  1. FYI, that vehicle's actual build date was 8/9.

All Ford vehicles use a direct sensor that measures the actual pressure in the tire. I would expect the batteries to last at least 10 years, since they are programmed to "go to sleep" when the tires are not spinning. Plus when you are driving down the road and everything is normal, the sensors only emit a signal once every 2 minutes.
  3. This is not always true, though it usually means the vehicle is scheduled for production. Usually the window sticker is generated 1-2 days before the vehicle hits the line.
  4. That's what Sync does, it helps you navigate. It can make playlists, sort by album, genre, artist and play from specific folders within an MP3 source. But to answer your question, yes you can play MP3 CDs as well, if you want to go "old school".
  5. Nope, won't make a difference at all, unless you're on a really steep, slippery boat ramp.
  6. If you go driving around Milton you'll probably find fields of 2011 Edges.
  7. I can guarantee that there were issues they had to fix on your vehicle if it was built on July 16th..
  8. It's not really "a problem", more like hundreds of small problems.
  9. rmmick, you're living in the past. New model changeovers no longer require a shutdown period, unless it's a major change like Michigan Truck being converted to build Focuses. The 2011 Edges starting building at the same time as 2010 Edges (and Flexes) were still being produced on the same line. There was no shutdown period at all. The plants do still shutdown for a couple weeks at Christmas and in the summer. That's when major equipment and maintenance work is done, but it's no longer tied to model year changeovers.
  10. Bolting on anything big and heavy like a hitch to the front of any car is going to screw up the airbag signals and change the frame's response in a crash. A tow hook would be a much better solution.
  11. All Edges are built in Oakville, Ontario. But being close to the plant doesn't help resolve quality issues. If your vehicle isn't perfect coming off the line (and at this stage in production it's probably about a 50/50 chance), then it will be held until the issues are fixed. That could take one day or it could take 4 weeks. There's no way to know right now.
  12. Well even that's not a sure bet. The very first production units of a new model are usually allocated to management, but that's because they usually have the most quality issues. Once vehicles start shipping, management vehicles are given the lowest priority for repairs and shipping. I've seen these vehicles and you would not want one, even if you got it early. After the initial start of a new model, management vehicles are usually given the lowest priority. A manager I know recently waited over 2 months for delivery of his Flex, even though it was the middle of the model year.
  13. You are correct - it uses an SD card. The benefit of the Sync subscription is that it uses a different database, so some POIs that aren't on the SD card will be in the Sync service. The traffic info is also a benefit, though the Sirius travelink is more useful. Sync also offers stuff like sports scores, news, stock quotes, horroscopes and stuff like that. When using Sync for directions with a Nav system, the Sync just downloads the destination to the Nav system, then the Nav calculates the route and gives the directions.
  14. If you get the navigation option (8in touch screen) it does. The base models require the subscription.
  15. Did you not read my post on the first page?
  16. You are lucky. This delay is likely the best thing that could have happened to you. Not only will you get a vehicle built with much better quality, but you will probably get it sooner. I predict that vehicles built on August 30th will ship before vehicles built on July 12, as they won't be held for nearly as many quality retrofits.
  17. There are plenty of drivers out there for whom the cruise control is a high tech device well beyond their level of comprehension. Were they to accidentally brush the set button, they would have no idea why their car doesn't slow down when they let off the gas. Lawsuits would abound. Forcing people to press the on button eliminates the chance of accidental activation.
  18. The plant will not ship any vehicles until they're sure the quality is up to par. So far that hasn't happened yet, so the chances of getting one the first week of August - given that that's next week - is pretty much zero. I would be surprised if there are any 2011s in dealers before September.
  19. It will not be available anytime close to September.
  20. It's probably done for wiring harness complexity. Not creating a 3.7L Edge with HID/ACC would reduce the number of wiring harnesses needed by 1.
  21. Please read my post on the first page of this thread. There is no way that ANYBODY can give you an ETA on delivery right now.
  22. Or more likely they sat on their hands, not willing to compromise their brand image and only finally capitulated and entered the CUV market. They took a bunch of parts out of the parts bin, hired a couple contract engineers and put the product out. I don't read magazine articles, I read actual objective data measured on real cars. If you could see the data that I've seen, you would understand that the Q7 is nothing special.
  23. Nice idea, but the Sync system is not connected to the Sirius. If it were, you'd already be able to control Sirius with voice commands. Other Fords like the Fusion, Escape and Flex have a direct programming button that lets you type in the channel number, but they all have 10-digit "preset" buttons.
