  1. To me is a defect, I do not see how any instaltion mistake will make those bubles in a 1/8 thick material so easily....Is it rubber or foam?
  2. Check if you have it, I think that they will not make two differents headunits, one for each configuration chances are that they are the same connected differently...
  3. Do you really beleive that this little bulb/light that they place under the hook will really help you in the middle of the road in the dark??? Maybe get a 12V lamp with an extension from cigarrette lighter instead, if you are surrounded by other lights, maybe, but in that case you do not need the little light, I do not know, I have had cars all my life, and I have never foud useful that light on the hood in the cases I had it...belt breakage only happen if you do not check it regularly, and belts nowdays last a long time unless defective...
  4. Here you go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-08-FORD-...A1%7C240%3A1318
  5. Set it at 100 HZ, and if you are going to use the same headunit, most probably it already has the low-pass at the output given that it has sub-woofer-out, also do not worry too much, mainly all speakers of that size will hardly reach 100 HZ without a roll off, what kind of speakers are placing on the doors? Also as the last resource you can use two caps in parallel and that will do the low pass for you, but most of them will not even need that, and roll off will begin above that point...also keep in mind that maybe the headunit already has a low pass in the output, if it has sub-woofer output to couple them properly...
  6. Not sure guys, you are being extremely critical with the Ford guys, just a few thoughts, first I have nothing to look under my hood for the last 6 years to come, my car will be under warranty, and I think that I can wait till the morning to do whatever I may have to do under the hood, as add a fluid, etc...anyway I do not think that any light they will place there will be enough, that is just an absurd waste or money, for that same reason I did not place these nice pistons, or whatever they call it...about the glove compartment, it is true that some cars have light, but the Edge's is not so big to absolutely need a light, just with one hand I could take out all what I have in there, and on the center console, that stupid thing, honestly I feel I have no much use for it, for my laptop is too small, for GPS, mine do not fit there, for CDs it is too uncomfortable, for sunglasses, I need them handy, the coins get out of the slots constantly, so if they let me choose, I would even prefer not to have it, and have more space instead, to be more comfortable, and have the speed stick besides the wheel as many other cars, this serve no other purpose that taking space and comfort...period... Now about the bumper cover, I will not ask that much, just having one that looks nice and serve the purpose will be enough for me... I will try to get a template of cardboard and have it with me, and in every freaking can I see parked, will test to see if I could find one that really fits and look better...if they have the lap co cover the lip, much better, but if not, what can we do?
  7. There is only a few SUV's nowadays in which the lip of the bumper is actualy covered, the huge majority of the SUV's step pads does not, and it is more like a cosmetic thing, anyway I rarely put anything over the bumper, I just lift it to the center of the cargo compartment and period...
  8. I fully understand, and I just made that assumption, as you said, based on the fact, that there is no way that a fluid change alone will remove the noise from the brakes, as we all agreed, so it is not hard to imagine, even while the infomation was not given, that something else must be done in order to get the noise out... Of course maybe they just sprayed brake cleaner on the rotors and pads and you should have a quiet brake again, but who knows???
  9. Keep in mind that brake fluid is hygroscopic, what means that under normal conditions it tends to absorb water from the air, and degrade itself, if the cap of the little reservoir was not tight enough, it will eventually get bad regardless, after it gets water in, getting darker is not an issue. But the noise of the brakes was not because of that, noise are usualy due to bad quality pads, or damaged rotors/pads...Sometimes just dirt can cause them to make that sound. Of course that changing it will not harm your vehicle (and most likely it may need it anyway, specially if it was dark in color) but to blame that for the noise was simply a misleading information...and I'm 100% sure that on top of changing it, if the car stopped making the noise, they cleaned and cut the rotors as well, it was not just a change of fliud service, probably was a complete brake service...that cna cost easily more than $115.00, at 20 per wheeel you have only 80 in rotor cut, add the rest for the rest of service and you will ahve a nice bill...
  10. What seems ot me is that this one is not placed, was just drop on top, if you look closely the distances are not equal from both sides, maybe was just as an example to take the picture, but honestly who needs more coverage than that???
  11. Did anybody had tried this one? This one looks cool...just concerned about the quality now, it seems a little thin, similar to the stock, but that is the kind of shape I'm looking for... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-EDGE-M...emZ260376961487
  12. Usually in the forums the posts can only be deleted by the administrators or moderators, not by the users, what you can do is to clean it and leave it blank and request one of the administrators to delete it, it is funny how you needed to sand this bulb, as honestly mine was a piece fo cake, not even the slightless force. I think that the Ford QC has leaves much to be desired...or the QC of the Toshiba bulbs...
  13. For the HIR-1 I had no problems at all, just cut a little bit the ears on the top as he suggested and period, I used a dremel, but you cna use anything, it is just plastic, in the low beans I still have the nightbreakers which is a direct replacement (which I will eventually replace if one of them get shot as they are pretty expensive) and also the H9 gives more light, but also is 65Watts, not 55W, as the origianl one, not sure if the wiring will be good enough to hold the extra 10 watts...but for now I will have the nightbreakers, for a while, I suggest not to do the sanding with the light assembly on, remove it and do it outside, if you decided to go that route, as the remainings of the sanding will go inside the headlight for sure, honestly if I have to sand something, I preffer to do it with the base of the bulb, not the otherway around...
  14. Try to use left on the right and vice....
  15. I have them on the high beams and they are incredible, the light extends almost the double fo the stock ones...They are very nice and the mod is minimal...
  16. Well indeed I think that they work somewhat together, Daniel is sometimes quoted by many of the technical advice I have received from Candlepower. BTW Cadlepower is the only importer in US for many europen and japanese headlamps, for the automotive industry, and also for motorcycle, i was told once that they furnish all the heaplamps to Harley Davidson...regardless of this to be true or not, their products are top notch, an they are working for long time with many manufacturers of the automotive industry...If I have to trust someone, those will be the ones, hands down... Here is some info about the company and their development: http://candlepowerinc.com/history.html
  17. Independent body shops are very good, but keep in mind that most Ford Dealers uses them as well, Ford do not have any body shop as such, at least not in my area, that I know of, all thye do here, is using independent ones that offer good service to keep their reputation up... I received a couple fo dents the other day, on the driver doors, courtesy of a Diner parking lot, the guy hit me and run, I was inside eating, unfortunatelly for him two old ladies that were sitting in their car in the parking lot, one of the them a widow of a police officer, took his plate number...Now doing the tedious job that follows the damage, i ahve learned a lot about those issues the hard way... A few remarks: Keep your deductible in the minimum, pay for the rent a car service, never park a car while you do not see it, and try to use the parking spots at the ends, usually the ones at the passenger side, that will minimize the hit of doors opening besides you, park as far as you cna, people is lazy and laways try to park close to the place they will go into, leaving the parking spots that are far away empty...
  18. I do not think this is actually our case, and I say ours, as IIRC, the MKX shares our same radio, but I do not see that the result we get, could be due to limitation on the hardware, at least not as the case you pointed so obvious, but I'm not sure neither 100% how the satelite radio was designed in the Edge radio we have, and maybe there is still room for improvent, but I do can tell you that there is a noticeable difference, and that the way it is now, I'm not really interested in getting the service extended to hear that horrible sound while I could do a lot better out of a burnt CD that cost me cetns to be made to my taste.... :shades: I know that you are talking of RCA coax, but depending on which you use, RGB or monitors ins are also RCA, and the cathode TV's monitors offer a far better picture than any plasma or LCD till now, the range of gradients and colors is still far better, of course I'm talking of both feed by the same type of signal. Just an example, in Hollywood, in many studios, they still use the legendary $30,000.00 Sony CRT 20" inches monitors to master all the movies, and in the other places they do not, is just because of the lack of service and parts for them...FYI...
  19. Those two articles were the first two I found browsing around, and I just used them to support the idea of that bad sound I was complaining, but the idea was not to dismiss your statement, not trying to make these articles an statement of absolute truth, I was more just trying to point out that there are other opinions regarding that. Also it may be possible that the FM Radio stations in your area simply suck, or maybe the stations you listen in Sirius sound far better than the ones I listen to, not all areas has the same FM quality. I listen classic Rock, Heavy, and Jazz, unfortunately all those stations are among the worst in sound quality in the Sirius service. I will be more specific, here in the three state area, NY, NJ, CT, the FM kills any-day the Sirius quality, 101.9, 102.6, 104.3, etc....it is more the Sirius quality is more closer to the horrible AM than to the FM, so in my opinion (and in others) and if you really want more info with more technical background, I'm pretty sure that you know how to get it....but I encourage you to go to the same Sirius forum, or maybe Head-fi, Audiokarma, Audioholics, or any other hi-end audio forum and just ask, you will get the same answers, satellite radio till now is not worthy to build a high end system around it, and I have not heard yet about any single "audiophile setup" even for home use, based on the satellite service alone, and again, here, in this area, it is indeed between AM and FM, not between FM and CD, as you pointed out, sorry....if that is your case, and you hear that way, something is really wrong on those FM stations, or the FM tuner of the radio, sorry... It is a real shame, as I 100% agree with you, that as you pointed out, the content is very good, but the quality of the sound is horrible. Not sure if I will extend the service or not, for now I got an extra free month from them... :shades: Yes, I have my stock head unit, as till now, I have not felt the need of changing it, with my Cd's it sounds very good, (actually it is a new one just placed yesterday, the original one was defective, not sound-wise, another problem...) I did replaced the four doors with DLS 457's coaxials, with external x-overs, that do not sound bad at all. But even while I have pointed out many times, the stock speakers, given the position on the doors, and that have the woofers all covers with a plastic mesh, you will be asking too much to them to sound good....But they could indeed be improved, cutting around the plastic that covers the woofer, and that way they are not that bad, if you use a good source of sound. BTW I have been in audio circles for a while, and I distribute home audio for an Italian audio Hi-End, so in other words, I know what Hi-End sound is, and we are very far from that, regardless the head-unit you use, the speakers you use, or the source you use...a car interior is not the best place to create a hi-end system, so in other words you have to learn how to live with these limitations...
  20. IME Sirius is far worst than 128kbps mp3, and even if they were 128, what a big deal!!! 128 is garbage as well, you can get almost the same compression ratio with any lossless format nowadays...I'm pretty sure FM also uses compressed music today, and they sound 100 times better... Here is an article, and some guys complaining about the same, it is not a fantasy of the audiophiles, Satellite radio quality simply sucks, IMO barely better than AM: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7150262/ http://www.hear2.com/2005/03/satellite_radio.html
  21. That is the main problem, I would like it in black thick rubber, like all cars, not sure about those, tomorrow will see if I can measure one of the GMC ones to see they are the cheapest...
  22. Blue colored glass lamps are not the way to go, they will give you apparently more light due to the different color, but you indeed are filtering the light removing color components that are "needed" for the night vision (as the yellow spectrum) Just see the yellow lights that are installed in many highways, they are yellow, and IMO they are the best for the night view, some of the brighter white ones do not illuminate so much... Please for the ones looking for better lights, do not purchase any bulb just for the sake of, do not make my same mistake, read before, here are two articles of the good and bad blue bulbs, non of the two offer any advantage in better lighting: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/blue/blue.html
  23. I rarely do something becasue of others, and I don't care a little bit about what others think, but the problem is that I'm very picky with myself, what I do not like, I do not like and period.. Lex I knew about this one too late, while they began with the quality problems and later on discontinued it, that indeed look very nice, but unfortunatelly for us no longer in production...So we need ot find other alternatives now...
  24. I have seen a few incarnations of those aftermarket , but those are not more than a piece of rubber mat cut to the size and shape and period, sorry but I'm after something a little bit more elaborated, it at least those guys would use the lines on the rubber vertical instead of horizontal, it will look a lot better, like that is a little rudimentary and honestly I could do it myself...
  25. I have these two options on mind, but I would not be the guinea pig even while they are cheap, if someone wants to give them a try and report back... http://www.automotix.net/bodyparts/2003-gm...ad-g764901.html http://www.automotix.net/bodyparts/2004-gm...ad-g764902.html
