This is a known issue for capacitive sensors. They are designed to identify human body parts which are mostly water, and also happen to react to water during washing. The Owner's Manual mentions that you shouldn't wash your car with your key nearby as it can also cause the foot activated tail gate to open. Question for 2015 owners: Any notice whether the lock/unlock on the door handle works with thick gloves and snow cover?

The 2016 will be the same as the 2015, but with Sync 3 instead of MyFordTouch and Adaptive Steering on the Driver's Package. LED Signature Lights are standard on SEL+, but there are no LED headlights.
-
Power Tilt Steering Wheel is included in the 401a pkg and optional with the Driver's pkg on the base 400a Sport. I believe these are memory enabled, too.

According to the 2016 Order Guide, the 2nd Row Inflatable Seat Belts are Included with the Titanium 302A package, but are Optional on all other Trims.

Headlight Improvements on 2015 Titanium Edge?
knickerbocker replied to Denicio's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Thanks enigma-2, that's good info! I've tried the Silverstar Ultras and Nighthawk Platinums in my old Honda Civic and found they last 9-18 months, which is reasonable. The ZXE are more for the DRLs for the non-yellow halogen look. The lowbeams I'm leaning towards the Nighthawks since they are relatively cheap ($70) and are an easy swap. -
Yep, but only for a few minutes. Here's the official info: Door Lock Indicator An LED on each door window trim illuminates when you lock the door. It remains on for up to 10 minutes after you switch the ignition off.
-
On the inside of the door where old cars had their lock button there is an LED that glows red when the doors are locked. Also, when you tap the top of the door handle to lock the doors, if you don't hear the 'click' you can quickly give the door handle a pull and see if it's locked. The lock function delays the unlock function for a few seconds.

The 2015 Titaniums have the Intelligent Access so you can touch the top of the door handle to lock the doors before walking away. Easier than pulling the fob out of your pocket.

Headlight Improvements on 2015 Titanium Edge?
knickerbocker replied to Denicio's topic in Accessories & Modifications
First mod I'm making when I pick up my 2016 will be upgrading the standard halogen headlights to premium hologen. I'm thinking GE Nighthawk or Sylvania ZXE for a brighter/whiter shine. Like you, I'm not in to rewiring or fiddling with the electrical on a $45,000 vehicle. -
2016 Kona Blue Titanium, 2.0L EcoBoost FWD, Tow Pkg, 301A & Canadian Touring. Hoping to use the heated steering wheel before it gets too cold out this winter.

Already ordered my 2016 Titanium.

Financing Question - HELP
knickerbocker replied to Julien Gauthier's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Yes, you'd pay $7,481.68 interest for the 2013 or $5,210.67 for the 2015 over the entire term. While you're 'saving' on interest, you're going to be 'paying' more in depreciation for the 2015. If you can afford the $290 payment, you could increase your payment on the 2013 and have it paid off 4 months early and save $433.62 in Interest. -
Financing Question - HELP
knickerbocker replied to Julien Gauthier's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Here is your maths: 2013 Edge Limited: If paid over the 6 years @276$/2weeks = $43,056 2015 Edge SEL: Paid over 7 years @290$/2 weeks = $52,780 You'd be paying almost $10k more over an extra 1.5 years (assuming you have 5.5 years left on the 2013). If this is a purely economical decision, obviously you should stick with the 2013. -
It's looking most likely mid-January before customer order will be delivered to dealerships. With factory delays and increased demand it might even be February now. Job 1 is December 2, so more info might be available once production begins.
-
The 'Cold Weather Package' that comes with heated steering wheel and floor mats is included in the Canadian 301a/302a packages. It does seem to make sense for different climates/markets.
-
I'm looking at ways to make the DRL headlamps a similar colour temp as the LED signature lamps on the lower fascia. Would something like Sylvania Silverstar Ultra or GE Nighthawk Platinum bulbs have a close enough white hue? How difficult would it be to upgrade the non-HID Titanium to HID, is there a factory component I can bolt-on or replace?

All Ford Edges Now on Factory Hold?

My Dealer told me 2 weeks ago that they are expecting demo units mid-december and factory order begin delivery early January. Sounds like a follow up is in order... -

August 12, maybe? -
There are no production 2016's on dealer lots. And easy way to tell is the version of Sync in the Dash. If it's got the 4 quadrants and dark colours, it's a 2015. If the Sync has white/bright colours with 3 sections on the home screen, than it's a 2016. The startup dates thread indicates that Dec 2nd is when 2016s start rolling off the line. Also, people who have orders in are being told January delivery at the earliest.

Aftermarket wheels and tires for winter
knickerbocker replied to Etienne Bégin's topic in Wheels & Tires
I've had plenty of bad experiences with Canadian Tire. Their automotive department is beyond incompetent. 1010Tires and TireRack are the best places online IMO. And most dealerships will price match tires. -
