  1. For years I have wondered why they even bother with rear wipers.

To Toyota an empire is at stake. Our little lives are meaningless compared to what they have to lose. Walking into work this morning I remembered that last month a car accelerated and wound up on the sidewalk in front, and it was a Toyota. Luckily no one was walking there. No one thought much of it because this kind of thing happens often here. Last year a BMW wound up in the dining room of a sandwich shop and a Mini Cooper rolled out of its spot and halfway down the parking lot.
  3. Ok. Today the stinky Edge was fixed. Thank goodness it was done in one day because my rental car had to come from Enterprise, and it was a full size Dodge pickup with a crew cab. Drove it to work and it did not even fit in the parking spot. The Ford service guy almost bust a gut when I told him what I was driving. I thanked him profusely for getting it back to me today. Here is how the service ticket reads for the techies. L65 C FRT AXLE SEAL LEAKING Installed 8T4Z 7275 DC KIT-SEAL DIAG REPLACED INTSHAFT SEAL LEAKING Explanations welcome. And thank you for all of the help with this in earlier posts.

I agree-criminal. It is very sad how many lives have been lost. In the Chicago Tribune Sunday there was an article showcasing a bunch of accidents where people perished. There is a guy in jail for manslaughter and they are going to look at the car again, it is still in as evidence. Terrible stories. This will definitely change things.
  5. You mean work the bugs out like the 08, 09 and 10 PTU problem? I'm to the point where I will take my chances. You will love the 2010, esp if you got a sport. I hear the seats are really nice. You can always sell it and get a new one. Being the only one sounds like a sellers market.

Thank you for the info. Every car should have brake override then. It's like we advance and fall behind at the same time with technology.

The forum is slow, so I thought I would ask this burning question I have. Keeping up with current events I read whatever stories land online about the Toyota/Honda/GM recalls. For Toyota specifically the claims are that the gas pedal 'sticks', etc and they cannot stop. Up until now I had always thought that the brake always overrides the gas pedal. Is this completely wrong, or was it true with older vehicles, in the days of the carburator vs electronics maybe? I know this is a dumb question but am curious. Thanks.
  8. I got the Ford one because I like how it does not wrap around the sides.
  9. Mine started after the Edge sat for about 6 weeks. At that point it was very cold out. At first it was once in awhile and then it was more often and it also happens sooner now. The other day it smelled before I even pulled out of the garage. Just today I got the call that the parts are in so tomorrow it is going back to the dealer.
  10. I can see it on the edges of my rims also. Waiting to see how bad they are once winter is over.
  11. No smoke. The smell is absolutely horrible. Very nauseating, at least to me. When I first smelled it I thought I was driving near a natural gas leak. When I got home and out of the car I realized it was the Edge. Get it checked for her.
  12. Are the seals they are using to replace the defective seals designed at all differently, or are they replacing with the same?
  13. I have been concerned myself. I just got a call from the dealer saying that the seals that I need will be off backorder next week and begin to ship, so looking at minimum two more weeks. Today I was thinking about the long term on these affected vehicles. Right now it is under warranty but what happens when it is not and maybe the seals go again? How much is it to fix it? I would love to get a 2011 just not sure if the $$ will be there to do it.
  14. You mean like a Toyota? Or roll the dice on a Honda? All cars have problems no matter who makes them.
  15. Hey your dad stole that from me, ha ha. The Edge is my first new car since 1998 when I bought a new Cavalier Z24. Every vehicle I have ever bought, new or used, has given me trouble. Had an old Trans Am in high school and that thing was always broken down. Took my moms Camaro and it was always stalling. First new with the sticker on it car was a Grand Prix, had electrical problems. Then a Blazer with an eternal oil leak. Slightly used Tahoe blew a fuel pump. The Blazer I had before the Edge was used and had problems but was good to me, never left me stranded, always broke down at home or another safe place. The Cavalier was the only car out of them all that did not give me trouble but it was run over by a snow plow.
  16. I wondered if this was a cold climate issue but was worried it was a dumb question. How about that. I bought mine last year as winter broke and did not have issues until this past December when it got super cold here. At the risk of asking a dumb question, are the 2011's designed at all differently or is this something that will follow the next generation of Edge?
  17. Be sure to let us know if another co-pilot enters your lives.
  18. Not odd behavior, disturbing behavior. Even if someone were to go ape on them the service manager should be able to hold it together a little better and listen to the customer's concerns about what they feel is wrong, whether there is something wrong or not.
  19. I have the Ford one too and gave up after one set of holes.
  20. Well, if you knew my luck, it would make total sense. The planets are always out of alignment for me. I hope my fix works as well as yours. I will definitely be posting about my experience because everyone loves ANOTHER PTU story. (haha)
  21. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/4583-found-the-horrible-smell/ Check out this topic. Hopefully it helps. I am having problems and k_m has been more than helpful with posting pics and explanations. It is a widespread problem in the Edge. There are tons of other posts about it also. I have an 08 with the same problem and am waiting weeks for repair parts.
  22. My 08 has 10k miles and possibly two seals leaking. Dealer said three weeks to get parts.
  23. AWD or FWD? Expect it to take twice as long to get fixed as it would for a male owner to get it fixed.
