  1. As long as the tool fits the holes, you should be able to turn it either way. Like it was mentioned, there shouldn't be a left or a right hand tool. I have even turned those adjusters in by using a brass bar or a pin punch inserted into only one hole and hitting it with a hammer to turn it. You just have to make sure you are turning it the correct way. You have to loosen a brake cable equalization nut to remove the cable from the caliper. Still having trouble posting the pictures from the service manual (it says I'm not allowed to post that type of file-trying to use JPEG). Here's the copy of the procedure. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .Relieve the tension in the parking brake cable by loosening the parking brake cable equalizer adjustment nut. Release the parking brake cable from the brake caliper and remove the parking brake cable. NOTE: New copper washers are required when installing the brake caliper flow bolt. Remove the brake caliper flow bolt and discard the copper washers. To install, tighten to 25Nm (18 lb-ft). Remove and discard the brake pads. For additional information, refer to Brake Pads in this section. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Bleed the brake caliper. For additional information, refer to Component Bleeding in Section 206-00 . Adjust the parking brake cable. For additional information, refer to Section 206-05 .
  2. I hope this actually happens once and for all. I remember hearing rumors for the last several years about the apps becoming available for the system in the Edge. Hopefully they will be included now. Since its launch in 2010, Ford has migrated SYNC AppLink to more products and customers around the world, enabling vehicle owners to access and control smartphone apps including TuneIn, NPR and iHeartRadio via voice command. More than 1-million vehicles equipped with SYNC AppLink are on the road today, and another 3.4 million vehicles – model year 2010 and newer – will be eligible to download AppLink later this year.
  3. Doing a Google search, I found several links which say the SE could not be ordered with the factory towing package. Page 17 of this 2011 Ford Edge brochure shows the options available on the SE and the tow package is not listed as available until the SEL package. http://www.ford.com/services/assets/Brochure?make=Ford&model=Edge&year=2011&postalCode=30606 Here is a comment/question from a towing forum with an owner of a 2011 SE asking about the lack of the factory towing option. http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=780535 Looks like you will have to add the package to your SE if you stay with that model. Here is the Ford towing brochure for the 2011 models and what it included. http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/11FLMRVTT_EdgeNov18.pdf Good luck and hope you are able to do what you want to do.
  4. Here are several pages of adding a USB to the Ford F150. I know it's not Edge specific, but the pictures and cable used should give you a good idea of what to do. Basically I think you would just disconnect the cable from the back of the radio and replace it. These F150 owner's are relocating their USB connector, and even adding a second one. http://www.f150forum.com/f38/added-my-usb2-today-54416/
  5. Thank you to WWWPerfA_ZN0W for posting those pictures showing the location of the blower motor control unit. I'm still trying to figure out this new Windows 8 computer and how to do things. Akirby was correct when he mentioned the EATC as maybe being at fault. This part is described in several different ways, including the listing on Rock Auto as a blower motor control module/resistors. On the pictures posted by WWWperfA_ZNOW, it is called an EATC on the automatic climate control system and an EMTC on the manual climate control system. Might be why there are two different MC part numbers and prices on the Rock Auto listings for the part. rgigowski, I am over in the Forney area, about 10 miles east of Mesquite. I don't get over to your side of town very often at all. Ever since I sold my 1971 Oldsmobile 442 convertible years ago for extra money towards a down payment on a house, I just haven't been into car shows too much. Maybe some day when it's warmer I can check it out.
  6. It's too bad you have to put up with this kind of stuff. I am sure just about every owner has a tale or two regarding poor service, sales, or finance experiences. There are good dealers out there, it's just a matter of finding them. The tech there brought me into the shop to see that all four tires were completely bald on the inside edge. Not only does that mean I needed an alignment but also that the tires had been rotated in that worn condition without the dealer ever advising me that they were wearing unevenly. When I have had a dealer do The Works (oil change, filter, tire rotation) it also included the multi-point inspections. I was always given a seperate sheet with brake pad condition, battery condition, tire condition and thread depth, etc. Sounds like your dealer was taking a short cut and not providing you with a compete multi-point inspection. Hope you get something resolved with them or can find a more competent dealer.
  7. Many blower motors have a module or resistors which allow the blower to operate at different speeds. I think it is different than the ETAC mentioned by Akirby. I have replaced these modules in various other models when the blower hasn't worked, or hasn't worked on all speed settings. Below is what I found in my service manual for my 2013 Edge. I would think your 2008 would have the same, or a similar, component. Rockauto is showing several blower motor control modules/resistors including Motorcraft brands. Prices range from $40.89 to $97.79. Not sure what the difference between them is, but there are 2 Motorcraft ones with different part numbers and different prices. Might be something to check. Sorry the pictures didn't attach. I am using a new computer and haven't figured everything out yet. It looked like the speed control is on the left hand side once you remove the glove box. Blower Motor Speed Control Removal and Installation Remove the 2 glove compartment retainer pins. Remove the glove compartment. Detach the glove compartment damper from the glove compartment. Release the stops by pressing them toward the center of the glove compartment while lowering the glove compartment, and remove the glove compartment. Remove the blower motor speed control. Disconnect the blower motor speed control electrical connector. Remove the 2 blower motor speed control screws. Remove the blower motor speed control. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  8. Here is a link to a topic about various filters other owners have used. I replied in post #22 about the inexpensive charcoal impregnated filters I purchased from Rock Auto. Others have used them also with good results, no complaints. Various prices and part numbers are also listed for other brands and types, including the Motorcraft ones. Post #24 has someone replacing the factory wire mesh screen with a paper filter. Perhaps you have just the wire mesh screen now which can be replaced. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10279-charcoal-air-cabin-filter/?hl=%20cabin%20%20air%20%20filter
  9. I looked on the Ford website to see standard equipment on the various Edge models. Only the SEL and Limited have the particulate cabin filter included. The SE did not. I didn't look at the Sport model. This was for the 2014 models. I would guess you do not have one but the only way to find out for sure is to look at the window sticker or behind the glove box. Not that hard at all to lower the glove box to look.
  10. I found this excellent Google result regarding the washer pump on the Ford Edge. The one electrical diagram is for a 2008, but it should be the same for your 2007. Just read through the answers at the following link I posted. Make sure your washer fluid isn't frozen. Fuses mentioned were #45 and #58, but it is believed the wipers themselves wouldn't work also if those were bad. There is a relay in the system which is for the washer. http://www.justanswer.com/ford/4ekiy-2008-ford-edge-windshield-washer-does-not-work.html
  11. If you have factory navigation, you do need an SD card for the maps. Depending on what version of the Sync you are running, you will need either the A3 or the A4 card. The latest update included an A4 card since the old A3 card would not work properly with the new version update. If the dealer wants to update the system to the latest version, make sure they include the A4 card.
  12. You first posted about this problem back in August of 2012! You have now just ordered the part which others have suggested was the problem. Perhaps the amp is bad and the wiggling of the connector just allows the amp to work properly. I would install the ordered amp and see if that corrects the problem as others have mentioned.
  13. There is a delay setting on my Edge which will alow the camera to stay on until I reach a certain speed going forward. I think it is about 5 mph or so. The setting to turn it off or on is in the menu. Sounds like yours is turned on.
  14. Sounds like the struts that hold the gate up are weak. The cold weather will not allow the fluid inside them to flow enough to work properly. You need to replace the struts.
  15. Been out of town since the 19th, will be home by the 30th. Yes, I still have one set of lights remaining which I will sell for the same price, shipping included to the lower 48 states.
  16. I guess I clicked on the view new topic post without really reading or comprehending the title! I looked everywhere in her post and signature to see what year model it was. I'll be more attentive from now on hopefully.
  17. Pamela, your mechanic sounds like he is confusing a few different problems with the wrong vehicles. Yes, Ford did (does) have a problem with spark plugs breaking, but that is on only certain engines in the F150 line-up, nothing in the Edge models. The PTU does indeed have a history of developing a leak with the seal. Ford has had this problem with the unit used in the Edge for a long time now. I believe there are even some newer models (2011,2012) that have the same leak problems as the earlier 2007 or 2008 models. Maybe not as common, but still happens once in awhile. I don't know if you are having a leak fixed, or an internal problem with yours. Just what do you mean when you say yours had a failure and it is costing $1350.00? You haven't mentioned what year your Edge is, or what engine. This is VERY important to put in your signature or in your posts, as different years may have different problems and fixes. One example is your mechanic mentioning something about spark plugs and or coils. Did you know that earlier Edge's have a problem with the coils and the PCM burning out? This is a very expensive fix since all six coils and the PCM have to be replaced. Ford does have a TSB which is providing a free repair to fix this problem, but only on those years which are affected. Your mechanic may have again confused some information about the coils/PCM and not been able to tell you specific information for your Edge. Just recently one member had an independent shop do some repairs which would have been covered by Ford under the TSB. He is trying to get reimbursed for some of his cost, but so far no success. His story and the TSB information at this link. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13537-coilpcm-issues-and-reimbursement-for-tsb-13-04-17/ You might want to check with a Ford dealer or two to see if you are covered.
  18. I was going to do the mod on my 2013 Edge when I first found the write up on the Explorer forum. Other things came up and it was put on the back burner for the time being. Let us know if you do the mod and if you find anything different between the Explorer and the Edge module. I haven't had any luck trying to find a part number for each vehicle to see if they are the same.
  19. In order to fit a 2010 or older, the center of your 2011 wheels would have to be machined out. The 2010 and previous models use a larger hub opening than the 2011 and newer.
  20. I follow several other Ford model forums, and this has been mentioned over there also. However, it only seems to be affecting the 2013 models. I have the same problem with my 2013 Edge and the turn signal stalk. Perhaps it is a 2013 problem only due to a different supplier, etc. It sometimes feels like I am going to break something it is so hard to use. I have pretty much quit flashing the lights when using it by being a little more conscious when using it. Here is a link to the Ford Explorer forum where someone has posted a fix for this problem. It involves doing some modifications to the turn signal module, but seems pretty straight forward. If in fact a new module is only $50.00 or so from the dealer, that may also be an option if you don't want to try the mod. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388119
  21. Very nice ad with good discriptions and pictures. I hope you are able to find someone to take over the lease. The only question is about the warranty which you said would be fully in effect until the lease end. Unless you have purchased extra coverage, the factory bumper to bumper is only 36 months or 36000 miles, which ever comes first. I know it is only 3 extra months or 3000 extra miles which would not be covered, but you may want to correct that.
  22. Well, I've posted this before but it may not be easy to find. It's not quite the factory manual, but it is free. It has specific torque values for various repairs, and a pretty good guide for most common repairs. Right now it only covers up to the 2011 Edge. You may be able to find it useful for other cars you work on which may also be covered. This is an online public version provided by a library of the Chilton repair manuals. Click the following link http://hmcpl.org/databases/auto-repair-reference-center then click the http link at the bottom of the page that opens. Click Proceed on the next page. You can then enter your year, make, and model to see the manuals.
  23. Did the engine crank slowly when you started it after seeing the warning and after your appointment? How often and how much do you drive the Edge? Short trips? Frequent starts and stops? Only several times a week? Has the weather been cold in your area? These are all reasons your battery may run down without fully recharging. If the dealer checked it and had to recharge it, you should be OK if they tested some of the other mechanical aspects (alternator, battery cells, etc). I haven't seen or read too many complaints like yours regarding the Edge. You can find anything you want on the web doing a search to make you worry unnecessarily. Give your dealer a chance to make sure there is nothing wrong, or if there is, that they fix it. Good luck and let us know.
