From HextallS550 on mustang6g.  There is a thread about 140 pages for a ton of info going from 4” to 8” but for my situation the electrical architecture is different.

That is because he mainly deals with 15 plus Mustangs which runs CGEA1.3...he doesn't know everything.  I have been dealing with SYNC stuff since 2013 and I don't know everything either, always room to learn.  Yes the CAN BUS system is different.  It's programmable though.  I suspect Ford is writing the older can bus out of the newer software which is why dual climate won't work with 3.4 via SYNC (works fine if you have hard controls though) as I stated earlier.  The newer generation of APIMs were never installed in the older can bus system from the factory so they have no reason to keep supporting it.   I don't recommend your specific APIM be used in your vehicle but that doesn't mean basic things won't work.  If you stay with 3.3 you will be perfectly fine as long as it is programmed properly.

This is as built codes I figured I'd give that a try and do hard reset.  Did not fix anything.  At the beginning, I did play around and got to this.  Same issues though.  No Power then turn car on, but have to use power button on radio, then sync comes on.  Have to turn off the same way.  Also, climate screen is there, but nothing works and no temp numbers are there.  Here is the latest APIM codes:

    Sure is frustrating...

I reached out to Dan at syncprogramming and he states he believes all my issues are programming related.  Let’s find out…

Yeah those are way wrong...it has to be programmed specifically for your vehicle which it clearly is not.

If you messed with the ACM programming that needs to be changed back to what it was originally as well.

There are cheaper places to have it done too.

2012 Ford Edge SEL.  Upgrade from Sync 2 to Sync 3 Version 3.3, Build 18201.  Got the Sync 3 from salvaged 2019 Edge

    As Built
    APIM      7D0-01-01     2221     9000     610D
    APIM      7D0-01-02     0003     4000     021F   The 4000 is strange as this means it's a diesel (I think)
    APIM      7D0-02-01     5553     0004     0086
    APIM      7D0-02-02     0000     0000     00DB
    APIM      7D0-02-03     0000     DC
    APIM      7D0-03-01     0052     3900     0066
    APIM      7D0-04-01     0103     0200     00E2
    APIM      7D0-04-02     0001     DE

If this is what you are using for SYNC3, its way off.

  4. @TxBucki if you can't figure out the proper APIM programming there are a few sources on the internet that can supply proper programming for a fee.  You many want to consider that.

Also be aware that with an APIM running 3.4 software your dual climate will not work correctly from the SYNC unit and as Ford pushes out updates more features may not work right as that generation APIM was never intended to be used in a CGEA1.2 vehicle such as your Edge.  So if you upgrade from 3.3 that will not function right.

  5. Only the 2.7 has a pulley setup as photographed for the 15 Edge.  I have no doubt its a 2.7.   The work to swap in a completely different size motor would have been way too much work.  They put the belt on the wrong.  It just needs to be put on the right way.

  6. I hate belt routing but that looks wrong to me.  Isn't the alternator (ALT in the pic) the small pulley.  You have it running to the tensioner and the idler pulley from the alternator.  The diagram doesn't show that.

    Shouldn't it be like this?

??? I actually asked a customer at Walmart to take my keys with him to return his cart, 5 cars away, so I could see if my car would start. MY CAR STARTED! Called my dealership and my service person was shocked and said that my car shouldn't start unless the key fob was in the car. I switched to my second fob when I got home and today, same thing.

Search the vehicle thoroughly.  There is a fob in it somewhere.

As mentioned is there an aftermarket remote start installed?  Also I think there is a way to tell through the dash settings how many keys are programmed to it.  May want to look that up and see if that is possible to check.

Well, it is not the Auto Stop Eliminator causing the issues. Here is the response I received back from Auto Stop.:

    "Hi Chris,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the Edge.

No, I'm confident our device is not related to these issues. The AE003 is a simple analog device, not a CAN device.

When you press the auto start/stop button on your vehicle, it mechanically touches a signal wire with 12v to a ground wire. The signal wire goes from 12v to ground to tell the vehicle to toggle the auto start/stop. Our device just does the same thing. It takes the signal wire and momentarily connects it to ground to toggle the start/stop. If start/stop isn't toggling, then the device isn't actively doing anything.

It sounds like the tech missed a step that is causing the U2100 code (Initial Configuration Not Complete). Anytime this code is present, the start/stop will be disabled. It's how these vehicles are programmed and has nothing to do with our device. This is why when the device was removed, nothing changed.

    TRL Automotive"

So with the Auto Stop removed I spent the morning back at the dealers. They said the U2100 is still present, and asked for more time to disconnect the battery and wait 20 minutes and then try to flash the trailer module again. RESULT, now has a different code! They left todays ticket open and are contacting Ford again. They think Ford will say replace the Trailer Module.

    Stay tuned. Chris

Tell them they need to program the as built data for the TRM.

Well it appears that the Auto Stop Eliminator caused an issue after the trailering module update. Tech got a U2100 code after update that he could not clear and now auto stop does not work. Sort of a yeah! I removed the module and it still is screwed up.  The Trailer lights do not come on with the vehicle off, so we got something right. They were waiting for a reply from the Ford hotline. I have the vehicle back.

Your eliminator did not cause this issue.  The as built data didn't auto program during the trailer module update.  They need to write the as built data to the trailer module, if I was working on it, i'd do it twice, clear the codes and see if it comes back.  It shouldn't.
