process orders as fast as possible because they get paid when the deal is done. And it's also in their best interest not to tell you if they have a small allocation or orders in front of you, because then you'd just walk. I suppose it just is how it is. Maybe you could have them search nearby inventory and they can find an Edge as configured already in stock by a nearby dealer and have them eat the cost to ship.
  10. Nice! that's the hard part about getting a new car in the middle of winter. You wan't to keep it clean, but it's impossible with the snow, salt and sand! Post some pics when you pick it up too!
  11. So my dealer still hasn't delivered my '16 yet. But the burning plastic smell that you could smell from the inside and outside of the '15 that I test drove yesterday for the heck of it was very concerning. The heater was blasted to help the car warm up. It had 20 miles on it. I hope that smell wears off quickly. I have never experienced such a strong burning smell in any other new car I have test driven. But this was by far the coldest day I have ever driven a car with under a couple thousand miles on the odometer. Maybe it's normal. Do any of you that have your '16s notice a strong burning plastic smell?
  12. The tool definitely works. In general you won't see a window sticker until a week or so before your car is built. From what I hear the window sticker is generated the day the dealer gets invoiced for your order and your order is scheduled to a day and not just a week any more. Holidays may extend this time frame. For example my window sticker was generated on 12/23 and my order was scheduled to be built on 1/11. I had the window sticker for awhile before my buld because of the 1 week holiday shut down and according to a ford Marketing manager, they weren't scheduling any builds for two weeks. Mine got scheduled early for that reason.
  13. There is a thread, this may still apply: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17808-ive-got-a-rattle/?hl=rattle
  14. You can get Kona blue and Cognac. You can't get Too Good to be Blue and cognac, however.
  15. yes, exactly it's scheduled to be built on 1-27. Did you get that output from a publicly accessible tool?
  16. I'm still driving a 2 door coupe and I don't know what I am gong to do when I need to have 2 car seats. My wife is getting the Edge and I'm going to keep her old car as a winter beater, but I don't want to drive it all year long. If only I had won that powerball jackpot...
  17. Turns out my vehicle was built on 1-8 instead of 1-11. So they appear to be slightly ahead of schedule. It was already in transit by 1-11.
  18. I know this one! WOT means wide open throttle.
