  1. No. They are a Fleet only option in the US. Probably standard in Canada. US dealers can turn them on for a labor charge - (reprogram the computer.)
  2. Since we don't know how many miles are on your vehicle or if you are the original owner, it's hard to guess what the dealership might do - depending on what they find. If it is warped rotors then it is likely driver error (or at least driver caused.) They may fix it under warranty or tell you it's on your dime. Regardless, in the future, whenever you make a hard stop, don't hold the brake down - roll it out or put the vehicle in park and let off on the brake. Heat (up to 1400 degrees) needs to disapate evenly arount the rotor. If you sit with the pad against the rotor, and hold the heat there, you can warp the rotor and it will have to be turned to true it up again. Let us know what they did.
  3. My wife just got the renewal notice from Sirius on her MKX. I signed up for another 6 months on line. If Sirius doesn't have your name/address from the dealership when you bought the vehicle, go online to their website and register. It will give you the renewal info and plans also. It should have all happened when the dealership reported the vehicle sold, but somebody might have dropped the ball. I looked for discount plans but found only savings on hardware - not subscriptions (other than what they offer on the website.)
  4. If I needed 7 passenger room, I could have purchased the Mazda CX9 - but it is rare that there are more than 2 of us in the car.
  5. Customer Satisfaction related issues are dealt with daily within the responsible engineering communities. Often a minor change to a production part will be made to prevent field concerns. In some instances, assembly changes or quality checks can be made on the line. The manufacturer representative (Ford or outside supplier), the design engineer, the service engineer and plant liason will meet (often at the plant) and design a "Fix" or quality assurance step as soon as possible. If parts have to be re-engineered, it can take several weeks for full approval and retooling, but the fix does not have to wait for a major mid cycle change point. As soon as the newly designed part can be produced, it is implemented into production. Job 2 and Job 3 changes generally involve option and feature content (SYNC, new series, mid year color changes, etc.) Price changes can occur at any time regardless of "Job" changes.
  6. I went to the Fprd Flex web site and did the "Build and Price" excercise. Based on the pricing I saw, it was too high to keep my interest, so I bought the Edge to go along with our MKX. In monitoring the Flex site, I see there were several pricing levels that Ford displayed, to judge acceptance. I must have gotten the high end range of prices. I told them in their survey that the prices were too high for the perceived value and decided not to wait. Had I tried it with the lower range of prices, I might have waited for the Flex. We will see where they price it when it's released. Not sure why they need the FLEX since the Edge and MKX fit most needs very well.
  7. Ask your local dealership to run OASIS on your VIN. That will tell you the selling dealership. Call them and ask if they have the keyless entry code on file with the deal jacket. (If you don't find it on a hinge, etc.)
  8. The Service Advisor has not seen enough of the concern to really know the situation and probably did not check it out. What they should have done was run an OASIS on your VIN and code "brake noise" and they would have likely received the explanation you read here. Might call them back and ask if there are any service messages on the issue and see what they say. Why could they not duplicate the noise?, because they are looking for a deep grinding noise that indicates a problem like caliper sticking, emergency brake drag, etc. They didn't hear that, so it's normal - which it is.
  9. Insufficient data to comment - AWD or FWD? What is the MSRP on thw window sticker? How much for the remote start? We will try to help, but just guessing now.
  10. Remember that there are national incentives and local incentives. Just because someone in another zip code got $XX cash back, etc. does not mean it is offered in your area. Local dealer organizations can put additional cash on vehicles in their market, so what I see in Atlanta might not be offered in Nashville. When discussing incentives, always ask if there are any local incentives or special association incentives for which you might be eligible. Sometimes AARP, employeers, various suppliers have an added kicker. The incentive system is VIN specific and your salesperson will likely have to ask the sales manager to check the vin on the vehicle you are looking at for any additional incentives. (First 2 and last 8 of the VIN.) :happy feet: :happy feet:
  11. Save gas - don't pull a trailer. Stay in a nice hotel, motel or lodge. You will likely save money over buying, insuring, pulling, feeding and caring for a trailer. We all assume we will use them more than we really do and after a few years realize we have spent more on them than staying in nice accomodations, without all the hassle. Just my opinion, nothing humble about it.
  12. Since you want 17" wheels, I suggest you see what's available at tirerack.com.
  13. From looking at the owner's manual ---- 8,400# combined weight - vehicle, passengers, gear, fluids and trailer - MAX. Anything over 4,900# (combined as above) requires trailer brakes. Good Luck
  14. Just turned over 500 miles on the Edge - almost 3,000 on the MKX. No issues on either. Tried the hypermiler techniques going to my dealership last week (to visit) - 40 miles on highway at 55 mph and got 29.6 mpg. I think by Spring when I'm ready for a full raod trip 1,000 miles each way. I'll get very high 20's on the road. Getting 21 Mpg overall - but mostly stop and go. Love both vehicles. The 2007 Edge is an SEL+ with back up sensors, memory seat, audio system with Sirius, cargo management, 18" wheels, leather, etc. Did not get the BAMR, DVD or Navigation. We bought the Edge and leased the MKX - we'll decide in another 18 months which to keep and which to let our son buy from us -(they love them also.)
  15. I recall this being a big issue with the white seats in the Thunderbird when they were new (2002). Do a search for "leather seat discoloration jeans" and find out how to clean and protect the seats. A lot of stuff will harm the leather. Check the owner's manual for leather care. Your Ford dealer has cleaners and protectants that the Ford engineers approve for the leather in our vehicles. Motorcraft.com has Ford chemical product descriptions. Good luck -
  16. Congrats and Welcome to the forum. I know you will enjoy your Edge. My wife got the MKX and after driving it I decided on the Edge for me. Both are great vehicles. In the past 42 years we have had over 110 new vehicles and these are among the best we have owned and leased. :happy feet: Keep us informed of your experiences. Most of us want this to be an owner friendly environment. There are very few knuckleheads that think we visit here for the amusing anecdotes and barbs they can deliver. At least it's not like the Camaro/Mustang forums (yet).
  17. The story leaves out the mention of a new 4 cylinder TDI engine that will become standard fare in many of the new vehicles, with the V6 being an option. I would prefer the 4 cylinder if it gets significantly better fuel economy and still pumps out 230 Horse Power or better. We will see how it unfolds as 2009 approaches.
  18. The dealer may have had a stock unit in the ordering system that had not been serilized yet and could be changed to the buyer's specs - or as you stated, may have been exactially what the buyer wanted.
  19. Ford made a price change and the web site just hasn't caught up yet. You can find a unit in inventory at the old price or order at the new price. The official price is what is on the VOC or invoice - not on the web.
  20. When Ford makes price changes, vehicles in inventory have the old price and anything ordered after the price change gets the new prices. Price level 815 which was effective 6/6/07 shows the BAMR at $1395. I don't have the latest prices but I can surmise that the base price went up and the BAMR increased by $100. Had you found a unit in inventory that was invoiced under the old prices, you would have saved that difference. The dealer is not trying to take advantage of you. Prices change and incentives change. Your pricing will be what is shown on your VOC. See it it has PL820 or PL825 as the price level spmewhere on the VOC.
  21. Great news - Congrats When the vehicle comes in, the best way to determine that you are getting the correct pricing is to have them run a VinCent report on your vehicle. It will identify all incentives you might be eligible for (national incentives - cash or APR), local or special X-Plan incentives (if any), association incentives (through your workplace or associations - if any). People often don't realize that AARP, national horse owners association, supplier companies to Ford, etc. occasionally have bonus incentives. If the dealer doesn't check and ask, it goes unnoticed and unclaimed. Incentives can vary by zip code so they will put that in first in their VinCent search. If you live in Tennessee, but buy in Georgia, you will get the incnetives for your zip code in Tennessee. :happy feet:
  22. From the order guide: "Premium Package & Seating Flexibility Package are not available together on SEL. For both packages order a Limited." If that is what you want, focus your attention on the Limited with a wheel swap.
  23. Figure the Limited at $2,700 over the SEL before options. Standard Limited features cost this much on an SEL: SYNC $336 Chrome wheels $638 Reverse Sensing $251 Leather seats $838 9 Speaker audio $328 Plus the Limited has standard: memory seats (in SEL premium seating package) 6 way power passenger seat (in SEL premium seating pkg.) Dual climate controls Universal garage door opener If you don't want chrome clad wheels, and a few more features that are standard on the Limited, the SEL to meet your requirements should invoice for less money than a Limited. :happy feet:
  24. Now that you have everyone's attention - is this a FWD or AWD vehicle you are talking about? Did they mean transmission or power transfer case for AWD? Is it really leaking into the engine or at the engine side of the unit? Since we have not heard of this type concern, it's doubtful that there would be a recall (implying a goodly percentage of the units would have this concern) - more likely a TSB. Unless your contact at the dealership has been in touch with Car Service Engineering at Ford on the issue, and they said a recall was coming, I wouldn't bet on it. See if you can get a better definition of the concern so we don't all become paranoid and think that every drop of road oil that burns off the exhaust pipe is an indicator that our trans has a problem.
  25. Welcome and thanks for checking in - Hope you enjoy your Edge for a long time to come. P.S. - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays :happy feet:
