Ford OEM Bumper Prot - POS
igcitng replied to jimmc42's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You are the information king. I guess not having them on saves on the lamp life, gas. Recently I have had two accidents in black cars. One was at night with headlights on and the other on a bright sunny day with daytime running lights. Both drivers said "I didn't see you". So really, unless it is dark or foggy/rainy and you have should have your front and back lights on, does not seem to be any advantage to them. My old truck was using two bulb sets a year. -
Ford OEM Bumper Prot - POS

Good to know, I almost got one. Can you paste the link for the 'good' one in this topic? Regarding your signature, can I add the lack of daytime running lites and it seems that there is no light when you open the hood? -
I have a question for others with these, like flashedge above. How does the edge of the visors look and feel? Not the edge that goes in the channel but the edge that shows. Mine are different than what I expected based on the description.
-
Here are some pics. They look nice, went in pretty well. Took a lot of bending for the front ones. Have to make sure that the edge of the visor on the mirror end of the window is sitting on top of the window weather strip or it won't fit tight. The back ones are easy, there is adhesive on the ends to secure them inside. And I had no problems with the windows closing or the auto close on the driver window.

Shopping For A Used '08 Edge...What Should I Be Looking For?
igcitng replied to Taylor Daly's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
I found gobs in Wisconsin. I believe the rates get higher depending on the model year. Now the 2010s are coming out, so the 2008 is 3 model years old. -
Shopping For A Used '08 Edge...What Should I Be Looking For?
igcitng replied to Taylor Daly's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
I would see what you can find in a NEW 2008 or even 2009. When I shopped in February for mine I found that used ones were not cheap, and new 2008's were plentiful. I got a great rebate and a bunch off of the sticker. I paid less than some used ones sales people tried to stick me with. And the interest rate on the loan will be less on a new one. What part of the country are you in? -
I should make you promise to quit smoking. I actually looked into these because someone on the forum suggested them. I originally wondered if it was even cool to put these on an Edge. I looked online at both, and the stick ones stick out a lot from the car. The Weathertechs look so nice and lowprofile. Look up pics of both and you will see what I mean. And the Weathertech site has a great instructional video. I originally ordered from them but they were out of stock for weeks. Got mine in a week from autoanything.com. Hoping it will stop raining so I can get it washed and try to install tomorrow nite.

I found some small bubbles on mine. Guessing they all have them somewhere at some point. In the future I will go back to aluminum wheels. I am not looking forward to what this coming winter and the salt will do to them.
-
Yes, thank you. I bought a new 2008 this February, and I am pretty sure it sat around awhile, so guessing ice and sun wore them out before I even bought it. I noticed that the housing for the rear wiper looks ratty, like it would on an older car. I had some RainEx ones on my Blazer, they were pretty good. I am awhile away from going in for an oil change to have the dealer put some on, they are driving me crazy.
-
Is 20" the correct size for the Edge? Are both wipers 20's? Also, is there a wiper that seems to work best or do they all seem to fit the same? The ones that came on it have never worked from day one. Thanks.
-
I will if I get them in.
-
The video stressed leaving the windows up. Mine just landed yesterday, hope to put them on Friday. And I will definitely leave the windows up.

As long as you are happy and it works in your favor that is great. We'll miss you here.

Do you owe more than it is worth? If you make them fix it you could at least get a trade. You did say your insurance is paying the bill at this point, did that change? I just think you are getting screwed. Teh insurance is going to make a bunch of money off of the parts from your Edge and the progressive guy is getting a bonus for saving money on you.
-
Regardless of the other guys limits, you can use your own insurance to pay and sue them for up to your own coverage. It would be a cold day in hell before I took a loss like that on an 07 suv and wound up with an 05 VW. No way. I think his insurance company is messing with him too.
-
Wow, did not expect that. If you are filing thru your insurance and they are suing their insurance, demand that they fix it-especially if you paid for gap insurance! That is what I did. I had 4k damage on a truck worth about 2k. I refused to be forced to take on a new car payment because they wanted to total it. So I was able to get another 7 months out of it. Not my fault, not my problem. His limits do not matter when it comes time to sue. My insurance is paying for my accident right now and I am getting what I want, that kid's insurance co will be bummed. To total an Edge and buy a used VW seems unfair. Used 2007's in good shape go for much more than that. I looked at used when I bought and they were going for 18-20k +. What was broken so bad that it was totaled? Frame?

I am waiting for delivery of a set of these right now. They had better not be a pain. The Weathertech site has a good installation video to watch.

How about a sticky lint roller to get it off? Then if you wipe it down you are not wiping the big stuff around.
-
What about in the lines? Do you live in high humdity?
-
Armor all might make it worse, dust really sticks to that stuff.
-
Armor All will break down the plastic, don't use it. Aren't shiny dashes kinda uncool nowadays? I use a swiffer and a damp cloth if there is anything to clean. Amor all is very oily, so if you want to get it off I would use some diluted dish soap, it will cut the grease and wipe it down and then wipe with a wet towel to get all of the soap off. Tell the carwash guys to save the armor all for the tires.

Mine does the same thing sometimes. Sync takes the usb command, the song titles and time runs on the stereo screen but no sound. I have an iphone and I have my music in it. I have to restart my iphone and it works fine. Seems to happen mostly if I do not shuffle the music before plugging it in.
