  1. I can hear you knocking, but you can't come in. OK, so I've an appointment with the dealership next Tuesday for AGAIN the driver door ajar warning sensor/switch. They fixed it once and it's back again. Drives me nuts... it can't be ignored! It'll ding-ding with every slow/stop that I come to. With the factory 60 k almost up in 10 days I'm having this done AND I'm going to have them look over the filler breather/vent tube for the petrol fill. Thunk-thunk after a fill up. I tried last fill up and notice I could fill a heck of a lot additional fuel and it never over flowed. I also notice that the fuel gauge registered higher on the console display. Usually I've been not pushing the "extra" petrol into the tank after the first click stop of the pump at the station. So, I'm wondering is there anyone out there that has had their Edge looked at for this issue? What exactly was found and the resolve that was implemented? Or Is this even an issue? Vehicle runs fine and fuel consumption inline with others at about ~9.5L per 100km's or 29~30 mpg highway and 12~13L or ~22 mpg in town. Is this something that I could look at for the vent /breather tube? I'm handy and not scared to take things on myself. I simply need to know where I might start looking for "this potential" problem with EVAP? I recall years ago being told by my mechanic buddy that when filling fuel, "Don't pump and pump to round up the cash value to even it as you risk overflow of raw fuel back to the EVAP canister with the charcoal and that can damage it and it is a costly part to replace." Any thoughts anyone? Thnaks
  2. Oh no way! I have a royal ass and it deserves the best! I'm thinking maybe fashion them in the best damn cushion for my shop perch! LMRAO (laugh my royal ass off)
  3. WOW! For those moulded blocks? Vanity can be pricey I guess.
  4. I've moved through every menu item available on the left panel with the multi directional hat and cannot find any selection to set the heated seats. There's individual settings for the front and rear defrost and one for last setting or auto for climate but that's it. I didn't purchase my SEL with the remote start, rather it was added by my Ford dealership as a plug and play after the fact. The remote starter harness along with the hood pin switch were installed together. It's great, but I'm sure that I feel my butt being toasty upon first entering the vehicle after a couple of minutes.
  5. Just wondering, I was watching Mac T's transmission flush video and thinking, "Where's his sexy foam blocks that Ford has placed on top of the valve covers and intake manifold?" Had the 2008 Edge even shipped with them? I recall reading more than a few threads ranging from valve noise to dying out and failing coil packs etc. Obviously this V6 engine has what may be classified as a noisy valve train. Ford felt it necessary to try and quiet things down, and shield the uninitiated from matters going on "down below" such as the VCT, aluminum valve covers, coil packs, etc. My question to others is this: I've thought about removing these insulating foam blocks from my 2013 to assist with heat dissipation from the top end and open up the air space in the engine compartment. In turn possibly, spare the coil packs from excess heat. In the colder winter months, put the foam blocks back in to help the motor heat up quicker and also protect the aluminum and other top end components like the fuel rail, coils etc from brine spray and moisture. I think who really cares if the noise of the valves are heard a little more? Just my thoughts. Any others out there like me?
  6. Don't use additives? Funny, the dealership keeps pushing the Motorcraft fuel injector cleaner in the white bottle on me every time I'm in the parts department. So if you're worried about using a cleaner in your Edge (or any fuel burning motor), don't fill up with any petrol cut with ethanol. Alcohol "dries" out rubber and plastic parts Use only top octane for best fuel mileage and longevity of plastic and rubber components. Just my learn"ed" experience and opinion. SeaFoam rocks!
  7. I use SeaFoam in my Gen 1 VMAX motorcycle which is notorious for clogging carbs low speed idle circuits. I've cleaned them by removal and disassembly once, and with SeaFoam I'm definitely able to avoid this procedure. SeaFoam... swear by it for this application. It must be doing something in the fuel used in my Edge. I keep a close eye on my petrol consumption and after using a bottle on a fill up, I notice a slight improvement in consumption. If you're really concerned about keeping your motor clean, use top grade fuel and avoid the methanol doped petrol. That's just my opinion.
  8. That ticking in your video is valve train noise and injectors. All top end. Be worried if you hear a diesel engine like noise more, of a thunk-thunk from left or right wheel wells, which dissipates after a few minutes of warm up. That's more than likely piston slap or a lower end bearing, like my 2013 (manufactured 2012) has. Just deciding what to do with this vehicle... "we can bury 'er, burn 'er or dump 'er".
  9. I use individual K&N's on my Vmax Gen 1 motorcycle. It's old school carbs set up will burn the extra oil. I'd be heasitant about using an oil style element if it has the remotest chance of gumming up the MAF. But this is just my thoughts.
  10. Anyone notice if they've used their remote starter that the driver side seat heat seems to turn on? I'll start my Edge with the remote, hop in the vehicle about 2-3 minutes later, and even though I had left ALL climate OFF on vehicle shut off, including the seat warmer, my driver seat feels like it had the seat heat on.
  11. I'll be buying WeatherTech for next winter season for sure after seeing the fit on my friends F-150. Just a little something for thought. I've been laying old newspapers under my matts for years in every vehicle I owned. I lay winter matts on top of the papers. If any salt brine water solution makes it by the matts at least the papers pick up and dissipate the salt into the few layers rather than make it to the carpet. Two things to note: 1) Don't use HUGE amounts of newspapers. Too many can sometimes inhibit the motion of the pedals, in particular the accelerator as it is usually close to the the rise in the floor near the centre of the vehicle. 2) IT IS A PAIN IN THE A$%@ to change the papers every so often during the colder days of winter when they become laden with moisture. It's all worth it though. I've never needed to clean salt crust from any of my vehicles carpets.
  12. With all the write ups on thunk thump, I will be listening more intensely now to my 2013 SEL that I recently bought with 47,000 km's on it. Heard something, but check myself all the time for being "crazy" (Don't we all?) I do hear a low thunk thunk on occasion when braking slow or fast. I have attributed it to the gasoline in the tank, since I usually can hear it more pronounced after a fill up. Must be the fuel sloshing back and forth in the tank because it dissipates after about 10 seconds with the vehicle finally stopped.
