  1. I just checked my sticker and it does not say that it has a filter. Mine is an 08 SEL with manual air conditioning. Is it an option or should I have a filter also? Thanks.
  2. There is a thread on here about how the Scion xB bumper protector fits the Edge very well, and it is thick and tough and looks really nice. I am really happy with mine. It covers the entire area in front of the rear opening.
  3. I wondered that. Maybe they took it apart and saw more than they did Monday. I was told that they put in a rush order, "that means top priority" he says. Really? Why would I get priority over anyone else? He was trying to smooth things over even though I did not react to it. Guessing he thought I would go nuts after the whole offering me a loaner after I inconvenienced half the world today.
  4. Dealer already called to tell me they cannot fix it. It needs a new 'special' revised seal that they have to order, will take three weeks. Three more weeks of nausea from the smell. Can anyone enlighten me on this seal issue? Said I could have a loaner next time no problem. They washed it. At least I will look good.
  5. Took it in today, and after I get there with a ride to work they offer me a car.
  6. Love you guys on this forum. I was able to print the png files on one of my computers at home, so the files do work. I plan to take it in tomorrow, and considering the rotten day I have already had today, have mercy on anyone over there that makes it difficult. Hope to have good news to post, not an arrest report.
  7. The iPhone 3G skips, the 3Gs does not. With the 3G you cannot use any steering wheel controls and with the 3Gs you can use volume and that is it. The iPhone and Sync get unfriendly with each other a lot. I find that if I reboot my iPhone every other day or so I get better results. My iPod gets tempermental with the Sync too.
  8. You are awesome, thank you. Printed right up. Did not mean to make so much work for you.
  9. I saw they were png so thought photoshop would print it. Just tried the jpg's and not working here. I will try both file types tonite when I get home on my computer. Thanks for posting those. Will let you know if I get them printed.
  10. k_m--I printed your post and am working on trying to print the pictures. I may have to open them in photoshop at home. Not having any luck on my work computer. Any suggestions? It was definitely leaking today. It is so horrible it makes me feel sick. Yuck.
  11. I have my garage door opener in the sunglass holder over the rear view mirror. I have the button where the little indent is. Depending on the style of your opener, you may be able to hide it there.
  12. No worries, I totally understand, and I still appreciate the tips very much. I was only commenting that it is unfortunate that I cannot find some drips myself to say it is such and such a color, etc. Hoping they diagnosed it correctly and will fix it the first time, and if they don't fix it, they will get it back until they do. Or soemone will get it as a trade when I buy a 2011. (We'll see . . .)
  13. Wow, more pictures. Thanks. Unfortunately, I have not been able to catch it in the act of leaking. I keep checking the garage floor and do not see anything out of the ordinary. No puddles or funny colored drips. I think it starts leaking after I start driving and burns off shortly after, ridding of the evidence. I am definitely printing this and the other post with the information.
  14. Yeah, they seem decent enough. The fact that I did not leave mad is a good sign for me. My first service experience ever was with my first new car, a 1992 Grand Prix. It had electrical problems from the start, and when the power window stopped working the service guy asked me if I was sure it was broken or did I not know how to use it? Have never had a warm fuzzy feeling for service departments. Back in the day the dealers used to hand out loaners but things changed about 10 years ago or so. I think a lot of it has to do with insurance and liability. At one point the Chevy dealer I went to offered to set up rentals thru Enterprise, but that was expensive. A day in the shop would cost two days rental. Ouch. Around here I notice a lot of luxury courtesy cars.
  15. Thank you very much. To me it looks like one seal, #13. #12 is shown without a seal or is it assumed there is a seal? Or is #13 the double seal?
  16. So if the seals are in the same place shouldn't they replace both? I was told this seal is in the front in a different location than the PTU seal. Seems like whenever I think I got it I don't. Is there a diagram available to look at? It is under warranty, I only have 10,000 miles on it. I was not offered a loaner. Maybe because I did not buy it there? Silly me, thinking if I bought a new car that I would not spend my days getting it fixed like the old one.
  17. Took the Edge in for an oil change and to ask about the horrible smell coming from underneath. I let the service manager know I had done some research and asked if it was maybe the PTU. Unfortunately since I had been driving it all morning the smell had gone away. He said they would be happy to check it out while it was up in the air. Not the PTU. It is the front axle seal that is leaking. Have to find a time to leave it for the day when I can hitch a ride to work so they can replace it, maybe Friday. This is the dealer that was so helpful after I had a tire rotation at another dealer in October and the Edge was pulling hard to the left. He made sure the tech knew about the front tires being switched at that time to properly rotate them today. The service manager came into the waiting room and sat down with me to explain what the leak was. Made my day to be treated so well. So nice not to be talked down to and scolded like the other dealer has done twice. Going for service does not seem so scary anymore.
  18. Good advice. Sorry that happened to you and glad everyone is ok. Last week I was driving to work doing 55 and some jerk in a snow covered Jeep pulled out in front of me and had to slam on the brakes to avoid him while at the same time I was totally blinded by the snow flying off of his car. Appartently not just the roads that are dangerous in the winter.
  19. I have got to have one of these! Wow. I sure hope the pricing does not get out of reach. I like the wheels. I have always been a fan of the spoke wheels.

    PTU

Thank you so much bbf. I just want to put you in my pocket and take you home! How do you know all that you know about Fords? You must be in the biz. The traction control is very likely, I took that turn pretty fast and there is a lot of everything on the ground right now-snow, ice, salt, sand. Did not feel it slip, which is pretty cool. I did not realize that the traction control robs power from the engine, nice safety feature. I had better behave. The PTU explanation makes total sense and now feel able to discuss it intelligently with the boys. Hoping that the smell will be present when I take it in. Thank you again. (Need some female emoticons.)
  21. If you disable the bluetooth on the phone it will stop. However, then sync won't work. If it starts streaming, on the iPhone you can change the audio source from sync to speaker and then just pause your music and it will stop.

    PTU

I need to get an oil change, so I am going to bring up the stinkiness that goes on with my Edge sometimes. In a previous thread, the likely suspects were antifreeze smell or the PTU. Two questions: Last nite I was driving and turned a left corner and seemed to lose power for a few seconds, then was able to accelerate. Related to PTU or a fluke thing? Also, so I can intelligently speak with the scary service guys, what does PTU stand for, where is it and what does it do specifically. Is it just a seal or gasket? A in a nutshell response would be great. BBF, hope you read this. Thanks.
  23. The plows were going by all nite, they usually do not make the house shake. There was no sound to go with it, just the windows rattling so I figured it was not that. And it was pretty violent shaking and swaying, those few seconds seemed like an eternity. I was pretty sure it wasn't something hitting the house either, but I checked anyway. Two years ago I did have a car speed through my front yard, thru my landscape and hit the car in the driveway sending it thru the fence and into a tree, missing the garage by about two inches, so nothing would have surprised me, but this sure did!
  24. I would bet if you put the seat way back you could get them in. Guessing the lip at the back of the mat might get caught on the lever.
