  1. I got lucky today - my negligence didn't get me stranded, but it was close.

I haven't been checking my emergency wheel pressure and when I needed it today it was at 40 psi, and the second near miss was the fact that only a couple of weeks ago I installed the new lug nuts that the dealership gave me when they damaged the original ones back in 2017.

If I still had the old damaged lug nuts on, the emergency wrench would have been useless.

On the way home from work on the I71 about 10 miles from home the tire pressure warning came on. I got off at the next exit which wasn't too far and by the time I got to a safe place to fit the emergency spare the TPMS was indicating 5 psi.

Got home, plugged the puncture and all is good again.

Also, got to use the new great chuck that I installed on my tire inflator.

Trying to find out more info on my ptu. I believe I have the 8f57 tranny on my 2919 bi turbo diesel Edge. Was the ptu oil change easy? I'm reading conficting info, some that says there's no drain plug on this model......

Have you tried searching the forum for "ptu" ?

Yes, I can see that they fit.  What I notice is that your new tire (315/35R20) is two inches less in diameter than the old tire (255/50R19.)  It may cause increased wear because of the reduced diameter and a greater speedometer error.

Did you view the link I posted?

Where/how did you arrive at a diameter difference of two inches?

The diameter difference is 9.1mm i.e. 0.36 inch.

    Reading at 30mph  =  30.37mph

Purely, wider tires come with increased circumference.   It is purely guesswork to see if a tire will fit.

Having just gone from 19" 255mm wide tires to 20" 315mm tires while maintaining the circumference I can confidently say your statement is incorrect.

Rim width went from 9" to 11".

Using the below web site you can access the overall dimensions changing rim diameter, width and offset.

    https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=255&aspect=50&diameter=19&wheelwidth=9&offset=37&width2=315&aspect2=35&wheel_size=20&wheel_width=11&offset2=28

    I did not use "guesswork".

So I have a 2007 ford edge I just bought and was told it will need a new driveshaft in the next couple years. It vibrates under center counsel. But only when starting off otherwise it drives very smooth...it is loose underneath with much wiggle room...is it okay to drive a long distance?

    Welcome.

That doesn't make any sense that it's vibrating and loose now, but will only need replacement in the next couple of years !! - who told you that?

There's no one that can predict the mileage to catastrophic failure on a component like that which is showing the signs you describe.

Today I decided to install the NGK 95605 Ruthenium HX plugs that I bought recently,

At 104K miles and I was looking to purchase new plugs to install during the next oil change, but found that NGK and RockAuto are listing a different hotter plug my for vehicle.

Now listing NGK 90405 LTR6BHX heat range 6 vs the previous listed NGK 95605 LTR7BHX heat range is 7

I wonder what's behind the change to a hotter plug - anyone have some insight?

Have had these plugs in for 42K miles and never skipped a beat.

I'm just using factory plugs, but how did you even pull the coils with that tube resting on top of them. I can't seem to move the tube forwards or backwards more than about 1" and can't move it up any more than about 1/2".

I can't even get my hands around the coil to pull it ??? Did you just pry the tube forcefully in a direction you needed. I'm worried about breaking the joint down at the turbo if I do that.

As can be seen I did that job more than three years ago and can't recall all the detail, but I wouldn't have forced any component risking damage.

Maybe @Haz can post the procedure from the Ford service manual.

  8. Sounds like your dealership service manager is trying to pay his boat off faster.

Did you check and confirm that all those brake parts were past their useful service life, or just take the word of the service shop?

If you did check and confirm the brake parts needed replacement then "I do not drive crazy with my car" doesn't sound correct, and isn't the norm.

You could have had the battery tested at AutZone free of charge, but no issue with that if it was replaced prematurely under warranty.

I just purchased a 2016 Ford Edge and didn't know about this problem, drive it very little around town but had an issue with overheating and just made it home to find all the coolant gone, had replaced a spark plug for a misfiring issue before this.  Did some further checking and bought a camera to look down and find the coolant.  My edge has 73,000 miles and now it seems I have to replace the engine.  I have owned Fords all my life and now feel stabbed in the back that because of their issue I have to replace the engine, which I cannot afford anyway.

    Welcome.

Have you contacted Ford regarding this?

I recently changed the brake disc/ break pad on my 2014 ford edge. 4 weeks later, l noticed the the following warning lights on the dashboard - advance trac, ABS, traction control, stability control. Is this in any way connected to the change pit of my brake disc/pad?

Its possible that while doing the brake work the ABS wheel speed sensor was disturbed/damaged but unusual for it to show 4 weeks later.

Read the stored error codes and that might give you a better idea what's wrong.

My 2013 Ford Edge had a transmission issue. It has 97000 miles on it. Took it to a dealer and they replaced 2 parts costing over $1800. After driving for 2 weeks, transmission locked up in 2nd gear. Then it just started skipping gears intermittently. Took it back to dealer and was told the transmission was just coming apart piece by piece and I needed to replace it at a cost of $8000! This is ridiculous!

    That's unfortunate.

    Was that a Ford dealership?

Have you had a discussion with the service manager regarding a discount for the $1,800 spent two weeks prior - they some responsibility regarding assessing the viability of spending that much.

Any chance you can post the invoice/job card for the $1,800 work, with your personal details redacted?

And the same for the replacement quote.

I have had my car less than a year, 2020 Ford edge ST AWD. Bought with 33,000mi. Dealership had just put new pads and rotors on the rear. They also put 4 new tires on it, less than 6mo later I had to replace the broken passenger sway bar link and the front pads and rotors. Hasn't even been 3-4 mo. and now my brakes are screeching at every stop again with censors going off! WTH, that is NOT normal wear and tear. Ford has several recalls and forums on bad brakes. So who do I contact that is gonna fix this within ford because I've already reported it to Ford customer service once! HELP

Please post links to the several recalls that you mention.

Brake wear rates differ vastly between owners and that's why all manufacturers new car warranty is so limited when it comes to brakes.

My models brakes are the same as yours, and I just recently replaced my rear pads for the first time at 103K miles, and the original rotors are still in use.
