How To: Replace Door Latch Module for Door Ajar Warning
ls973800 replied to 12Edge's topic in Exterior & Body
12Edge, very nice write up and great pictures. I know there are many people who have this problem and hopefully some of them will now be able to do it themselves instead of paying dealer prices for the fix. I am saving a copy of this for the future if I ever need it. I have the factory extended warranty so it shouldn't be a problem for me, but who knows how long I will keep the Edge (7 year extended warranty). -
Not starting, Fuel pump intermittently starting
ls973800 replied to cb8892's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
Any rust on top of the tank like other owners of earlier Edges and MKX's have reported? They were saying something over $1000.00 to replace the tank.- 9 replies

No, not a moron. There are so many cars that overlap each other size wise, feature wise, etc that you need a score card just to keep them straight! My wife had a Traverse for a few years so I was aware of that car and it's siblings, belonging to several other forums for them. What's really funny is that the transmission in the GM Traverse, etc and the Ford Edge (maybe some other models also) were a joint effort. GM has a problem of the transmission gernading itself on the earlier build years (2007-2009) because of an improper heated treated component (wave plate) that I have never heard going bad in the Fords. Yes, some Fords have the banging shift and harsh shift, but nothing leaving the vehicle dead in the water like the GM's.
-
The GMC's sister car is the Chevrolet Equinox. It does not have a third row seat, neither does the Terrain. The Traverse is a large vehicle with a large third row, seating for 7 or 8 depending on how you option it out. The Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and the Saturn Outlook are the Traverse's sister cars. The Ford equivalent would be the Flex or Explorer, with the Flex being larger than the Explorer.

I had it included in the purchase of my Edge. Installed it one time, and took it out! Cheap material, you have to remove it if you want to fold the seats down, it uses plastic clips to hook into the plastic side panels by the windows. I was very disappointed in it (especially after having used the "shade" type that our other car had.) The Ford one is sitting in the garage in the box it came in, I'll sell it cheap, because that's what it is. Just my opinion

How many total miles since the last change? How long ago was the last change. How many miles a week do you drive? I guess my question is how many miles did you drive to get it down to 19%? If your OLM tends to go down about 10% for every 1000 miles, that means you have about 1900 miles left before zero. If you go down 10% about every 500 miles, you have about 900 miles left. The question is almost impossible to answer without knowing your driving habits. You really don't have to change oil until you get to the 5%-0% range.

My factory Perelli's (20 inch) have 28000 miles and they are getting a bit loud. Still ride and handle great so it's not that big of a deal for me yet. No unusual wear or tear on them with a lot of tread left. I rotate them every 5000 miles, front to back, back to front and crossed. Cupping usual is suspension problem, or out of balance. I had one set of tires cup when I had neglected to rotate them for about 30000 miles when I first started driving. It was because of a bad alignment and the tires never got a chance to wear evenly if they had been rotated. How to read your tire wear and what it might mean. http://www.procarcare.com/includes/content/resourcecenter/encyclopedia/ch25/25readtirewear.html

I have seen the glove box light and switch for the MKX, should be able to install that also on the Edge. Won't be the ambient color if you have that feature, but simple enough to install one. https://www.google.com/search?q=lincoln+mkx+glove+box+light&client=firefox-a&hs=gh9&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=vzIeU8uZI4KE2wX1i4HwDQ&ved=0CD4QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=551#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=QA3ygmJJ98EmBM%253A%3BkwtS_5GEfhUvZM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fthumbs1.ebaystatic.com%252Fm%252Fm2Fjk_7hj7fegeeIsRSm37Q%252F140.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fstores.ebay.com%252FTasca-OEM-Parts%252FGlove-box-%252F_i.html%253F_fsub%253D3263808016%3B140%3B121

You can try this search link to check salvage yards nationally, or just those close to you. I found several front bumpers, covers, etc but they didn't specify Sport models. You could contact one or two of them and they can do a more in depth search for you. Prices may be more in line with what you are looking for. http://car-part.com/ LKQ is another large national salvage yard operation who may be able to locate what you need at a reasonable price. http://www.lkqcorp.com/us/en/search-inventory.aspx

I believe this is his Craigslist copy. Looks almost identical to his ad here but includes a price http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/4353277551.html

WOW! I had posted a reply to your original message you posted last night. You posted at 9:41PM and I had a reply with links showing where to find this part, including a Ford dealer sponsor on this forum who sells parts at employee prices at 9:51PM. Don't know how much quicker of a reply you could want. If you go to the Main Topic Body Panels, Trim, etc and click on that, any posts started or replied to in that category will be listed. Your two posts are at the top right now, including the one I replied to last night. This forum is a little bit unusual in that only the latest post is shown on the main board. That means if you post something, it will show on the main board. If someone else posts a new post in the same category, theirs is now shown on the main board, and yours is moved to the category (Body Panels, Trim, etc) in this case. Learn how to use the forum and it's category's by not only checking the main board, but by clicking the sub category's for other posts.

Just a quick side note. I said in one of my previous posts here that I don't want my selling dealer touching my car unless absolutely necessary. They don't sell the Ford ESP plan, they don't use Motorcraft synthetic blend oil for the Works Package, etc. Just got a service flyer from them making their oil change look like the Works, for only $29.95. It includes top off fluids, multi-point safety inspection (just like the Works) BUT includes up to 5 quarts of CONVENTIONAL oil and NO tire rotation. I just read that a Ford dealership here in the metroplex just opened the 400th Ford Quick Lane service facility. Wonder if my selling dealership is ever going to sign on with Ford for any services, or continue to be basically independent and try to make more money with lesser services for the owners of Ford vehicles. I have used a different dealer providing genuine Ford Works Packages and prices using the correct oil when I haven't been able to change the oil myself.

Just found this site while on a different forum I follow. I am sure there are similar dealers, including the sponsor on this forum who can help you out. http://parts.autonationfordwhitebearlake.com/parts/2010/FORD/Edge/Sport?siteid=214771&vehicleid=209399&diagram=MS07008 Link to the forum sponsor selling parts at employee prices http://www.fordedgeforum.com/forum/56-levittown-ford-super-center/

I found and posted this link for another owner who had asked about the pin stripes that have the FORD logo in it. http://www.pinstripekits.com/luxury-car-logo-pinstripe-kits/

Todd,I appreciate the offer of assistance. If I decide to have this looked at I will contact you. Thanks again, Steve (LS973800)

the original post stated The dealer price was $2340 I believe, it was the same price as the Ford Owner website. Don't know where you came up with cost being told. She was comparing her price to the price quoted by the other source and for that reason stated it wasn't a true Ford ESP from what I read. If she quoted a price more in line such as $1600.00, then she would have a hard time saying it wasn't a true Ford ESP.

Good luck

The individual dealerships can set their own price for the warranty, so if she said that was the dealer's price, that is what is was. I also did some checking on the Ford Owner's Site, and a price does come up as $2440.00! That's not even with enhanced rental or a $0 deductible from what I can figure out. Now what it costs the dealership or Ford is a completly different matter.. No way is it anywhere near $2340.00 Dealer PRICE versus Dealer COST are two different things.

She did her job! She put doubt in your mind about a genuine Ford product which is sold by numerous other online dealers also at a lower price than what she is trying to sell hers for. I purchased my ESP on line, received a copy of it in an email, and also received the hard copy of it. I haven't had to use it yet, but I am sure it is also in the Ford system whenever I do have to take it in for service. I went with one of the big four that you usually hear about (Anderson and Koch). Since they were out of state I didn't even have to pay sales tax on it! I would not have hesitated to have gone with Flood Ford or others online. There are numerous posts on this forum or any of the other Ford forums about online ESP policies. You will usually see three or four names as being the lowest price. They even have phone numbers to call them if you feel that unsure about the policies.

Apple Car Play-Maybe This Will Work With MFT
ls973800 replied to ls973800's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Of course I just got a Galaxy S4 -
Apple coming out with a new way to connect the I-Phone to be able to use the display on your car for maps, audio, text messages, etc. Apple says it is an iOS update which will allow features of the phone to appear on the car screen. It looks though, that the car has to be equipped with CarPlay for the phone to work from what I read. Ford is one of the brands that will use this according to the article. http://ca.autoblog.com/2014/03/03/apple-carplay-in-car-iphone-interface-official/#continued

Any abnormal or unusual tire wear anywhere yet? Are the tires all the same PSI (35 per the manual)? You could try switching the tires from side to side (left front to right front, right front to left front) and see if the problem persists, disappears, or now pulls to the left. Haven't heard too many complaints new Edge's pulling one way or the other. Make sure the rear alignment is also checked when the suspension guy is back at the dealership.

The factory 20 inch optional tires for your 2010 MKX were 245 X 50 X 20. You can stay with something that size, or use this calculator to try other sizes. http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator

I received an email from Lincoln today about the new MKC crossover they are coming out with this summer. It is a sharp looking vehicle which I really like. I think it is about the size of the Ford Escape, smaller than the Edge. Just making a post about it because I hope it does well in the market. I can't get the email to copy here with all of the info including prices, but here is a link to some pictures of it. https://www.google.com/search?q=lincoln+mkc&client=firefox-a&hs=moc&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=JFwRU9vzCsLu2gXl4IDYCw&ved=0CDAQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=551

Owner's here are always looking for the 22 inch wheels. I would think you shouldn't have too much trouble selling/trading these. Good luck
