Not sure where you got your info from, but the only 2011 Edges that exist are fully camouflaged, hand-built prototype test vehicles. Those cars are usually in very short supply and would never be used for a retiree ride and drive. Maybe there was a studio property shown, but that's it.

Ford's AWD system seems to take a while to break-in fully. 3500km is not enough, don't even think about fuel mileage until you have at least 5000km.

I just came across this thread now, but this all makes perfect sense. Tires have a natural tendency to pull in one direction, and manufacturing variation makes some pull more than others. If you had two tires that both pulled to the "inside" originally, but one on each side of the car, they would cancel each other out. If the dealer rotated in modified X pattern by switching just two of the tires to the opposite side and moving the other two forwards or backwards, then you can end up with both of the pulling tires on the same side, and now you will feel it. That's why you should always rotate just front to back. So if this is truely the case, then swapping the front tires from one side to the other will set the tires up so they are cancelling each other out again. Hopefully you can visualize that, and hopefully this has fixed your problem.

The Flex chassis has NOTHING in common with the Edge. The Flex is a stretched out Taurus X, not Edge. But both the Edge and Flex are built on the same line in Oakville.

Ford switched to 5W20 for the fuel economy benefit. They did some testing using the engines that were already designed to run on 5W30, found there was no significant change in wear characteristics, so decided to recommend it on all engines. As the owner's guide says, 5W20 is the "optimal" oil for fuel economy and durability. It's not the best for either one, but it's a good compromise. Personally I use 5W30 Mobil 1 because Costco doesn't sell it in 5W20.

BRAND NEW EDGE LTD AWD 2009 Headlight brightness, Any help?
Waldo replied to arcsalisu's topic in Welcome Forum!
If you're used to an Elantra, then the extra height of the Edge will make it seem like they aren't as bright. The further your eyes are above the source of the light, the dimmer they will seem. -
No, it certainly does not do this. It's purely for noise reduction and will not affect the performance of the engine in any way.

With all the money OEMs spend on research and added cost to the vehicles to improve fuel economy, do you really think that they would have missed this if it really worked?
-
Since the EPA bases all the CAFE calculations and emissions certifications on what the designated model year of a vehicle is, not when it was manufactured, you can bet that your 09 is just like every other 09.

The autolocks won't come on until you hit 12mph, but there are a couple things you can do. 1st if you just hit the unlock button on the key once, it will only unlock the driver's door. Your wife can get it and start driving and all the other doors will stay locked. Once she gets to 12mph the driver's door will lock. 2nd, the door lock button on the door won't lock the doors when the key is in the ignition, that's to prevent you from locking your keys in the car. She could hit that button before she starts the car, or she could hit the lock button on the key after starting the car. Then the doors will stay locked. 3rd, are you really worried about this? I disabled the autolocks on my car, and I live in Detroit!

Raising fuel taxes is a great idea, but reducing performance through electronic limiting is dumb. You're still getting all the inefficiencies of a high power engine with very little benefit. A V6 "limited" SUV is still going to burn more fuel then a 4 cylinder "unlimited" SUV under most conditions even though both will have the same performance. Better to just give the rebate to the guy who buys the 4-cyl.

Since when did Navteq and Ford part ways? All 2010 Fords will be built with updated Navteq maps. I've heard that an update disc is coming, but because it requires unique formatting and has to be made compatible with all vehicles and software levels, it's taken a bit of time

It's true that the air will be colder, but you will have less of it coming out, so the net effect in the cabin will not necesarily be a colder temperature. I could put one ice cube in my drink and leave it in there until it melts, or I can put 10 ice cubes in there and take them out after 5 minutes. Which one will give me a colder drink after 10 minutes? Not quite sure I understand the point here. You don't want to run the compressor in the winter, so you rigged up a switch that does the same thing as the A/C button? Using the compressor in the winter keeps the humidity down and keeps the windows from fogging up. Are you suggesting people should drive around with fogged windows? The heater core has a door over it. When the climate system is trying to cool the car, the door is closed, so the cool air does not pass through the heater core. I guess it's true that the door itself would heat up a bit with the hot water passing through the core, but limiting the flow of coolant would increase the chances of your engine overheating.

There is a voluntary agreement out there that (I think) all manufacturers follow with regards to what can and can't be activated while driving. So you will find the same issue on all built-in NAV systems. At least with the 2009 system you can do almost everything by voice. Sure the car is smart enough to know that a passenger is in the vehicle, but there's still no way to ensure that even with a passenger, it's not the driver doing the inputting.
-
Only the amp is made by Sony, the NAV unit itself is made by Xanavi - a division of Hitachi. I think the hard drive is made by Clarion. It's essentially the same system that Nissan uses. Even if you find one on Ebay though, there is a lot more to installing it than just bolting it in, do a search there are a couple threads. As for 2010, the system will still be available. SYNC 3.0 is a totally separate system that offers some (but not all) Nav functions for those who don't want to pay for the full system.

Seems kind of strange, but there's no reason it can't be fixed properly. A headliner is just one part, put a new one in and be happy!

One Touch Moonroof open/close
Waldo replied to johnsix54's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
There's no pinch protection circuit in the moonroof, so there's no factory method to auto close. I thought they all opened with one-touch though. -
What's an EB 25?

Sounds like you are putting the shifter in L instead of D. Unless by accelerating hard you mean full or nearly full throttle. In which case 6000rpm is perfectly normal, that's what every automatic transmission does.

I beleive the MKX's sold in Korea have the power fold-in mirror. I think the part is installed off-line in the "mod" center, but it means there should be a Ford part number out there.

Are you talking about saving a song from a CD or from a song you here on Sirius? If it's from a CD, then it's as KMAN describes. If it's from Sirius, then it's not actually saved, it's just remembered that you like that song. You can't play the song anytime you want, but anytime that song is being played on any Sirius channel, it will bring up a reminder and ask you if you want to change to that channel.

IIRC the old Ford systems used to just say LO and HI instead of 60 and 90. As akirby states, it isn't really 60 degrees, it's just a maximum setting.
-
The answer must be because Ford did a lot of customer reasearch and found that nobody ever wanted it cooler than 65! You must be one in a million! I've got to beleive that if 65 is too warm for you in the winter, you'd be better off just turning the system off. It will still allow fresh outside air in.
-
Forgive me for asking a silly question, but why would you want to use gas to run the air conditioning when you could just open your jacket? I don't think I've ever wanted it lower than 70 degrees in the winter, even when wearing a heavy jacket.
