  1. Service Manual Operation Info:

    Rear Window Washer

When the rear window washer switch is activated, the SCCM sends the request to the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly through the LIN. The driver side windshield wiper motor assembly energizes the rear washer relay (located in the BJB) and activates the rear window wiper motor. When the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly activates the rear window wash relay, voltage is provided to the washer pump, directing washer fluid to the rear window. When the switch is released, the rear window wiper motor continues to operate for 3 additional wipes and then turns off.

Ground for the washer pump is provided through the windshield washer relay within the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly.

    Washer Pump

The washer pump is controlled by the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly. The front and rear washer system share the same washer reservoir and a bi-directional washer pump. The washer pump delivers washer fluid to the windshield when the ECU in the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly activates the internal windshield washer relay, which provides voltage to the washer pump. Ground for the washer pump is provided through the rear washer relay (located in the BJB). When activated, the washer pump delivers washer fluid to the windshield.

When the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly energizes the rear washer relay, the rear washer relay provides voltage to the washer pump. Ground for the washer pump is provided through the windshield washer relay (internal to the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly). When activated, the pump delivers washer fluid to the rear window.

2011 Ford Edge, my menu switches to settings then sound on its own. I have researched how to access the "hidden" diagnostic screem however cannot get it to come up. I did a hard reset as well. My back up camera quit working aprox a year after I bought it. Unfortinately could not afford the warranty.  I read about the 2013 update. How can I tell if my APM just needs an update or replaced?

The camera is a camera issue, not an APIM issue.  As for the display switching to different screens on its own...sounds like it is getting a touchscreen input which would mean there is pressure on the display or the display is bad.  Do you hear it beep when it does this?  What happens when you try to touch the screen to do something?  Probably not an APIM issue.

    My VIN 2FMPK4AP6GBC29640
I cannot find any information about the frequency of the tire pressure system. I had a Ford Edge Sport (Bj 2016) imported from the USA to Germany. I have now put on winter tires, but with the local 433 MHz. Now the tire monitor reports that there is no pressure. However, I haven't learned the new tires yet because I don't know if I need 315 MHZ. If the 433 mhz are recognized, my next question, how do I learn these 4 tires to the BC? Thanks for a reply.

Your specific vehicle build info states

    •  Tire Pressure Sensors - 315 MHZ

  4. it took me a bit to get it setup and working but it works really well.  Two things I had to do were first go into the settings of SHORTCUTS and turn on allow untrusted shortcuts and then I had to setup a dummy trusted shortcut before it would allow any untrusted shortcuts to be add.  then i went in and deleted that shortcut once I had everything working.

Let us know how it works for you.

  5. I take no credit for this.  Someone who is much smarter than me developed this:

Run these from your iOS device.  This method uses the iOS SHORTCUT APP

Required Shortcuts: Install the next three in order AND RUN EACH ONE as you go along to ensure you have your settings correctly filled out. The rest of the shortcuts build on top of these 3 so once they’re working, you should be good to go for the rest.

FordPass Settings (https://www.icloud.com/.../9bc1eb69fef84afebdf14c1e26db2166) - This sets up your account information as well as the VIN of the car you want to control. It also includes hardcoded values for clientId and applicationId which were pulled from the git repository.

Get FordPass Token (https://www.icloud.com/.../16b5984efea8462e9897c1e58a8d9560) - This uses your login credentials and returns an auth token.

Get Vehicle Status (https://www.icloud.com/.../75dfc5615d1f43e485866c12661b0e8d) - This returns a detailed JSON containing a large amount of information about your car and is used in many of the shortcuts below. I only built shortcuts that every vehicle should support but if you run this on it’s own, it outputs the JSON so you can look through what else is available.

    Feature Shortcuts:

Start My Car (https://www.icloud.com/.../52e05449cdc24596959dca93ee6bf20c) - This will send a start command to your car but will not guarantee the car actually started. It typically takes 15-30 seconds before your car will actually start but you can check if it is running using the “Is My Car Running?” Shortcut below.

Stop My Car (https://www.icloud.com/.../4f8d3221632c4a8095cf8e9d66eeb6a5) - This will stop your cars remote start

Is My Car Running?(https://www.icloud.com/.../99105621a5b2406f91ef49ce173c9661) - This will let you know whether or not your car is running due to a remote start command.

Is My Car Locked? (https://www.icloud.com/.../ac1656d2cd9c411589cdbd413df67f17) - This will let you know if your car is locked or unlocked

What Is My Cars Range? (https://www.icloud.com/.../5c5bf7fc8cbd4e17893f5c36475cb437) - Range left in miles

How Many Miles Are On My Car? (https://www.icloud.com/.../254d268ba9df4e84b93380894dfe5567) - Odometer reading in miles

What Is My Cars Oil Life? (https://www.icloud.com/.../c4eb2605a4fa4b8fb1fa8fd16541c965) - Oil life as a percentage

Where’s My Car? (https://www.icloud.com/.../cc151cb9229a49119814bd72b981be7b) - This opens Apple Maps with a pinned location of your car

    Notes:
This may only work in the US based on the API naming but I would assume these could be updated with the corresponding regional APIs if someone can find them
These may also work on Lincoln Vehicles but someone with a Lincoln would have to confirm that
Run each shortcut manually through the ShortCuts APP the first time to set up permissions
The Ford APIs may change/disappear at anytime and may not always be reliable
This works for the FordPass APP only

  6. It is an APP problem that other uses are also experiencing.  If you have an Apple device there is a way to setup shortcuts to use voice controls or you can use the shortcuts themselves which I have found to be much faster than actually having to open the FordPass APP.

  7. To follow up on what I said the service manual says this when replacing the front camera: "Follow the instructions on the scan tool to configure the front parking aid camera."

To be perfectly honest, that is rather vague and there is nothing that jumps out in IDS (thats the scan tool/software/computer the dealer uses) as something to configure the front camera so I could easiliy see this step being skipped over.

When the camera is replaced though a procedure called LIN Module Initialization needs to be done.  This is under the diagnosis section for the front camera not being configured:

      • PERFORM the front camera configuration using a diagnostic scan tool under Electrical>Service Functions>LIN New Module Initialization.

Maybe be specific when you talk to them and sound like you know your stuff and ask them if they used IDS to do the LIN New module initialization after they installed the new camera.

I doubt 2 new cameras would be bad.

just bought an 2020 edge sel yesterday, woke up this morning and had condensation in the right tail light, salesman said the have vents in them, i think BS

It's not BS, they are made that way.  It is covered in your owner's manual.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

Condensation in the Exterior Front Lamps and Rear Lamps Exterior front lamps and rear lamps have vents to accommodate normal changes in air pressure. Condensation can be a natural by-product of this design. When moist air enters the lamp assembly through the vents, there is a possibility that condensation can occur when the temperature is cold. When normal condensation occurs, a fine mist can form on the interior of the lens. The fine mist eventually clears and exits through the vents during normal operation. Clearing time may take as long as 48 hours under dry weather conditions.

Examples of acceptable condensation are: • The presence of a fine mist (no streaks, drip marks or large droplets). • A fine mist covers less than 50% of the lens.

Examples of unacceptable condensation are: • A water puddle inside the lamp. • Streaks, drip marks or large droplets present on the interior of the lens.

If you see any unacceptable condensation, have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer.

    DaMiFo,

Thank you for taking the time to respond.   I can get it apart, so I can buy a replacement, and the only thing I am not sure I understand is the flashing of the cars AsBuilt data on to the unit with FORScan.  I will look that up and see where it will take me.

Shame I can't trust my local Ford Dealers.  Thanks again for the help.  Best regards!

I can provide you with an up to date unit that is the proper one programmed for your car through the official dealer process.  Send me a message if you are interested.

  10. The bi directional remote start utilizes the VSS module which is an add on post factory module that gets mounted under the dash usually in the area above the brake/gas pedal.  Sounds to me like you have the standard antenna which plugs into the TPMS in the rear cargo area and that is one directional for use with the IKT's (original style key fobs).

No everything comes on as it should but when I go to start the vehicle nothing happens. But it’s weird because it started working this morning with no problem

I don't have access to the service manual right now but the transmission may have a sensor/switch on it that senses if it is in park or not and will not start if the switch faulty.  Just a thought.
