  1. Which are the interior lights that CANNOT be turned off? :shades:
  2. NOOOOOOO!!!! Roll up the windows inmediately, you are putting yourself in danger. Oh man!!!!
  3. Yes please, all the info you can provide us will be really useful, and not only for me, for others as well, replacing the subwoofer for a more efficient and versatile one, is a very simple operation, and IMO the first step, it will give you an audiophile taste with a more compact and tight bass... I will send you my email address, and if you have a multimeter handy please measure the resistance between the positive and negative in each section of the coils, that will give you an aproximate value for the impedance as the other two components are very small...
  4. The one in the picture is dual voice coil indeed, if you look closely, you have two connections, one on the top and one on the bottom, now the question is if thye are using both, or just one coil??? But now we are getting closer, thanks buddy....
  5. I'm curious myself....shoot, I didn't realized it was from may 2008!!!! Getting senile is not funny, definitelly.... :stats:
  6. I have a good deal of a very good 8 inches subwoofer, but I do not want to go too deep into modifications, so I was wondering of the lot of people that have exchanged the stock subwoofer, does anybody had a picture, and can provide the dimensions of the stock subwoofer, I know it is 8 inches, but I need the depth, how many holes, connectors if any, and also if it is dual voice coil or just standard single voice coil, if possible the impedances, etc....(you can measure it with multimeter) Any help will be really appreciated...thanks guys...
  7. There are several versions of the radio. There is one system that has no subwoofer, so I'm assuming that the radio may be different with no subwoofer connections at all, so probably they ordered the wrong model...Also they need ot be reprogrammed as well...
  8. That one is accordion type, foldable, it takes three weeks to get here, they are manufacturing it according ot them, but anyway I do not expect it to be thin, you cna use the backpockets of the seats, or place it under the front seats...
  9. I do not see why you guys feel that what the majority of people in the whole green round planet earth, our world, accepted as a reality many years back, air is contaminated, by many things, some are removed by filters and others not, but there is nothing wrong in a fact. Air filters are made everyday in all countries for a purpose, there is an industry and an R&D behind that, and a lot of money as well, thye are installed and replaced everyday, and used all around for a purpose. Of course that we can not filter all the air in the planet in one shot, but at least try to filter the one you can, period. If you feel that is no needed, so be it, but do not try to dismiss an argument that have been proved to death, and accepted by people that the less thing they want is to spend money in things that are not useful... So is illogical to place a filter in the car cabin or in the home air conditioner, to remove the dust, but is perfectly fine and logical, to have weapons home, and even carry them around...Some kind of a cowboy 18 century mentality!!! :shades:
  10. I ordered mine from Coversforyou.com still waiting for the status fo the order....you are right the shipping was free, well if in a $50.00 sunshade we can consdier anything free...LOL...
  11. Of course, that is the reason they exist, to remove harmfull contaminants from our breathing, Lex, you can say what you want (and we could say also that you are wrong, and personally, this time, I'm incline to believe so, as car manufacturers, air conditioner manufaturers, etc...do not want to spend money if they were not necesary) other point to consider is that you are not only protecting yourself, but IIRC from my short incursion in that field, you are also protecting the radiators of the air conditioner and heater, as this same air flow through them after being filtered, from getting clogged by that dust, and particles... Regardless of personal beleif, there is a fact that nobody can deny, this garbage that we see there, would be in any other place, and honestly, personally I preffer it to be trapped there....of course that will not free you of any other danger that we are expose daily, bird flu, pig flu, anthrax, etc...
  12. Well no luck, went to several stores all carry the same crap, none of those will fit, so I pulled the trigger on those Covercraft expensive ones, hope will not get disapointes, around 50.00 with case and shipping...
  13. Ford dealers use Motorcraft, 5w20 or 0w20, that IIRC is done by Valvoline now, no Mobil-1 on dealers...They charge around $59.99 for full synthetic usually around here as well, my upgrade to Sync 2.0 was free as well (well actually I have to travel twice there but got it in 30 minutes second time, but anyway I need to go to get the seat belt extenders, that were also free, so not biggie)
  14. Thanks for the reply, I forgot to add afford-ability in my first post, sorry for the omission bf, I saw those already, but honestly I do not see myself spending that much on that, they are somewhat pricey, I was searching to see if I could get a decent price from a customized one, but no luck, but just for the cost of the shipping alone, we can get any big, non customized, cut it to the right size and shape, pay for the seaming back again, and will be still a lot cheaper than those. The Ed Hardy one sold on Wallmart is very sturdy, just that is not the right size...I will drive around today to see if i can find any...again... Thanks for the reply bf2530, and sorry for the little rant, but it was my fault for the omission...
  15. I'm looking into some sunshades for the Edge, something that you can fold and place in the back of the seat, or similar solution, and take it and place on the windshield easily, not the type that need a college degree to rotate and open, and then mix with another that has to be rotated counterclockwise and place the finger here and there, sorry I will not waste time learning how to place a freaking sunshade on my car, what was in the past a pretty straightforward thing... I have been testing several sizes, from Wallmart, Target, Auto-parts, and the Standard is too small, and the Jumbo a way too big...got even one very nice from Wallmart with a nice design $11.00 IIRC, same problem, standard too short, Jumbo came out too long and do not stay all flat, just folded in some places... Does anybody had the same problem, what kind of solution do we have left, my parking is exposed and at my office I have the same problem, those sunshades if properly implemented are supposed to reduce the heat inside the car by almost 40% in some cases, what is not a joke, considering some parts will get 140 degrees on the sun in the summertime here....
  16. For the ones that still do not beleive the effectiveness of any cabin air filter, just take a look at this thread, 19K miles on one of our Ford Edge's, see that filter, and there is no way to even know if it was previously replaced or it was the factory installed one. I'm assuming it will be the stock, as otherwise the prior owner was simply a pig...wondering where all that nice "black mess" would be otherwise: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...ic=3531&hl=
  17. No fuel filter to change on Edge... Wow that is disgusting, IIRC that filter should be changed at 12K by the dealer, is in the maintenance guide. And there are still several Edge owners that do not beleive the effectiveness of the cabin air filters, just imagine where all this mess would be, if not on the filter...lungs, carpet, dashboard, upholstery, yeak!!!!
  18. The ones used by Ford AFAIK are the same crap that will burnt the sockets again, I had mine repelaced under warranty and they replaced the bulbs with the identical ones that burnt the socket before...Fortunatelly for us, there is another option that is far better, according the Daniel Sterns, read here, the ones I have installed in my car now: The socket burning problem is for one reason only: Ford didn't spend enough money on bulb sockets; they used a material without the necessary heat resistance. The plastic wedge-base bulbs have been generally the most problematic of any of the three major types of bulbs of this general size, output and wattage rating (metal push/twist bayonet base, plastic wedge base, and all-glass wedge base). The contact wires built into the plastic wedge base are very small, and require absolutely perfect contact with high-quality sockets in order to work over the long haul. I was just talking to a GM lighting specification engineer the other day about this. He said the only reason why GM switched away from the largely trouble-free metal bayonet bulbs was that for awhile there in the early-mid '90s, it was very difficult for them to get production quantities of high-quality bayonet-base bulbs. Now they are actively moving away from the plastic-wedge bulb, which has caused them their own share of socket problems, and going to the all-glass wedge base bulbs, which have proved more dependable in this regard. They're not going back to the metal bayonet base bulbs because a wedge bulb is easier for a robot to install on the production line. Volvo had big problems with plastic-wedge when they used them in the front turn signals in the mid-late '90s; they soon had a large recall on their hands for burned/faulty sockets. Their recall fix was to retrofit metal bayonet bulbs and matching sockets on all the affected cars. The glass-wedge bulbs were not available at that time. I took a look at the thread you pointed to, and while I could not see the photos because I am not a member of that forum, I can easily visualise the socket damage, since I've seen a fair amount of it on other vehicles. That is not to suggest that the design is fatally flawed; there have been many vehicles with plastic-wedge bulbs that give absolutely no trouble even over a 20+ year vehicle lifespan. It's all down to the quality and construction of the sockets selected by the vehicle manufacturer. I must caution you in the strongest possible terms that the "LED bulb" idea raised in that thread is not a solution to the problem, and it is extremely dangerous and quite illegal. "LED bulbs", even the fancy ones with multiple emitters facing various directions, cause the vehicle's lamps not to perform in a safe or legal fashion with respect to the intensity of light emitted, the ratio of bright (brake or turn) to dim (tail or park) intensity, and the angles through which the light is distributed. If a vehicle is involved in a collision, and the lighting equipment is found not to be equipped with a legal light source or otherwise not to be performing in the intended manner, the vehicle owner can be exposed to very significant liabilities. It is not possible to mix and match bulb and socket types. For example, the glass-wedge type bulbs cannot be installed in a socket intended to accept a plastic-wedge bulb. However, I believe we do have some bulbs that ought to at least mitigate this problem. You'll want to try and insist that Ford replace your burnt sockets under warranty, if applicable; if not, replace them yourself. Then, there is a hybrid type of bulb available that you can install to gain much of the benefit of the glass-wedge base. They are an all-glass bulb with a high-temperature polymer locating collar to secure the bulb correctly in the plastic-wedge socket. They're not just variant forms of the 3157/4157 bulbs, though, they're special continuous-duty bulbs designed to handle the heat encountered in always-on daytime running light service. Their filaments are rated at 14v rather than 12.8v, and the all-glass base and Ultem collar do a better job of conducting heat away from the bulb-to-socket junction. They are electrically a direct replacement, and they are fully optically compatible with the lamps on your Edge. As an added bonus, their lifespan is much longer than the 3157/4157 bulbs. The amber (front park/turn) ones are here: http://store.candlepower.com/5702ka.html The clear (rear brake/tail) ones are here: http://store.candlepower.com/4114k.html
  19. That upgrade should be free according to my dealer, whomever is charging for it, is ripping off their customers, it takes only 30 minutes to get done, and they get paid by Ford to install it. They use a male to male USB cable hook it ot the Ford laptop, and the other end into the Sync port, that cable AFAIK is provided by Ford and the time I went there they have it on a locker of the main technician there, he was not in the shop, and they were not able to find it out in any store around (it was a saturday so all autoparts and dealers parts suppliers were closed) The worst i ahve seen charge for it was 79.00 till now, many customers are now running to ourdealer to install it there...
  20. For the ones interested on the aftermarket lighting, as you probably know, I have in mine the Nightbreakers, even while very nice color, and output light, the Nightbreakers seems to be a very low life bulb, half of the stnadard life, of the regular H11's. I replaced my first one today after about 6 months of very gently use, not even driving at night, they lasted half life or less in comparison to the standard H11, not sure if it was a defective bulb, or a bummer, but just in case, I pulled the trigger for a set of the Narva H9's 2100 lummen, that will last as long as the standard ones, color will be different though. I spoke with Kenny at Candlepower, as usual very nice customer support, and he will send a replacement my way, as it was supposed to last longer, but even though, lasting one year, is not enough for me to justify a 35.00 a shot bulb. I will place the H9's now and I will report back my experience with them, other aspect to consider is that they are half a price fo the Nightbreakers...will keep my remaining one for the fog lights and the new one as well... :stats:
  21. I'm interested in the mats, I live in NJ, near you and could arrange a pickup, or a drop off, i sent a PM a few days back still no answer...
  22. If the linear actuator alone, cost $50.00 it was designed for the NASA... Any linear actuator if you get it yourself will cost you far less, and man do not worry they last a long time before going down, you will sell the car first, that is for sure.... We all know how the original looks like we are talking of the one he made....
