This question has been asked a few times. Personally I don't think a bull bar belongs on an Edge but it's your car. If I had to make a choice id say black.

I've stated this in other threads but I'll say it here again. REAL Chrome wheels should always be taken off your car during the winter weather, particularly in areas that use road salt. Salt and salt water are chrome's worst enemy. When chrome is exposed to salt, a chemical reaction occurs in which the salt literally "eats" the chromium right off the finish. This causes the chrome to eventually flake off and pits the metal surface of the wheel, often causing a condition in which the tires cannot seal correctly because the underlying surface of the wheel is flaking and pitted. This problem by removing the flaking chrome and underlying corrosion with a special grinding disc. Salt corrosion will destroy a chrome finish within a very few years. IF manufactured correctly the chrome clad wheel will be more resistant to the elements and keep it luster much longer. Ford has had some issues in the past with its chrome clad wheels flaking and from what im hearing have changed their supplier. That might be why the website you're listing has a recall listed for them. So in all actuality you might have gotten a better wheel than you thought.

%$$**! dealer service dept and their torque wrenches!!!
MOFSTEEL replied to klc317's topic in Mods & Tech
As already stated the torque wrench is adjustable to ft/lbs torque and would be used to properly install an oil pan plug to spec. Using an impact gun to install an oil pan plug is pretty asinine. -
AVS or Auto Ventshade sells a chrome bug deflector. 07-10 are all the same fit. IMO the smoked sheild looks better. The Edge already has too much chrome on it.

I hear the same thing and although the noise from surface rust is normal we still shouldn't be hearing it so clearly on the inside of the vehicle. Seems to me it is from lack of insulation in the wheel wells. In fact there is no insulation around the spare tire at all. This is something im going to bring up with service when I bring it in for my first oil change. I must say it is the only thing that annoys me about the Edge and don't see why Ford couldnt have corrected this by the 2010 model.

I'm pretty sure everyone in here knows they are chrome clad since near everyone here owns an Edge/MKX. Just have your wheels replaced under warranty. Supposedly Ford has changed their wheel supplier and the issue is resolved. Just a little 411, if the wheels were actually chrome dipped they would not only be heavier but even more susceptible to pitting and chipping from being exposed the the elements. To me the chrome clad wheels are the lessor of the two evils.

Anyone else hear wind noise from passenger side Edge?
MOFSTEEL replied to ActionBastard's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
You do know that Ford owned 33% since 1996 until 2008 when they sold 20% and now owns 13% of Mazda. -
Why not put the snow tires on the 18" wheels? Get the 20's for the summer/spring time.
-
It really depends on all the options you got. Hard to tell when everything isn't listed. Is this for a FWD or AWD? 32k includes tax, title, & plates?

If you read the thread from the beginning you would see my first comment is " ". Just simply meant I don't like it. I didn't attack the OP, his car, or where he lived. Right away he became ignorant and started insulting everything about me he could possibly muster up. Maybe some of you are new at forums but this is a place where people state opinions. (Good and bad) If you don't want anyone to say they don't like what you did to your car then don't post pics on a public forum. I swear some of you must live in a box. "Grow up" is right.

The Edge has done great the past few days. From freezing rain to 8-10 inches of snow the 20" Pirelli's performed near flawlessly. AWD FTW

What is buried*? Certainly not my car because it stays nice and warm in my garage every night. I even had a water spigot installed in my garage so I could wash her in the winter months. Funny you speak negatively of other transplants and you even said yourself that you are a transplant. A dbag calling others just like him dbags. REAL carbon fiber is stylish and REAL unlike the plastic wood stickers you installed on your Edge. I'm guessing your next mod will be teddy bear wheels. No worries... it's your car and you have to drive it. Not me. Sounds like the heat has helped evaporate all your common sense and distorted your eyesight. Not everyone detests the snow and cold weather like yourself. Again if it actually bothered me I would not choose to live here.

How is stating ones opinion bullying?? It's not like im telling him im going to beat him up because he added some stickers to his interior.

Congrats for you having seen snow in the past. :happy feet: If I wanted to move out of Chicago I would but there is no place like home. That is why I decided to build a house here just a few months ago. I think your faux wood dash looks like shit and you think the weather here is shit. Opinions are just like aholes. At least the snow here is real. BTW the dash piece is actually brushed aluminum. The shifter surround is plastic. I'm just not a fan of any wood. I had the choice of a REAL wood dash trim on my Audi and I opted for the carbon fiber. If I wanted to make a change I'd just have the OEM trim wrapped in REAL carbon fiber. Stickers don't do it for me... even the 3D kind. C'est la vie!

I don't know what a gaudy faux wood dash kit has to do with weather but my Edge seemed to enjoy plowing through 8-10 inches of snow today. Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow!!!

Aftermarket Leather Upholstery for Edge?
MOFSTEEL replied to Osiris1975's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
They have to be removed to get the desired look/fit. They are not some cheapo slip covers you get from an autoparts store. Here's a link to their site. http://katzkin.com/main.html I'm sure if you are somewhat skilled you can do the install yourself. I believe they sell an install kit. -

I had Katzkin leather in one of my past vehicles and the company is well known for the quality of leather. -

This is the best I can do until the weather warms up and they're installed.
