There was an earthquake centered in Gilberts IL this morning around 4 am. I woke up to the house shaking side to side. I am about 20 miles from the epicenter of it. Had no idea what it was until I turned on the news in the morning. The winds were blowing super strong overnite so I thought it was a violent burst of wind or something had hit the house. It was quite terrifying. Got up to check and could not find anything out of the ordinary. However, it explains a lot. One of my fosters was so wound up last nite, would not relax. One of my dogs got me up at 3 am to let her out, which never happens and my other foster was pacing in her pen and drinking a lot of water, a sign of stress in dogs. As it was happening I could hear one of my small birds fall off of his perch and start cussing, and my other dog got up and was roaming the house like he was lost. What a wild night!

I like the new back end and new wheels, not so much the front end. The electronics are outstanding. Wild stuff. Will Edge be seeing the same electronics, and also will it have the more powerful engine or is this an option? I am going to save my pennies for a 2011. Very cool.

No vehicle can beat an icy hill. Sounds like you have really put it to the test. I have not driven in extreme snow, but have experienced a few bouts of very icy rain and snow, like today. Glad to know I can get through the snow and get to work when it hits. We are looking at getting 14 inches by tomorrow afternoon her. Ick.

When I ordered my vent visors I tried to get them through retailers with free shipping and they were sold out, 3-4 week wait, so I ordered from Weathertech directly and it still took over two weeks. They are running tv ads for the mats, so maybe they ran out? I also found their customer service to be a little rude when I asked to purchase extra tape pieces for the front visors, like I offended them telling them I needed to replace them.

As far as I know it was just the radio, I did not look at the message center, and I do not have a digital a/c display.

A few weeks ago my radio suddenly turned off. It had done it one or two other times also. I wonder if there is some kind of surge protection that kicks in sometimes.

There is a forum online called 'A Rubber Door' that talks about this in length. Some fixes mentioned are to turn off the wifi, the location services, etc-but then there is so much you cannot use your iPhone for like maps, without turning everything back on. The iPhone is not completely compatible with the Sync so it skips and you cannot use all of the steering wheel controls either, just volume. Life is better with the iPhone/iPod plugged into the usb. I originally used my iPhone as an iPod in the car and I started having trouble with the phone functions acting up, so I got a little Nano just for the car.

Being 6'2" do you raise the headrest so that you are against the flat part of it, not fighting the top where it angles toward your head? I think this is what people complain about and why it moves up and down so that it is positioned correctly.

I have an 08 with the 18" chrome wheels. I have been very happy with it this winter. We have had our share of ice this winter also, which makes me more nervous than snow to drive on. The only thing I have noticed with the Edge vs my 4WD trucks is that you lose a little grip on turns in the snow, not sure if it is the tires or the AWD making the difference.

I tried to get one of those things on three different times. It is sitting in my garage. An insane person designed it. I think the pictures you see of them online are deceiving of how it actually looks installed.

I am pretty convinced that the country's financial situtation and their own is making them fight for the business however they can get it now. Right now people can't pay their necessary bills let along pay for XM radio so I am sure they are losing business left and right. That does not give them the right to be dishonest and sneaky. The people I talked to sounded Aamerican, but the guy I talked to in December definitely was in one of those places . . .

I was under the impression that they are illegal. They outlawed tire chains, these would do the same damage to the roads.

It was great when you could stream XM online, I used it all of the time. When they stopped that I dragged my system to the office. I have had it on auto renewal all of these years and that is why I cancelled, did not want it to hit the card. I am using my old iPhone as an iPod in the office, just had to get a little set of speakers and I am all set. Will save money in years to come and I can load my own tunes, the ones I don't hear on XM anymore. 2009 was an expensive year for me and I felt this was one way to save a few dollars and still enjoy my tunes. If I still enjoyed the programming I probobly would have given in. I know XM is in financial trouble, another reason I did not want to drop $$ for a year of service and then lose it if they go under. I am just so mad at them for their unfair actions, borders on a scam.

I have driven GM cars since I learned how to drive, GM cars date back to my grandparents on both sides. They almost had to pry my Blazer out of my cold dead hands. I really liked how the Edge looked but felt awkward switching to Ford. When I needed to give in and buy a car last year I decided to get the Edge and get over my GM fetish because of the situation the automakers were in. I felt GM really dropped the ball financially and honestly they have nothing I would really want to drive. GM has their hand out again and Ford is posting profits. I am glad I supported this company. And they are bringing an Explorer plant to Chicago.

Since 2004 I have had an XM radio, the last few years I have had it in my office. With the merge of Sirius and XM things have just changed too much and I decided to not renew my radio this year. I have mentioned this in a few XM posts recently. I received a letter in December stating that it was up for renewal Jan 24 2010. Before Christmas I called to cancel it. I was told it would not renew. Surprise. Yesterday I came back to work after being off sick and out of habit turned it on. It works. So I go online to check my credit card and sure enough they renewed it for a year and charged me $164.00. This is after all of the harassing calls for the XM in the Edge, so I was hot. I called my card and put in a dispute. Then I called XM to cancel it. She kept me on the phone for 20 minutes trying to get me to keep it. How about half price? How about half price minus 25 dollars? We would be happy to refund the difference. I would have none of it. Then she tells me that they will refund me a prorated amount. I told her no way, I cancelled in plenty of time. Finally when I told her I had a dispute in with the credit card she agreed to refund the whole thing. So be warned if you cancel an XM radio that is already being paid on a credit card.

How about some fluffy seat covers? Mmaybe get a memory foam mattress pad and cut a piece the shape of the back of the seat and put under a fluffy seat cover. I think I am one of the few that finds the seats to be just fine, headrest seat and all. I have the cloth also.

I have an 08 also and the usb works fine with my ipods. Maybe something was wrong with it?

Wow, do they know how he got it? At a kennel or dog park? Is he on meds forever? Poor guy.

Hurtman, so very sorry for your loss. In April 2007 during the dog food contamination crisis I lost both of my Italian Greyhounds in an 18 hour time period. While trying to save the one with kidney failure the other died of sudden heart failure. I know the sound of a suddenly empty house. My dogs are my babies too. I hope you and your wife find peace.
