  1. Jaak, this will vary greatly depending on where you live. At least here in the states. Some states, such as Iowa have mandated 10% ethanol in all grades of gas as a subsidy to the ag and ethanol industry.
  2. MOS, I am just trying to point out that while the impact of a tire going flat vs an appearence issue is much more serious with the flat, the likelyhood of the tire going flat is very small vs the chrome flaking off of the chrome clads.
  3. I have noted quite a bit of difference in gas mileage when using gasoline with 10% ethanol added. On a recent 1000 mile trip, I would get as high as 22.6 mpg using gas without ethanol, and as low as 19.6 using the 10% ethanol blend. That may have been what was causing the difference in mileage noted by the OP.
  4. Maybe you missed my post, but the fact of the matter is, Ford has done a terrible job with these chrome clad wheels. They are prone to bubbling and flacking of the chrome, as well as a brassing defect near the hubs.
  5. In theory, the chrome clad wheels should be better than an actual chromed steel wheel. Unfortunately, ford did not apply the theory very well. I will keep having Ford replacing the 20" chrome clad wheels that bubble and flake until my warranty expires, and then I will buy something else.
  6. I understand the concept you are trying to get across, but it does not change the fact that placing your mirrors in this configuration makes them useless for backing up. I think adding the blind spot mirrors gives you the best of both. My F250 of course has dual mirrors, and it has sort of spoiled me.
  7. In some states, there is a law that you must have your lights on if the wipers are on. I assume this is where this came from.
  8. What makes you say that blazed up? The way the adhesive strips are attached to the back, there is no possible way to keep water from getting behind the part. Having a very small gap at the bend will not make that any more of a problem.
  9. It really does look better in real life than in the photos.
  10. Additionally, this is the description of the bumper protector available from ford. "Affix this scuff-resistant vinyl appliqué to the top of your vehicle’s rear bumper in order to help protect the upper surface from paint damage that can occur during the loading and unloading of cargo." I wanted something a little more substantial than a "scuff resistant vinyl applique". The part from Bushwhacker is very substantial.
  11. akirby, I use my side mirrors to back out of a rather long and somewhat twisting driveway. Setting up the side mirrors to eliminate the blind spot makes them useless for backing up. I think the addition of the blind spot mirrors is my next mod. I just wanted to point out that your solution to the blind spot problem does not work for everyone.
  12. I got my bumper protector Friday from trdsparks. I installed it, and five hours later left for a 1200 mile weekend roadtrip. The install could not have been easier. The whole thing including a good wash down of the bumper didn't take 5 minutes. The fit is great. I will take some pics when I get a chance. BTW, it looks the same as the bushwhacker in the original post, so I think the part number problem noted above is a non-issue.
  13. I have indeed looked under the dash and not found anything obvious. It is a mechanical rattle, not an electronic tick. It has not been doing it much of late, maybe the last time I had the service tech ride with me, it fixed it.
  14. It does sound like it comes from near the steering column, but does not happen when turning. It is more like a rattle when going over uneven road surfaces.
  15. I doubt mine is the windshield. The sound seems to come from very low in the dash.
  16. My wifes edge also has a ticking noise from somewhere behind the steering wheel. It is not always present, but getting a service tech to ride in the car always makes it go away. On two occasions, I have had the ticking noise while driving to the dealership, only to have it disappear as soon as the service guy enters the car.
  17. My wife has an 08 limited awd with the 20" pirellis on it. They worked great last winter in a heavier than normal winter for snow fall.
  18. I was driving the wifes edge at dusk last night. I didn't have any trouble reading the numbers on the gauges. I tried everything from minimum back lighting to full on. Sorry your wife is having trouble with hers, but I didn't see a problem.
  19. The Pirelli scorpions that came on my wifes edge did a very nice job in the snow this past winter. They are of course 20 inchers.
  20. Is it your intention to say that Ford and Audi are less than all other SUVs and Crossovers? If not, you need to pay more attention in your algebra class.
  21. I just ordered mine. Thanks for the tip.
  22. Jeff, based on your comments in the sport peddle thread, I don't think you have the kill switch. Look at the pics posted in the original thread again. The port pictured in the peddle thread is also shown to the right in the pics in this thread. That is the OBD 2 port. The kill switch is the second connector to the left in the pics in this thread. BTW, I have hooked up a code reader to the OBD 2 port, so I know it is not a kill switch.
  23. Sorry Jeff, but the port in the picture is indeed the obd 2 connector. The kill switch in question is a second similar looking connector that is mounted to the left of the one pictured.
  24. The plug on the right should be there. It is for hooking up to the diagnostic computer. The plug on the left is the one in question here. I don't have one btw.
  25. igciting, are you sure you are not seeing the normal diagnostic plug? Do you have two connectors under the dash or one?
