  1. It is the one that Ford makes. It has the look I like, does not wrap around the sides and low profile. Some people here had posted about it so I decided it was the best choice. I am guessing they make it just hard enough that the dealer has to install it for some of us.
  2. I took it off, so I will have to put back on to get a pic. The outside screws/brackets is what is not working. We did the 4 in the middle and it looked good. The rubber things fit without being tight and distorting the shield, which is what happened the first time, and the creases in the hood matched up with the shield, but the outer edges would not go into place. For example in order to curve the shield around the hood and make the screw holes on the outer to go beyond the inside edge of the hood I had to force it with everything I had and that does not seem right. And the shield edges were way inside the edges of the hood, not even with it. I am disappointed that after having put three of these on my Chevy's that this thing is kicking my behind, and all I have to show for it is a hood full of holes. If you have a picture of under the hood I would be interested to see how it is supposed to look.
  3. Tried again today to get the thing on. Now I have a bunch of holes under my hood and no deflector. Got the center screws in and the deflector looked good. When we tried to do the outside brackets it would not fit. No amount of bending or persuading it would get it to even begin to look right. So it is either going back or in the trash.
  4. So you're saying some Edge's have gout? Could it be a wire?
  5. Any chance you would be willing to post a picture or two? An under the hood one would be a great help. I am nervous about drilling and getting it wrong. A visual may give me some more confidence. Also, what did you use on the holes before installing? Primer? Thanks.
  6. Got the Ford hood deflector. The instructions are not bad, there is a diagram showing how the edge of the hood should fit in it, etc. It is also marked for center which helps. However, we cannot get the stupid thing on. It just does not seem to fit. The outside edges really won't curve around unless I were to maybe push it too hard. Did not want to break it. And it seemed that no matter how it was placed it was not right-no room between the hood and deflector, too far out, and once it seemed right but then realized it was not centered. The other thing that when we gave up and put it away I noticed a perfect line down the center a little less that a quarter inch long, pretty deep into the deflector right in the center. We were very careful with it, do not think we did the damage. Is it possible that this thing is defective or are they that hard to put on? I had these things on my Blazer and were always easy to install. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  7. Man, I had to pay $50.00. But worth every penny if it ever has to dial 911 for me. The vehicle report is fun too.
  8. They will fix it. Cars now do not have the famous frames that when bent were considered a total. The front took the impact and crumpled like it is supposed to to protect the insides. The 'frame' is deep in the center. Please post how the paint turns out, I have the same color. And hopefully everyone is ok. I was hit last year by a 16 yo with a month old license. Knocked the body of my truck off of the frame and gave me a concussion. After almost a year of post accident treatment the worst of it has been his insurance company, so be ready. Document everything and I hope the person that hit you was issued a ticket. It helps a lot. Now I know why my parents always worried so much when I was that age!
  9. No. You bought a new car with a new car price tag and it should have a new car paint job. If they do not make it right immediately you need to contact Ford. With the current economic climate, last thing they need is you telling people how unhappy you are with your new car. And stay away from that bodyshop. They obviously do not care what their work looks like.
  10. Dont park under a tree, that is what mine got full of this weekend.
  11. I hope it works better than Sync. Mine acts like I don't speak english, I cannot even use it to make calls and if I tell it to pause or play it keeps asking me 'did I hear you correctly'? Geez. No hablo sync.
  12. We all shopped for Edge's and know you paid a bunch for a limited. And I am sure because you ordered it you did not get a 'deal' of any kind. So, for what you paid, if it were me I would be mad, like on fire mad. First of all, how can they expect someone to take delivery of a mess like that? Second, what body shop are they using that they cannot match NEW paint? I had a Chevy Blazer ZR2, the offroad one with the metallic grey fender flares and bumpers and the paint had a flat finish. I bought it used and a few years later had the damaged bumper replaced and painted and it looked factory the shop did such a good job. If they could replicate that, any bodyshop should be able to computer match blue paint and put it on right. And God forbid you ever have an accident, then what? Will they paint it yellow? After my accident last year they had to repaint 70% of my Blazer. I hope you know of a better bodyshop if you ever need one personally. I am lucky that my paint looks great. I bought an AWD strippo model and I cringe when I make the payment. I would break down and cry while writing the check if I had a paint job like yours. Call Ford, get help. Don't stand for this. Ask for a new paint job or new car. Kick someone's ***.
  13. Is the red you are seeing possibly overspray from another car? What you describe sounds like a nightmare. I would call Ford, they have people to deal with this kind of stuff.
  14. Unless something has changed, like using the usb, they have to take out the radio and wire it from the back. I had one installed on my old truck and it fried the battery and wire harness. There are a few different screen views available on the radio display. None of them work for you?
  15. They are VERY cool. I like how they come out of the tire. How will the ride be with such narrow sidewalls? Or is it better to look good than to feel good?
  16. Wow, thank you for so much info. I will try to get the dull areas with some soap and a soft brush. I tried it with water and a rag because I did not know what was safe to use. The face of the wheels look great, the insides of the spokes need some more work. And I am a fan of Meguiars, good stuff. Unfortunately I have to depend on using the car wash because it is difficult for me to do it myself, and especially being in a cold climate I need to wash in the winter to keep the salt off. I do make sure to only use car washes that are touchless and do not have the rails around the wheels or go to Turtlewax and have the guys there wash it. I am still recovering from the cleaning I gave them on Sunday. Thanks again for the great advice, I am so used to my old wash-and-wear aluminum rims.
  17. I would appreciate some help understanding how to clean the chrome clad wheels. I got it washed Saturday nite and the wheels did not clean up well inside the spokes. Yesterday I got down on the ground eye to eye with the wheels and tried to wipe the gunk off with a damp towel. Some came off but there are areas where it looks dull and stained for lack of a better word. Has anyone had wheels that have been etched like that? My Edge only has 2800 miles. Is chrome polish ok to use? I have read some posts here about these wheels going bad and I see where there is bubbling in places and the edges are pitted. What a bummer. Thanks in advance.
  18. Like this one? This is at partscheap.com. Thanks for your opinions.
  19. They also have incentives for turning in a Chrysler product right now. When I was shopping for mine, I contacted 7-8 dealers. All but one tried to give me just the Ford rebate, nothing else off of the sticker, telling me that they were doing the best they could, on a 2008! They really think we do not know how this works. I was also told that when you take the rebate, the dealers usually will not finance you through Ford with a good rate because they took a hit with the rebate. So if you can get your own financing at a good rate do it, and then go in there and demand that the dealer get you a better one through one of their banks. That is what I did. I got a freat deal and a great rate on my loan.
  20. Does anyone on the forum have a hood deflector or vent visors on their Edge? I like the deflector on the cheap parts site, looks better than a few I have seen on the road. When I bought my Edge in Feb I had never seen the color and did not see any on the road. Now I see 3-4 or more per day just like mine, so I was thinking about adding these items to change it up a little. Any opinions would be appreciated, and a picture would be awesome.
  21. Ah, wasn't expecting that one. Thanks.
  22. Do they not telescope up high enough for tall people?
  23. 1. Why not? Thank you.
  24. I have a few questions about the wheels on the Edge. 1-Are the two styles of the shiny plastic covers interchangable? I have the ones with the equally space spokes but prefer the other style (of course). 2-There is a tv commercial that shows a bright blue Edge with what looks like actual wheels, not wheels with plastic covers. Is this a sport package or something, I never saw one like it at the dealer. 3-Yesterday I read up on the thread here about the plastic wheel covers being bad news. If I actually decide to make a change, would getting new wheels be a better choice than changing out the covers? I live in an area with road salt and lots of it. Thanks for your help.
