  1. I replaced mine with the DLS-457's, and they indeed sound better, the mids are far more defined, and refined, and highs the same, of course the bass now is too much for my taste, and I needed to adjust the bass a little lower in volume. The sound is a lot more natural now. I strongly reco those DLS457 as a serious upgrade for the ones looking for a really natural audiophile sound... The main problem I found with the stock design is mainly the location, they are a way too low on the sides and the tweeter definitelly is not in the best place around, thati s ap roblem that we ahve to deal with unless we place them differently... About the stock speakers, after opening them and looking what is inside them, definitelly they are not bad speakers at all, the woofer is a very thick pressed paper cone, with a huge magnet, and the crossover is far from being an afterthought one, even the parts are good inside it. The main problem is that the enclosure they made was really poor, it is indeed blocking 80% of the area of the cone on the woofer, there is not way in earth than any driver could sound properly like that...I would like to open the front baffle around the cone, and see how they will stand in front of many of these so called upgrades we have nowdays on the big stores. I strongly suggest the ones interested in improving the sound, to try this mod first before going any further, and maybe will save you a few bucks, just cut the front plastic baffle area in front of the woofer, and try them. Unfortunatelly I realized that too late after I had placed the order for mine, so for me, it was more practical to replace them, than to modify the stock ones... Definitelly you can find better options, bigger sizes, the stock is somewhat small also, like 4", IIRC, but you have to look wiser, not all of the so called upgrades I heard in the stores, will sound better... Also I had lived the last week with the CD player mainly, honestly, as I have state before, I could not stand the sound quality of the satellite radio, saving a few stations that unfortunatelly are not my favorites. I feel that this quality is simply unacceptable for a paid service, and unless they improve it considerably, they will not get my subscription back again in my life...and do not think that I'm alone on that, just log on in audio forums and the same Sirius forum and you will found tons of complaints of the poor quality....BTW what they call 128kbps CD quality, not sure where they got that number, for an mp3 to match the CD quality you have to at least have 256kbps or more...
  2. I always have been able to remove them only removing the screws, and pulling it, be carefull while using the knives with the paint, or use plastic tools...it is a little tricky but you can achieve it by pulling it only, the tailight is only attached to the body by the two screws and the guide pins on the outside of the lens...
  3. I replaced my audiophile 4 speakers from the doors, that doesn't mean that these are that bad, actually for my surprise they are pretty good. I opened them, and they have a real thick paper pressed cone, on the beefy woofer, and a nice 1" tweeter connected to a good crossover, not just a 4uF cap in series as most of the aftermarket considered s better replacements will have. The only drawback, and I'm not sure what the hell the Ford engineers where thinking while they designed them, and that keeps those speaker from doing a decent job, is that they enclosed them with a plastic grill that blocks 80% or more of the area of the woofer cone, that should be completely exposed, anyway they are protected by the grill at the door. Here is a picture I borrowed from Lex, from illustrations purposes, hope he doesn't mind... If you remove that grill area, cutting it all around with a dremmel, and creating a circular cutout, same size of the woofer cone, and reattach the woofer after, I'm pretty sure that they will sound a lot better, unfortunately I realized that, after I ordered "my upgrades"...and the amount of work behind was not worth the hassle as to return the DLS, that anyway will be better speakers. Not saying that many aftermarket will not sound better, but not all aftermarkets will, as a side note I heard a few of the most acclaimed brands around, while searching, and I was not pleased with the sound I got from any of them, until I got my DLS 457's...of course these are on a different league. A decent offer will get them 4, otherwise will eBay them...
  4. I was told at the dealer that those sensors reset themselves once the tire is in the vehicle again, not sure what this device is for. All you have to do is drive for a couple of minutes, once the system check and find the sensor if the pressure is good, you are good to go. I got a flat and the tire was taken out to be fixed, on the whole process the ligh was on, as it was fixed outside the vehicle. While placing it back the sensor was still on. I drove for 5 minutes and the sensor automaticaly shut off again, from that day on, no more problems except one very cold day that the sensors were acting funny, checked the pressure and was low in two tires, restore the right pressure and period...I think that this device is for sensors that sense and display the actual pressure of the tire, not ours...
  5. I understand your point, and trust me that even with no injury, is not easy to get used to them, I would say that is a real PITA, that is why on top, I use a convex small ones as well. Mainly for the same purpose you mentioned, to see the lines and also for parking purposes, I need to see the curbs to avoid damaging the rims. As a side note, let em tell you that you can still use the mirror even set that way for backing, what I did was that I got an intermediate position between what they told me to do, and what we were used to, some kind of an hybrid solution, you do not get the optimal blind spot removal, let's say that you will get 90% of it, but you do not loose all the visibility you have with the side mirrors while you adjust them the "wrong" way...Just try them and see if this can be of any help in your case... Happy Holidays guys!!!!
  6. tpm, you may have been driving for more than 30+ years but let me tell you that he is right, and you have been using your mirrors setup wrong (the same way I was for 15+ years) Nothing wrong on that, as we all have been told to try to see the back door handle, blah, blah, blah...but that is not the right way to set up the mirrors, and he is not talking of turning your head, which is indeed dangerous, he is talking of turning the mirrors out, setting them properly. Now, is it easy to adjust yourself to watch the mirrors that way? No, it is not. Now, is it achievable? Yes, it is...I did. Even while I would like to have these nice ones installed from factory, unfortunately this never happen, I do not see myself spending $80.00+ on a couple of mirrors that I could not even install properly as my vehicle do not support heated mirrors, so I got a couple of cheap round ones that do the job nicely, placed them on the corners, later on set them mirrors the right way, and period. And right now I use them mainly just to see the curbs while parking. I also found that to adjusting the right way the mirrors, will give you no blind spot at all. Here are some tips on how to do it properly, not saying that to get used to that setup is easy, after being driving for years using the method we were told to use to set them, but eventually you will get used to it, and do not need the blind spots ones (I'm just trying to get an excuse on not to get them, OK?...LOL... :shades:) Here are a couple of more links that will show you the same, and will take you to get similar results: http://www.linquist.net/motorsports/tech/mirrors/ http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive...to/4234574.html http://www.motorists.org/blog/how-to-adjus...e-view-mirrors/
  7. The buick Enclave is a beautiful vehicle, I considered it while in search for a new, the only problem was that i was nto able to get a better price than the Edge, and it was more expensive by a few K's otherwise I would ahve jumped on it blindly, the interior and finish is a lot more refined and offer more luxury than the Edge in the best incarnation... About the MPG on the tripletes I think that you do not need a triplet to get 10MPG. My Edge had never made more than 10-11 in City driving neither...
  8. While I took it to the dealer they say they reset the values to the default ones, and that should be OK, but not sure how they did it, if they were not able to tell me the weight limit, not have a way of testing it otherwise. My major concern is not the light, is that for some reason the bag gets desconnected permanently and in case of an accident, they do not act the way they are intended to... If I apply more weight, like for example put on the seat the toolbox, the light get ons, aslo while my doggy step on, the light turns on, but it is more becasue of him moving, than of the actual weight, as he weights about 24lbs... I will take a look at those sites later on, now my family got here, so I ahve ottake care fo them... Thanks for the info...
  9. Buddy do not stone me alive, I'm just trying to figure out how to get some extra information that I was not able to find, just that...at the beginning it was true that I was argumentative, but that is not the case now, trust me, I just want to find any reliable source of info, all you have posted is what is said, and we have read that, but as you said I do not know of any case of damage becasue of the use of premium... You are absolutely right about the gas ratings, EPA tests, I have no clue, but honestly they are very far from reality, as we have seen here multiple complaints of fuel eficinecy ratings being wrong, not in vane. About the air bags, my only concern about that rating was becasue I did had a problem, I was just trying to find out, as while I got the car I noticed that while I always placed my backpack over the front passenger seat, the light was on, some time after using it, the light began to shut off with no reason as there was no change in may habits, or the weight of the bag, same weight, sometimes on sometimes off, that was not normal, so I took it ot the dealer to be checked, and that was while the problem began, nobody knew if it was right or wrong, as nobody had the right figure, or why it was at the beginning on and now off with the same weight, till now it has been a mystery, and not sure if iti still working right or wrong, and that is asafety issue in case it is not working as it should be...I never expected those to be poblished but at least I expected that someone in Ford Motor Company knew about those, till now they do not...
  10. I do not feel that you are trying to play as a wise guy, but unfortunatelly you misunderstood my post here, I was just asking for information, honestly I'm not trying to argue anymore, not trying to prove any point, just trying to get the light, based on facts, becasue I feel that there is no so much real accurate info, and just retorical answeres mentioning the same sources we have read than contain that same lacking info, will not do any good to this cause... Don't tell me that a quick search, will show it, as at least I have not been able to find it yet. All I was looking for, is information, not articles stating the same based on nothing. I would like to read some kind of study, for example, in which someone had conducted a test and arrive to conclusions based on that test, again such experiment, test, information exists??? All that wrong information that I have posted (with the exception of the very personal experience) have been copied and pasted from online sources, I didn't generate or create that info, why should I? Those same sources that anybody could read, and get misinformed as I seem to be now. That means that if this information is wrong (as it seems to be the case) then all those sources and whomever posted it on the articles I read, is wrong as well. Then as a result it seems to me that we are entering in some kind of misinformaed area of the human knowledge in which anybody can post as they wish. Resuming the fact is that I have not been able to find any accurate information with facts, and based in statistical info, other that what this or that guy say (but according to what?) I know what is recommneded, but I would like to know why? And if this why exist where it is? That is what I'm trying to find, and looking for, sorry do not misunderstand my post, I'm not trying to argue, just trying to get useful information as opposed to retorical speeches...I have tried all the major brand of gas pages as you say, none of them provide any statistical data as why high octane may damage engines designed for lower octane...And some of them reco that if noise occurs, use a higher grade...What seems to be contradictory. About the so called manual, that many of you use as a bible, it says as well 14MPG driving in th city, what IME is a joke, and also they recomend bulbs in the tail-lights that burn the sockets...as we all have seen here, just open your taillights you will see for yourself, I'm waiting for the dealer to call me with the parts to replace all in mine...So to me that is not a trusty source for info, there is no info neither about the weight ratings for the airbags to get connect of disconned, while using the passenger seats. As you know the light lights up or shuts down depending on the weight on the passenger seat, well I was trying ot get the ratings, nobody in Ford knows, i was like two hours with some guyns on the phone and they were not able to get that info for me neither, contacted three different dealers and all three gave me different figures, so to me, the info in this field is somewhat uncertain. So why some areas of that manual should be trusted, and others not???
  11. I have been reading here and there, trying to get some real info, and added my short experience in the field, having worked in a gas station while I was a kid, where one of the coworkers worked for Amoco, taking sample of gas, and sharing some results in gas tests at that time, and I would like that any member with real info, maybe statistics, data, will illustrate us in how a high grade gas that is supposed to burn slower, at lower temperatures, and in a more uniform and efficient way, with less turbulence and less explosions, creating less carbon and deposits, and offering a better emission spectrum will damage or cause any adverse effect on an engine designed to be run with 87 octane? One thing is that many people consider that is a waste of money, because supposedly you will not get any benefit, and another very different is to say that it will somewhat damage your engine, I would like to see any real data, any real info to share from any manufacturer, just curious??? I think that I will try again regular this weekend to see if I feel any benefits to report... Also not sure if the manufacturers, fight or not to get tenths out of the MPG ratings but most of the times they lie all they want, I can tell you for sure, that there is no way of getting in city driving (at least not in my area) more than 10MPG maximum out of any Edge, those 14MPG are IMO an illusion of whomever wrote that manual...Never in the few months that I have been driving it, with any kind o gas, I was able to get more than 9-10, ten and fraction maybe, MPG... BTW my Taurus engine was cleaned and serviced freq, recently it got a tune up, all parts were premium parts, and it runs very nice despite the mileage, the noise was not because of the deposits, was because of the gas used... BTW not sure what the big deal in the manual ratings is now, AFAIK many domestic cars, and even imported had always recommended 87 or higher in their manuals for years, that is not new at all, what is all the sudden fuzz now about that, is that really new??? My 86' Chevy celebrity (RIP) manual IIRC, stated also 87 as the recommended, and that was more than 10 years ago...
  12. Usually it indicates "Liftgate Ajar" on the dashboard...
  13. It is a little tricky to remove it, but pulling it and moving it it will come out, just take a shot of Vodka and go ahead you can do it, pull it...
  14. Guys you can pump whatever you want in your cars, same as I will do with mine, I tried regular following the advice of the dealer for a whole month, and I never got any benefits out of it, same MPG I have now or worst, the car moved slower, and had less power than now, on hills was making funny noises, that as soon as I replace the gas went away....Premiun gas scientifically proved, burn slower, and completely, and at lower temperature, what keep the engine cooler, and creates less deposits, regular gas explode, and burn faster, incomplete, create carbon deposits, that need to be cleaned later on (that is why they use tons of detergents on it) Not saying the premium will make mine better, or I will get better MPG, but I feel my drive better using premium, and that will not change, unless someone prove me wrong, and till now nobody have been able to. The maintenance will change, just a matter of time, not that I care too much mine will be under warranty for 6 more years to come, but I will try to avoid my trips to the dealer... As I stated before, just take two samples of two different gas stations, for both types of gas, regular and premium, you will see with your own eyes the difference, the regular gas has more oils on it, is simply darker, more yellowish, smells differently also, if you want to ignore those facts, that is up to you, if you want more evidence take it to a lab, and you will see the results. In the gas station I used to work while I was a kid, an Amoco station by coincidence, one of the guys worked for Amoco, taking the gas samples that later on were sent to the lab, the results of the gas contaminants out of the samples taken from the regular tanks were always higher than the ones taken from Premium and Silver...A coincidence? Maybe... BTW what facts those "specialists" online show? They only say what they believe, where are their measurements, their statistical data, they only say that, believe that, and period...Everybody has to bow at them... Good luck guys with the "regular savings" and benefits...
  15. It is not a matter of putting more detergents, all the opposite, it is a matter of put less aditives and use just gass. Premium gas has indeed less aditives, not more, and it is a more refined gas and harder to obtain, though the higher price, it has another step in the refinement process (or more) just take two samples of gas, one 87 and one 91, put them in a glass recipient and see them on the light, 87 is yellowish, premium is clear like water, with less crap added, and more crap removed...Engines are desinged to work with the minimum and up gas octane, all that BS added to supposedly "clean the engine" is what indeed do not offer any benefits at all... Buddy I'm a professional, I'm not the type of guy that let the market eat my brain at all. I have worked in God knows how many places, that inlcudes a mechanic shop/gas station...I feel that all my cars had worked better with higher octane gas, as opposed to regular gas, and I use it...period. While it got really expensive, well I used what I could afford, but now there is no reason to fill my tank with regular to save just $2.00 on a tank, honestly. Also think about this, gas deliveries are not free for the gas stations, what sense it make to offer gas that was only designed and used by high performance cars? How many Hi performance cars you have on the streets nowdays versus the ones that are supposed to work with regular? It won't be a lot wiser to fill all tanks with regular and minimize the number of deliveries a month instead? You are not required by law to offer all kinds of gas... Try to climb a very inclined hill with 87, and later on with premium, and let me know if you feel no diference on the performance of the car, if you do, you car will be the first I know of.

I have a full DVD from his last tour, and honestly I was amazed to see how he is able to handle a very intelligent and very funny conversation, and also, he is very smart to say the least...His ranch is a few miles away from GW Bush ranch, and they spoke freq according to him, his wife Laura also knows him...Not sure but for bad they will be, not sure but a Pres of this nation will not cross words with a WT, that is for sure, and she even told him once that they know what he was doing around (politically maybe) and ecouraged him to keep on doing it....and not to say that their security will be compromised if he were just a happy trigger, living so close to him, but no worries....
  17. Took mine today, they were not very cooperative, as usual, and they just wanted to replace the bulbs, after some back and forth finally they agreed to replace all, including the red plastic lens, they ordered the parts, so hopefully next week I will have all new...No more plastic Wedge bulbs in there from now on....

    My New Toy

First of all Lex that was intended to be a joke, OK? Do not take me so seriously, man...LOL... Now a few remarks, Ted Nugent hunts as many people in US, hunting is legal, same as having unloaded weapons home, and also a way of getting rid of some animals that....well there are plenty of excuses for that, so I will not go into that here...Not that I feel is right, but one quick one, deers for example, are dangerous on the roads, once they are left alone behind, and anyway will die in cold winter nights... Ted Nugent is a licenced and active US marshall, not sure if you are aware of that...he is not just a crazy gun firing nut guy, even while I beleive the same you do...In addition to music, Nugent has gotten involved in politics, has issued his own hunting camp and issues instructional videotapes (as well as the Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild PBS video series), owns his own hunting supply store, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association, writes columns regularly for a number of different magazines, and even sells his very own beef jerky (called Gonzo Meat Biltong)! (Just some notes taken from his personal biography...) He is not just a nut WT as we beleive him to be, sorry...He is a bit off the standard we see nowdays, that is true, but not more than many personalities in the art scene we have today... Civilization have always had weapons, that is true, but the real question is not if they have had them or not, but how those have been used, have been always used in a wise way? We know that most of the times they were/are not. Also killing is never an option in my book, sorry, and also against almost all religious believes (with the exception of some bad interpretaions here and there) if you want to go a little deeper...That is true about the constitutional rights of having them also, but let's not find the real reasons behind that...please!!! BTW I'm a sergeant in my native country, and an engineer in minesweeping as well, and I know how to fire, and have enough practice firing as well, and I was pretty good BTW. AKM-47 was the main weapon we used downthere in the days where the testosterone was running my veins in a higher degree than now...but now I will not touch it will a 10' pole, simply I do not feel the need to... BTW for the other posters that are trying to use other excuses, to have an inefficient defensive and protective service, as we have nowdays in the police dpt, are in my opinion, and in others, in no way an excuse to take justice in your hands, ala wild west, as we ahve seen many doing on TV. It is better IMO and what I consider we should do, is to demand, using our constitutional rights, a system that really works and fight for that to happen, and period... BTW do not forget, "the bad guys" also have weapons and most of the times more training of what you beleive, so do not be so sure than having a weapon, an a right ot use it, will keep you protected, at the end all becomes a matter of whom shoots first or better...and period...
  19. To all the Edge 2008 owners, check your tail light bulbs, please!!! Long story short, I found the same crap!!!! I removed mine (2000 miles on it) to replace them with the ones Daniel Stern recommended me, and found the similar problem all the sockets are burned, so please do yourself a favor, those sockets are very close to the gas duct that have fumes in there, it is dangerous to say the least to have such source of overheating so closed to the tank opening....I will take mine tomorrow to the dealer to replace those harness and sockets ASAP....those are indeed burned out!!!
  20. Is there any version not heated, as my SEL has no heated mirrors, IMO to pay for something that will not be used is a waste. BTW do you have the part numbers for those at least???
  21. Just a heads up from Daniel Stern: "...I must caution you in the strongest possible terms that the "LED bulb" idea raised in that thread is not a solution to the problem, and it is extremely dangerous and quite illegal. "LED bulbs", even the fancy ones with multiple emitters facing various directions, cause the vehicle's lamps not to perform in a safe or legal fashion with respect to the intensity of light emitted, the ratio of bright (brake or turn) to dim (tail or park) intensity, and the angles through which the light is distributed. If a vehicle is involved in a collision, and the lighting equipment is found not to be equipped with a legal light source or otherwise not to be performing in the intended manner, the vehicle owner can be exposed to very significant liabilities..." These are the only aftermarkets I would consider as they will not emit as much heat as they have a polimer instead of plastic on the base, and they are also rated for 14volts continuos use, so they will last at least 5 times as much: The amber (front park/turn) ones are here... The clear (rear brake/tail) ones are here... I replace myself the front already, they are plug and play, the rear the same but will do it tomorrow, the intensity of light is more ro less the same to me...
  22. Is not the bar numbers at the end of the paper posted, in the center???
  23. Most of the times the lower gas mileage is due to the driving habits, rather than a car problem, unless you have driven other cars with better results, and is just a lemon...mine is not that good neither. Try to run a couple of tanks of higher octane fuel, in winter I usually go up a grade or if cheap enough put premium on it, according to Ford is a waste, but according to BP is not, higher octane and cleaner gas, according to them, will benfit any car. Given that they teamed together now, not sure who is right or wrong, but just in case, I did my math, 87 is the minimum octane, mixed it with ALCOHOL, and with God knows what, out of the ordinary in any gas tank of the gas stations or any additive not in the right place, and you could lower the octane considerably, and trust me that is not so rare to get that nowdays...We wish to have inspections more often nowadays, but that is not the case...So I bet at least to be the right octane or higher, once in a while...

And you feel the testosterone flowing all your body, you will be a good candidate to the Ted Nugent Band...LOL..A real sausage party eh??? :happy feet: Guys welcome to the 21st century, there is something called "civilization" in which you do not need to go out carring a sword anymore, to get your rights straight...But being honest, even though, once in a while I would like to have one of those around.... :shades:
  25. To be honest, I much prefer the stock one to those "artistic creations" I have seen around (including this one)...
