Just finished the install of 3.6 and went back to the Sync My Ride page to report the succesful install. All it is showing is that I downloaded the 3.6 but it will not allow anywhere to report the install. Yesterday while downloading there was a place to click to report the install, but today now that I have installed it, I can't report it. The last date for a reported install is June of 2012, so it is not reported as installed, just downloaded. I like the artist and song title showing up on the home screen for the Sirius and USB sources. I tried several of the HD channels but they do not show the same info. It just shows Entertainment where the song and artist show up for the other sources. I know the HD channels are broadcasting the info because if I expand the Entertainment quadrant to full screen, it shows all the info. Same for the FM info not showing up in the home screen, just the expanded Entertainment window.

Sent you an email. If you have PayPal, I can invoice you through them and get the lights shipped out as soon as I receive payment. Let me know. Thanks, Steve

Keyless Entry Keypad-Ford Edge SE-2013
ls973800 replied to sajid.ali's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I think I replied about the installation of the key pad on another post you asked a similar question in? If not, I posted a link to the F150 forum where there was a big discussion about how to add the key pad, including what had to be changed in the SJB/BCM. Read the F150 post and see if that helps you. The first couple of replies on that post were corrected because of an error for how to rewrite the code. Perhaps this will help you on the Edge install. http://www.f150forum.com/f38/factory-keypad-installed-working-167724/ -
Thanks autom8r for posting the service manual excerpt for the belt removal and installation. I for one would not cut the belts and then try to figure out how they go on. Kind of like on another forum I belong to people drain a differential fluid before finding out that the fill plug is "frozen" in place and won't come out. I would want to make sure I know how to remove and install the new belts before cutting them off. I am sure after doing it once I would feel more comfortable cutting them off in the future, but for the first time I would follow the service manual.

I was just reading about keypads being added to F150's on one of those forums the other day. I don't know if some of the codes they mention to use will work on the Edge or not. I'm not sure what your "wireless" keypad is that you purchased. This link is for the factory type keypads. Maybe it will help you. http://www.f150forum.com/f38/factory-keypad-installed-working-167724/

Retractable security cover for Edge
ls973800 replied to Turner12971's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I had the dealer include one when I purchased my 2013 Edge. It is the Ford OEM accessory one and attaches like you mentioned. Two loops go over the rear headrests, and then two clips get pushed into the side panels by the windows. Cheapest looking item I've seen considering it is a Ford item, and a Mickey Mouse way of attaching it. My wife's MDX has a cover which acts like a shade, probable like what you are asking about. It actually pulls in and out like you would a shade. It rests in two "ledges' built into the side of the rear panels behind the rear seat. When pulled out, it fastens into two additional "ledges" near the tailgate area. It is what I thought the Ford one was going to be like. I haven't seen any other covers for the Edge, factory or aftermarket which work like a shade or fasten like a well thought out product should. -
Need opinions on Michelin replacements for my 2008 Edge
ls973800 replied to hipo giddyup's topic in Wheels & Tires
Try checking Tirerack.com and seeing what their test results show. They have some great reviews by owner's, including an option where you can check reviews for your specific vehicle. Granted there may be limited results for a 2008 Edge SEL AWD, but other reviews for other vehicles should give you a very good idea about the tire. This link shows the Michelin tires available which have owner reviews. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/reviews/brands.jsp?tireMake=Michelin -
I tried finding some type of statistics as to how many repair visits a car has during a 7 year, 100000 mile ownership. I haven't been able to find anything yet. I really am curious how many the average car has.

Well, you just made a perfect case for not buying the warranty. Over the course of at least 10 different cars and trucks with extended warranties, I have never "lost" money on 1. My 2003 F150 had the least problems but even with such a good repair record, that truck was at the dealer at least 5 times over the course of it's extended warranty period. Once for each bucket seat seat belt tensioner that had to be replaced at different times (had to play with the seat belt to get the slack out of it when you unbuckled), a heater blower motor, a windshield wiper motor, and the "smart" lever or whatever you want to call it for the turn signal, high beams, wipers, etc. If I had to pay $100.00 for each of the seat belt repairs (made about 1 1/2 years apart) I would have just put up with the slack or the occasional locking of the belt when moving. If I had purchased the warranty with a deductible, that would have been $500.00 out of my pocket. You really think a car sees a repair facility over the course of 100000 miles or 7 years less than 4 times? I would buy that type of vehicle in a second!

When I purchased my 84 month, 100000 mile Ford Premium Care ESP, the difference between the $0 deductible and the $100.00 deductible was only about $400.00 or so at the time. I know from past experience (which is why I purchased the warranty to begin with) that the car is going to be in the shop more than 4 or 5 times over the course of the warranty period. If I have to pay $100.00 each time, that less expensive warranty really turns out to be more expensive than the $0 deductible. I also know that if I have a repair which will cost less than $100.00, I will still take it in and get it repaired because it won't cost me anything. If I have to pay up to the $100.00 deductible for the repair, I may just let the repair not get fixed, depending on what it is. Now I have a car with a few small repairs which aren't done, or which will nickle and dime me along with any $100.00 deductible for bigger repairs. Each individual owner is different, and each has to make the decision as to what works best for them. To say $0 deductibles are money wasters is one opinion. In mine, they are money savers over the long run. I will always buy $0 deductibles, until I think they no longer are worth it. Doing so will insure all repairs are done to my car, and will not cost anything additional out of pocket. From the $20.00 repairs up to the largest repair bill.

Make sure you have the correct sensors. I think the 2010 and earlier models used a sensor which was attached to the wheel with a band. The 2011 and newer use a sensor which is attached by the valve stem and a nut. No more bands to go around the wheel. The 2011 and up also use a different frequency to transmit the signal if I'm not mistaken. The sensors in my 2013 are black, I don't know about 2010 or older. Also make sure the wheels you bought aren't from a 2011 or newer. They will not fit your 2010 hub opening unless you have the wheel openings machined larger.

IS973800...the heater hoses are not terrifically accessible on the Edge, but could be done. I had a Prestone flush fitting on a previous car and was always concerned about an inexpensive $5 plastic fitting being the weak link in the system. I have had them in several cars and trucks, including one which I drove over 160000 miles and 10 years in all kinds of heat and cold. Never had any leak or break. I did have one cap leak one time, but that was because I failed to put it back on with the washer. Replaced the washer and no other problems. I'll have to take a look under the hood and see how the Edge is set up. The "T" install is something I will do if there is room.

I went with the 84 month, 100000 mile $0.00 deductible Ford ESP Premium Care. I also have the first day rental and enhanced rental options included. I paid $1795.00 for the plan when I first bought the car new last July. My dealer didn't offer the Ford ESP, only their own aftermarket ones. I checked here and other forums and at the time, Anderson and Koch were the best deal. Bought it online and didn't have any taxes on it since it was an out of state purchase.

I've always installed one of the Prestone back flush kits on my previous cars which are around $5.00 or so. It is a plastic "T" which gets spliced into one of the heater hoses. Here's a link with directions on how to do it. http://www.prestone.com/products/print/461?popup=1 I then add what ever amount of coolant to the system which would give a 50/50 mix, and add the water last. I haven't looked closely at the Edge yet to see where the "T" will go and hope they still have rubber hoses and not metal ones.

Remote start will not start car
ls973800 replied to mgl79's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I believe there is a setting in the menu that you enable/disable the remote start from working. You can find the setting under the ""Settings" menu on the left side of the dash using the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel. Page 118 of my owner's manual shows the different settings, including enable or disable remote starting. I bet yours is set to disable. -
Collinite 845 lack of lustre
ls973800 replied to normcloutier's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
Before I decided to order Collinite 845, I read many posts on some of the detailing forums. Here is a link to an excellent article of how to properly use this wax. I think you will be surprised by how little you really should use, as shown in some of the pictures with the product on the pad and the car. I haven't done mine yet because of the heat and humidity here in Dallas right now. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/40243-collinite-845-definitive-how-guide-legendary-wax.html -
Ain't that a step backwards!
ls973800 replied to ls973800's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Yes, the 2013 Edge still has the Gracenote database. I have tried turning that on and off to see if it would read the CD and show the information, but nothing changed with either setting. One big difference is the 2013 does not have the HDD to record or store the CD's onto. My wife's car has HDD and all CD's which have been stored on there have all the information which is viewed when playing from the HDD. I am going to burn the CD using my computer media player onto a blank CD disc and see if the info transfers that way. If not, it's really not a big deal. I'll be putting all the CD's onto a flash drive to use anyhow instead of having to store CD's in the car. Like I mentioned, the 2013 only has a single disc player and no HDD. -

I need tire advice from someone with more knowledge than myself
ls973800 replied to Jackman5000's topic in Wheels & Tires
Use this tire size calculator to see what other sizes will come close to the OEM for speedometer readings, RPM's, circumference, etc. One rule of thumb is to stay within 3% of original specs on the speedometer. The Edge can go from an 18" wheel/tire to a 20" wheel/tire with no problem because of the different aspect ratios on the tires used. No need to recalibrate anything if the right size tire is used. With you staying in the 18" size, there are several sizes I am sure you could install with no problem. If you use the calculator I've linked to, make sure you enter the security code even though it is crossed out on the link. http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator -
What's funny is that there is a HUGE aftermarket of products for people to polish their headlights if they look anything like what you have done to yours! I'm not criticizing what you did, just that that is completely different than what most people want with their headlights. A clean, crystal clear lense for maximum light output. Most states prohibit the adding of tint or colored lenses over the headlights and or taillights, or obscuring the light output. I know for a fact that Ohio does, just ask my son who had put smoked lenses on his car years ago. Wasn't more than a week before the Ohio State Patrol pulled him over and made him remove them right then and there. My warning to him meant nothing, but the guy wearing a uniform and badge got his attention.

So call me old fashioned if you want. I actually put a CD into the player of my 2013 today for the first time since buying it last July. Now I have used the USB for CD's I've ripped onto the flash drive and like seeing the artist, song title, album title, and even sometimes if I am lucky the album art cover. I purchased a few CD's and didn't have time to rip them onto my USB yet. I decided to listen to one of them in the car while taking my wife to an appointment. I was some what surprised to see the only information on the home screen and even the entertainment screen when I selected that was a generic "Track 1", "Track 2", etc of whatever track was playing. No artist, song title, album title, or album art to be found. Is there a setting I need to change, or is this as good as it gets when playing a CD? This is not a bootleg CD, but one issued by a major studio. I am sure when I copy it to my music USB, that information will be shown on the Edge just like all my other albums show from the USB. Is this just how the CD works now?

Need feedback - Looking to purchase a Ford Edge
ls973800 replied to Rivas's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
If you consider the Equinox at all, make sure it IS NOT the 4 cylinder model. That engine has a terrible track record and many owner's have received buy backs or new engines. The 6 cylinder is OK. I read the Equinox and Terrain forum board and have followed many of the owner's trying to get help with their 4 cylinder engine problems. -
I have one set of the lights remaining. Total of $46.00 which includes shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states.
