  1. Very nice achievement! Congratulations and keep up the good work.
  2. I received a letter from ford a few months ago about the MFT and SYNC stating they are now covered for the life of the vehicle, I got the same letter for my SHO as well. I haven't heard about that coverage yet. I had received a letter regarding my 2013 Edge which extended the warranty on the APIF ( module for the SYNC/MFT ?) to 5 years. No mention about Sync and MFT being covered for life.
  3. One of the users/vendors on here was selling daytime running lights which used the LED strips which come on some of the newer models. He had an option for models like yours which came with the black plastic insert instead of the LED strip. His included a wire harness and everything you needed to have them work. Search for DTBL (Daytime Bright Lights) and you should be able to find his info and a link to his web page advertising the lights. If he can't help you, I have a set of new LED strip lights posted in the classified section.
  4. Haz, thanks for the info! I finally got it to work thanks to the info you posted. Actually, the info you posted set me on the correct path but there was still some head banging along the way. I kept right clicking within the text box but got a completely different menu than you were saying I should get. After about ten minutes of getting nowhere, I thought what if I type something into the text box instead of leaving it blank, and then right click. So I typed in a word, and right clicked. I was able to get the menu you posted only if I put my cursor over the word I typed. Once I did that, I checked the spelling check box, and made sure the language was correct. Actually the spell check was checked when I first opened it, so I unchecked it, closed it, and re-checked it again. I went to the language, unchecked the English, re-checked it, and everything is working fine! Thanks for your help. I didn't really realize Firefox had upgraded my system to a newer version. Now if I could only get the Gracenote function to work in the Edge. I'll save that for another post in the future.
  5. I've sent an email to the admin and they replied there is no profile setting to turn spell check on or off. Other forums I participate in have no problem with spell check. Just this one in the last couple of week it seems to have vanished for me.
  6. OK, thanks. It must be something on my end but I have no clue what. If it was just the one browser (Firefox) I could undertstand it. But if I use IE it also doesn't work.
  7. I didn't know where else to post this other than on a topic that hasn't had any replies since Feb 25. My spell check function has stopped working on this forum using either Firefox or IE. It works on the other forums I belong to, including some Ford F150 and the Explorer site. I haven't done any upgrades to either browser, and noticed this in the last week or two. There is no function button in the settings to turn it on or off. There isn't even a button anywhere for the spell check feature. I have sent a message to the forum mods, but they said nothing has changed as far as they know. Anyone else finding the spell check not working? You can try to reply and add an extra letter or two to a word and it should underline as being mis-spelled.
  8. Actually I believe it is the dealers who order the vehicles that prefer the more expensive option. When I was looking for my 2013 Edge Limited, several dealers and myself tried finding one without the $895.00 20" wheel option. I bet out of over 300 Edges in the Dallas/Ft Worth area at the time that were in inventory, less than 10 of them had the standard 18" wheels. Someone replied to a post I had mentioned that fact in that in their area, the 18" wheels were easily found in dealer stock. It might depend on the area, I really don't know. I can only mention what I have found.
  9. She really wanted to upgrade to the SEL but didn't due to her budget. That says alot about where she places priorities at this point in her life! Too often not only young adults, but also those who should know better, become victims of over extending their credit or out spending their means. It is refreshing to hear of someone who realizes that you really can't have everything you want in life all the time. Good for her for not falling into what could have become a financial pitfall at this point. I don't know how many times I've heard the phrase "you deserve it" from a salesperson when shopping for a major purchase. They have no clue what I may deserve or don't deserve! I also like when they say something about it will only cost X amount more per day. I always reply well, that is pretty inexpensive so why don't they just make that small X amount per day difference for me. So far, for some reason, I haven't had any takers on that offer. Don't hesitate to ask any questions or even have her join in and find out more about her new car. Welcome to both /of you!
  10. Glad everything worked well for you. It sure is handy to have the buttons on the visor instead of one or two transmitters hanging there.
  11. I have a set of new front light assemblies which I believe will fit the 2011-2012-2013 Edge. These are the strip of LED lights which fit into the front bumper. These have never been used and have never been taken apart. No upgrades have been attempted on these and no wire harness comes with them. The Ford part number on the backs are RH BT43-13B220-A Bag it came in says Part 1761791 BZL ASM U387 FRT RH SWITCH LH BT43-13B221-A Bag it came in says Part 1761355 BZL ASM U387 FRT LH SWITCH I'm asking $80.00 for the pair and that will include shipping to anywhere within the lower 48 states. The pictures show reflections from the flash on the camera.
  12. You actually don't have any services due until the OLM (Oil Life Monitor) is near the 0 percentage range or one year has passed with no oil change. According to the owner's manual, it should show oil change required anywhere between 3000-10000 miles, depending on your vehicle usage. Extreme, Severe, or Normal. These conditions are explained on page 359 of my 2013 Edge Owner's manual. The only mileage based maintenance items are air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs, etc. These items and mileage requirements are found on page 361 There are items which should be checked and inspected every month or six months as explained on page 356. Tire rotation is also recommended at each oil change along with other inspections. Page 360. With all that said I do the multi-point inspection, oil change, and tire rotation every 5000 miles just to be on the safe side. I have 10000 miles on my 2013 and just did the second change Monday. Both times my OLM was at 50% so I could have gone longer. I reset the OLM back to 100% and am done. I did the first change myself at 4995 and this change by the dealer at 10010. I had a free coupon from the dealer for the oil change and let them do it this time. They also performed the multi-point inspection and I got the record of it to put into my paperwork for the Edge. One of the best features for those who do not change the oil themselves IMHO is to let the dealer do "The Works" Fuel Saver Package. This includes synthetic blend oil, oil filter, tire rotation and pressure check, multi-point inspection, fluid top off, battery test, filter check, and hoses and belts check. The normal price for this is $39.95, but Ford or your Ford dealer very often have a $10.00 rebate bringing the cost to $29.95. This is for 5 quarts of oil. Usually the dealer will charge for the 6th quart which is needed in the 3.5 engine. I always find the coupons on the My Ford site where I keep track of my service records and visits. You can also find an online owner's manual there.
  13. What a difference! Time to paint your front brake calipers now that they are so exposed to view.
  14. Detroit Wheel has been running some sales on eBay for OEM 20" wheel and tire packages. A couple of owner's on here have just purchased sets in the last week. Detroit Wheel purchased 500 sets from a supplier (Ford?) of the wheels which were meant to be used but never made it to a production model for what ever reason. They are chrome plated (not chrome clad like the 18" and 20" OEM Limited wheels. The set includes center caps and TPMS sensors with free shipping according to the ads the buyers linked to on the forum. A great way to get new tires and wheels with everything you need for a decent price in my opinion.
  15. Another buyer who posted on a different post here just the other day confirmed with Joe that the wheels are indeed chrome plated! Much better than the chrome clad in my opinion. I really wish I could justify buying a set at these prices for future replacement on my 2013. Wonder where I could hide a set in the garage for the next 4 or 5 years before I need new tires without my wife seeing them!
  16. I looked up the parts for a 2012 Lincoln MKX glove box light. I found a switch/wire assembly part # 8A5Z14413A but could not find the light/bulb itself. I don't believe the light is a part of this switch/assembly I found. This is for after 02/06/2012 Sale price of $15.93 http://www.wholesalefordparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=1130613&ukey_product=8822941 I also found this on eBay which shows a better schmatic of the parts. On the schmatic part number 14413 is the switch/assembly I found in the above link. It looks like a bulb (part 13466 on this eBay schmatic) plugs into the rear of the switch/assembly. I guess you would just have to wire the switch/assmebly into a hot and ground point. I haven't found any wire harness yet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/8A5Z14413A-Ford-Switch-And-Wire-Assy-Control-/250885974749 I'm going to order one and see if I can get it hooked up into my 2013 Edge. I sent the forum sponsor a message to see what his cost is on this part before I order from a non-sponsor.
  17. Here's the only one I found. It is adding LED lights to the center console and the glove box. Should give you a good idea of how to add to the glove box and where to pick up power. It was done on a 2008 but the same basic ideas should work on something newer. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/3166-diy-center-console-glove-box-led-lighting-mod/?hl=%2Binstall+%2Bglove+%2Bbox+%2Blight&do=findComment&comment=24232
  18. Used the 'X' plan; $141 over total dealer invoice. Eligible for $3500 in incentives, if they finance for at least 4 months before we refi at lower rate. That has been discussed on other posts, and it has been proven to be a misconception (actually a lie if I want to be blunt)! I and at least one other member actually contacted Ford Credit and found out that you can refinance the very next day if you wanted to WITH NO PENALTY TO YOU! He financed within a week or two and I was able to get the dealer to match my credit unions 1.9 percent financeing by threatning to refinance their higher rate within a week of purchase. including Costco membership club pricing (excellent, if you want something from dealer stock). I had a dealer who was a member of the Costco pricing plan who told me I had to buy from stock also. I contacted the Costco atuo buying service and they said the price is honored on in stock, dealer trade or locate, or ordering. I did not end up having any other dealings with that dealer or the brand they were selling! Glad to hear you were able to order exactly what you wanted.
  19. You sure that is an 18" Limited wheel? I thought the Limited had a chrome clad 18" wheel as the standard. Yours looks like the SEL standard wheels. 17" Edge wheels would also fit and can be found usually cheaper than the 18" wheels.
  20. Nice find! I just went out and checked my 2013 Limited with the same dash set up as yours. I have MFT and SYNC. Mine was built in June of 2012. I don't have that indicator at all, either with the lights on in the autolight mode or by turning the lights on manually. I've tried all the different light switch settings with the car running, in park, in drive, and with the engine not running. The only indicator I have is above the fuel gage and it is a blue indicator. Of course, that is only when I have my bright lights on!
  21. I bet they will look very nice and just a little bit different than what any other Edge's are running around with. One of the questions from that post I linked to was if these are chrome CLAD (plastic chrome glued onto the steel wheel like the OEM 20") or if they are actually chrome PLATED. Did you happen to find out? If not, please let us know once you get them. If they are in fact chrome plated, I think that makes in an even BETTER deal than the OEM ones.
  22. This question has been asked and answered previously here on the forum. I would not hesitate at all to buy a set from that seller! This link will answer your question. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11821-can-this-be-true-wheel-question/?hl=%2Bdetroit+%2Bwheel&do=findComment&comment=90065 Calling or asking the seller any questions on the auction site could also answer any other questions you have about them.
  23. For the metal ring, I've just always used a piece of brass round stock. Tapping the ring on those outside notches will get it to free up and spin off. I prefer the brass just because there is no chance of producing a spark which can occur with metal on metal.
  24. Cellbine, back in January you and I posted to Buffaloedge when he was asking about installing some under dash LED lights. There is information in the post about what wires were suggested he use, and some pictures by him of where he was finding power for his project. You had posted the picture with the purple wire, and I had posted a link to the illuminated sill install instruction. Here is Buffaloedge's post http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11896-tap-into-entry-lighting-wiring-to-intstall-led-strips-under-dash/?hl=%2Billuminated+%2Bsill+%2Bplates&do=findComment&comment=90639 Here is a link to the sill plate installation questions. Reply #2 in this link has the downloadable instructions from Ford saying to use the grey/violet wire for the sill plates. Reply #4 is from an owner who watched the dealer install his sill plates and they had to use the purple wire (he thought it was purple and grey according to his post). http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/8315-it-is-hard-to-install-illuminated-door-sill-plates-ford-edge-2011/
