  1. I don't understand the need to relearn the sensors on our Edges. I rotated the tires on my 2013 several weeks ago and did not have to reset the sensors for any reason. All they do is give a signal when a tire is low. It does not give the location or the pressure reading. Our previous GM had readings for each tire and it gave the location of which tire. When those were rotated, they did have to be reset if you wanted an accurate display of which tire was low or where the tire was located. You could use a tool to reset, or up until the early 2011 models, the car could be reset by going through the drivers information display. Our Acura also displays the readings and locations, but when rotated they do not have to be reset, they do it automatically. As someone else mentioned earlier, the Edge system is basically a "Go" "No Go" type sensor.
  2. Several weeks ago I asked the same question about dye on the leather seats on the "Ask a detailer" thread. Never did get an answer. I have used some Aero 303 to remove some of it, but am still looking for a good cleaner and protector to put on it. Do a Google or other internet search for "blue jean dye stains on car leather seats" and you will get all kinds of answers and suggestions. I was hoping one of the detailers who have posted on this forum might provide a magic bullet to solve and prevent this from happing.
  3. Looking at the schematic you've posted, part #7 on the list has the same numbers as the replacement part that is listed in the TSB I posted except for the first 5 digits/letters and the "C" at the end. PART NUMBER PART NAME AA5Z-19E616-C Motor Assembly Doesn't look to be too difficult of a job for the OP if that will solve the problem. It also appears there might be a left and a right actuator. Maybe one for the driver's side, and one for the passenger side?
  4. While checking another forum I belong to (Ford Explorer) I found this for the 2011 model year Explorer. Don't know what year Edge you have or if the two systems are similar (I would bet they use many of the same parts). You might want to see if there is anything for the Edge. I also see they are allowing 1.1 hours to do this job. Even with parts yours sounds very expensive. 5. Use this link to see what differences there are between the two sizes http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
  6. TPM or TPMS is Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor. Each wheel has a sensor inside which is a radio transmitter and tire pressure monitor. Each sensor communicates with a module inside the car on a specific frequency, each sensor using the same frequency. When a tire goes below a set reading, or in some cases is a certain percentage different than the other tires, it will send a signal and your light on the dash board will come on. The system in the Ford Edge will only alert that a tire is low, it will not tell you which tire, nor will it read and report each individual tire pressure reading. Other manufacturers use a more advanced system which on the dash will show each individual tire, it's position (LF, RR, etc), and each individual tire pressure reading such as 32 PSI. The sensors need to be reset or placed in a learning mode sometimes, usually when they have been replaced, or when the tires have been rotated. The sensors are reset, not the module. I have rotated the tires on my Edge but did not have to reset the sensors. If a sensor does have to be reset, any tire installer should have the proper tool to do so, or you can buy a tool for around $50.00 which will reset the Edge's sensor. You don't have to go to a Ford dealer to have it done.
  7. I still have these 18" Ford Edge wheels for sale.

    Coolant Leak

I looked at my calender to make sure it isn't April 1. Wow is all I can say about this post and the "service" being given by Ford and the dealer.
  9. Thanks for the post about the lights (original posted by Candurin) and the install by SoCalEdge2012. I just ordered a pair of the lights from the original link for under $3.00 which included free shipping! If you have any install hints or suggestions, I would like to see them posted here or if you want to PM me. I think if you posted on the board that would be more along the forum community idea of helping each other as there may be others interested in doing this themselves also. Thanks
  10. Did you buy from a private owner or a dealership. If a private owner, check with them to find out what the switch is for and how it works. You might be able to track down the previous owner and ask him if you bought it from a dealer or not the person who added the switch. If from a dealer, I would take it to them (if you got any type of warranty) and tell them the nav isn't working correctly. Don't specify the switch, let them figure out what is wrong. It sounds to me like the previous owner installed a by-pass switch to work the nav or DVD while in motion. I don't know if he ever had it working correctly or if he just left it there and removed or unhooked something else.
  11. The only hold I had read about was regarding the newest version 3.5 of the MFT. Several weeks ago, dealers were not allowed to demo or sell any in stock units which did not have the latest upgrade. Not sure if your newly built Ford is being delayed because of that. I would doubt it but stranger things have happened.

    Question

  13. e-Bay, Craigslist, or some salvage yards. Here is a link to a nation wide search of participating salvage yards. You can choose your area only, or the complete country. http://car-part.com/
  14. Plug your tire sizes into this online calculator to see what differences are between your stock tire sizes and any other size you are thinking of putting on. Rule of thumb is to not make a change greater than 3% on the speedometer reading. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
  15. I believe you only get 20 free calls per year, after which you have to pay a fee. I'm not sure how much or how many additional free turn by turns it would provide if you purchase the service. I use my navigation more than 20 times a month even just for finding stores, restaurant, shops, etc on the other side of town or even in the area. I have yet to make even 1 call for the turn by turn and had purchased the car in July.
  16. So any suggestions as to which products to use to remove blue jean denim dye transfer to the seats? Anything I can use to help prevent it from happening or to make it easier to remove?
  17. What is your definition of "terrible mileage" and "mileage is getting worse"? If you post some numbers other owner's will be able to compare yours to theirs. What MPG's are you/were you seeing, and how has it gone down?

    PCM Failure

Enter your 17" and 18" tire sizes into this calculator to see how much of a difference there really is between the two sizes. This will show you sidewall amount, height, width, RPM's, speedometer readings, etc. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html When I was deciding to stay with the factory 20" wheels which came on the Edge or to replace them with a factory 18" set, I was surprised to see there was almost a ZERO difference between the two sizes! It's all because of the tire ratios and tire sizes which Ford uses. This results in no need for different gearing in the trans-axle or transmission as in past years. Heck, I could have even gone down to a 17" factory setup without too much difference from the 20" to worry about.
  19. You can download and install the new update V 3.5.1 by checking the third post of this link to the Explorer forum where they have the TSB posted. This is what the Ford service technicians use to obtain their copies right now. Paste the address from page 2 of the TSB into your web address bar and you can download and install the newest version. Remember, if you have NAVIGATION YOU MUST OBTAIN A NEW A4 CARD, otherwise your navigation will not work! Those cards are only being given when the Ford service department does the update from what I have read. Others on that forum without nav have installed it following the TSB instructions posted and have been pleased with the results. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=373708
  20. Same exact problem we have with the weather map and info on our 2013 Edge built in June of 2012. I have installed the V3.2.2 and it made no difference. I have never done a "Master Reset" or tried removing the SD card. What is the thumb drive you also mention? I just figure that when it comes time to renew the Sirius, I will not pay extra for the weather service. I will be checking with my dealer to see if the newest update V3.5.1 which includes the A4 navigation card might make a difference.
  21. I just went through the pages of this post and got some great information and product suggestions for ALL of my vehicles, not just the Edge. Thanks to everyone who contributed suggestions. I did not see any mention of one problem I am having, and have read about also on other forums I belong to. Our 2 cars, the Edge and an MDX both have leather. I am seeing the leather picking up blue stains or discoloration from blue jeans. Our previous Traverse also had leather and did the same thing. Seems to be a problem with many owner's regardless of what brand of vehicle or what quality of leather is used. What is a good product which will clean the seats. Have any of the professional detailers here seen or heard of the problem? Thanks in advance.
  22. There should be no reason to re program it. It should shut the dash light off after a few minutes of driving on a freeway, if the light even comes on which it might not.
  23. I bought a set of 4 TPMS sensors from a seller on eBay for under $60.00. When I had tires switched to different rims I had the sensors installed at the same time by Discount Tire. I don't know if they had to program the new sensors or not. I was getting the light on the dash board for the first 15 miles or so but it went away once I got on a freeway and drove 60 mph for several minutes. I don't know if the sensors have to be programed by using a tool or if they just program themselves while driving.
  24. Everywhere I go im told that they do not make a steel 17" wheel option for my edge. Is this true, because Ive seen people on this site with them on there same year edges. Yes, there is a 17 inch wheel for the Edge which came factory installed. I don't know what years they came, but they were a factory wheel. I found a pair of 20" 2008 limited wheels for a real good price but have read here that the center bore is different and will not work. Is there a safe way to make this work without machining out the wheel any further? The bore on the 2008 is larger than the 2011. It will fit your 2011 with no problem if you use wheel centric hubs on each wheel. You need to reduce the hub opening from 70.5mm (2.77 inches) to 63.4mm (2.5 inches). You can find these by doing a Google search. If you are planning on using TPMS sensors to avoid the light on the dash from staying on, you will need different sensors than the ones that the 2008 use. You need a set from 2011 or newer which use a different mounting method and a different frequency than the 2010 and older models. No problem changing them out. can anyone tell me what other OEM ford wheels will for on the 2011 edge. Ive seen people use Flex wheels, and mustang wheels, but didnt know if they truly swap out easily or if there was additional work that needed to be done, and also what other wheels may fit (explorer, escape, ranger???) I installed some Flex wheels on my 2013 Edge and they were a direct fit. No need for any centric hubs or anything. I believe the 2011 Explorer and newer will fit, but not sure if a wheel centric hub is needed. I got conflicting answers from several tire installers I asked. I couldn't find a wheel to actually measure the hub bore to see what size it really was.
