  1. lildisco, sorry, I confused one of your posts with the Ford Dealer Guy. He said one port has more output than the other. So let me clarify a few things: AA & CP works on BOTH ports on the newer hub that supports CP. Never tested my old hub. My current hub in my Edge(16) and my Expedition(17) both work on both ports. The hub outputs a total of 2.8A, Tested 3 Fords, F-150(17), Expedition(17), and Edge(16 with New Hub). It will send 2.8 to 1 port if the other does not have anything drawing power. I know this not because some random person guessed, but because I actually tested it. "Turbo Charging" requires 3.0A of output, this hub will not supply that, and no Sync 3 software update will change that. Not trying to get in to a Apple vs Android device battle in this thread. I don't use an Android device on a daily basis, as my primary portable devices are Apple. I find it really hard to believe that even at 2.0 Amps of draw it wouldn't at least charge your phone slowly while using the GPS. I could understand at 1.0A, but from what I have seen it put out it should easily do it. Something else is going on. I would love to see what your hub outputs...
  2. No, YOU are missing my POINT. There is SOMETHING wrong with your hub. If you replaced it, then I suggest you pull it and check the power connector, if it is factory, you need to go to the dealer. There is NO way just running your GPS would pull more than 2.8A out of your phone, which is what would have to happen for your phone battery to lose power while connected. The fact that you said only one port works for AA, and that one port charges faster than the other tells me you have an issue also. Now this is all based on the fact that your phone is OK, and you don't have some other thing on your phone already drawing your battery down. That still would not explain the one port only working for AA. I routinely stream Pandora, while using Maps on my iPhone 7 connected to CarPlay, and my phone will gain 20-25% in my 30 minute drive home from work. This is all with my Dash Command working in the background and switching to it on the phone to look at stuff. I have heard NO others with Android phones saying the charging doesn't keep up when using AA. I have heard of connectivity and feature issues(Another Thread), but not power issues.
  3. I have the Ford 2.2 file for Nav if you need it. Just PM me.
  4. HAHA! Welcome, and glad to have you. Thanks for confirming what some of us did and have had working for 5+ months with help from various people on this forum including myself. Nothing Personal, but I have done more of these installs myself or assisted others than most of your Techs will do in the next year. Again, Welcome and glad to have you, but you are VERY late to the Party. Where were you when we were all asking why hasn't Ford made an announcement, on something they promised by the end of 2016, yet they just released it 5 months later than promised. "Turbo Charging" is a manufacturer thing, and there is no official standard for it. In general though, a USB port capable of over 3.0A will trigger "turbo" in some manufacturers phones. It is a hardware thing, not software. No update to Sync is going to affect this. Only a Firmware update to the hub(if possible), if the internal actual circuits are capable. Something is wrong with your hub, or if you replaced it, maybe how it was installed. There is no difference in the ports as far as connectivity or Charging capability. How do I know this, because I tested them with a USB power tester. The hub is capable of a shared 2.8A from my testing, which is normal for most. Basically it is probably certified at 2.4A, and most hardware factors a little +, so it can actually serve up 2.8A.. You can get up to 2.8 on 1 port or any combo between the 2 totaling 2.8. My iPhone 7 typically draws about 1.6A when it is charging, even if it is the only thing plugged in, and that is true on most chargers, not just the car. Your hub has 2 connectors on it, one is for Data to the Radio, and the other is power. Maybe the power didn't get reconnected, or not completely seated, or damaged. Then your hub needs to be replaced, as you are doing as part of your update. The software would not fix the problem.
  5. Thanks for the update. As I am sure you saw in the other thread, Our factory intake seems to also leave a lot to be desired, and is more of a "Warm Air" intake. Nick saw additional intake heat, but not too much by the seat of the pants. So I would love to see Data logging on your car. Again, thanks for the update.
  6. Yeah, That is a terrible theory. Start with cooler air, and the whole path is cooler...seems like a no brainer!
  7. Then say reboot. Reset implies clearing settings... OP, definitely as others have said. Delete the pair relationship on both devices. Repair, and answer questions again. Also, Unless I missed it, you did not say type/OS of phone?
  8. Nick, thanks for doing real world Data Logging! That is real data! Well that is REALLY good info. Bad for performance in general, but good for people with open boxes. I guess I can take back the fact that it would be different. It is for a shitty reason though. It is because our stock box and air inlet is crap!
  9. As in you ran without any type of separation between the engine, and the filters, like he is? If so, how did you test it? You measure IAT under both circumstances with similar ambient temps and humidity?
  10. Sorry, but you definitely implied it in your statement about the heat exchanger. It Cools the air more regardless of whether it starts cool, warm, or hot. It in no way decreases the improvement gained by cooler intake air. Hence why turbo motors respond so well to the additional cooling that water injection can give. I appreciate the eye candy part, and like I said, looks good. My main point, regardless of being above where the factory box pulls air, you are still pulling HOT under hood air, and after a few minutes the whole assembly would be hot from the underhood heat on these motors. You can feel the heat coming out when you walk beside the front of the car in shorts after you park, even on a hot day. This little motor in that tight space with it's hot little turbos, generates some serious heat. My concern is that you are actually decreasing performance. Are you monitoring IAT? My guess is that after a bit you are pulling in 100+ Intake air.
  11. Followed Jason's process, and it worked great! PM me if you can't get the download from Ford, and I will send you a link. Image below for proof: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxlap1Uv4Q55bVZGTkZPOFlqZjA/view?usp=sharing
  12. Why you selling it...And wouldn't it be $50, since a new one is $599?
  13. Totally agree on the over oiled part, but it is SO easy to do it. Is your Explorer an EcoBoost, or the NA motor. Big difference between the pressure a Turbo motor can generate and a NA motor. Saying just because the Turbo compresses the air, that the intake temp doesn't matter, is complete and total BS. If that was true, then our motors would have the same performance not matter the ambient air temp, and that is not true. If you start with cooler air, you end up with cooler air. Open your engine bay after a short drive, and use a non contact to read the surface temp of you intake plate, and the air filters. You will not be happy with what you see. Heat soak of your setup would negate any gains by the better flow of the filters. Sorry, I like the looks and appreciate the build skills, but it is not helping your performance. This right here...Got any pictures?
  14. Who was it? Got a link to the post I can't find it? I haven't been accepted to the Edge Owners group, but I can see posts, just can't make any...
  15. So Let's get a running Tally: Jay Lin - Sync 3 2.2 with Nav - Samsung S7 - 6.0.1 - Problems ChefDuane - - Note 4 - 6.0.1 - No Problems Denny Gaughan - - Samsung S7 - - Problems
  16. Ben, Head over to this thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22450-android-auto-only-works-for-about-2-secs-when-plugs-in/ Looks like others are having similar issues, lets see if we can gather some data, and figure out the issue.
  17. We can agree to disagree. Any additional filtration, will decrease air flow over not having it. Is it enough to matter, not sure. Still, my other points are the important ones, Hot air, because of no separation, and oiled filter.
  18. Nope. Not the way it has been documented to work. The radio powers completely down after a short period of time, hence why the best way to do the 2.2 install is to drive while it is doing it.
  19. That intake pulls hot under-hood air, and uses oiled filters. Both are No-No's. Bare minimum it needs a plate to separate from the engine heat that at least tries to seal to the hood. How would that help? That would just restrict air more.... Still pulling hot air through an oiled media on a turbo motor. Both bad, and completely negate the advantage of better flow. If it flows better, but the air is hotter, it can actually decrease performance. Then factor in the oiled media. I would be willing to put money down, that after a 1000 miles, you could wipe oil/grease off the inside of the intake tubes. Now I do believe the stock airbox is a restriction on performance especially if you are tuned on the Edge. Turbo Motors respond more to a better flowing intake, than a NA motor. Some people have said they saw no improvement, but again, they had a NA motor, not turbo.
  20. That intake pulls hot under-hood air, and uses oiled filters. Both are No-No's. Bare minimum it needs a plate to separate from the engine heat that at least tries to seal to the hood.
  21. Those that are failing, what OS version. Guy in the other Sync 3 update thread is having issues with his Pixel on 7+. Might not be related to hardware, but OS version.
  22. All good, we figured the BT part. Make sure you have a backup of your phone, and Master reset it. Restore, and reconnect to the car. Curious if anybody else on here has the same phone at the same OS level.
  23. I would think going from 2.0 to 2.2 could be done over Wifi, but no way the installer that is being downloaded. Way to large, to transfer while most of our cars are briefly on Wifi, not to manage most people do it via Hotspot. Data plan would be trash.
