  1. SAE 0W-20 100% Synthetic •API SM/CF, SL, SJ. . . •ILSAC GF-4, 3. . . •ACEA A1/B1 •Ford WSS-M2C930-A •Chrysler MS-6395N http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asm.aspx I thought Motorcraft did not make a full synthetic 5W-20. I'll look for it, thanks.
  2. OK, thanks for the reply. It's just as well as my other Ford spec's the same 5W-20 oil and sports the same verbage in the manual.
  3. Is there agreement that any SAE 0W-20 oil that meets the Ford WSS-M2C930-A specification can be used in our Edge without warranty issues? I need to know since where I live the winters can be brutally frigid.
  4. When I shut off the engine, turn the ignition to the accessory position and turn on the Premium head unit with volume all the way down to zero, I can hear what sounds similiar to a small computer fan motor with a bad bearing coming directly from the subwoofer speaker. It also sounds sort of like what a needle playing a vinyl LP record sounds like at the end of a side. Hard to describe and also difficult to diagnose just by listening. Strange. Perhaps its a subwoofer amp going bad or some type of electrical interference getting into the audio. But it is constant and only noticeable with the volume turned down to zero.
  5. Yes, I do to. It is continuous. When I shut off the engine, turn the ignition to the accessory position and turn on the Premium head unit with volume all the way down to zero, I can hear what sounds similiar to a small computer fan motor with a bad bearing coming directly from the subwoofer speaker. 7. 2 tweeters located in the A-pillars above the dash. 2 mid-range speakers located in the front doors. 4 speakers located in the rear doors ( 2 x 2way speakers). 1 Subwoofer located in the right rear. _______________________________________ 9 Speakers Total I have heard not a whining sound but more like a grinding sound from the rear area with the 6-CD Premium head unit on with no audio. I'll check it out again and post later.
  8. Is the Motorcraft FL-500S oil filters used on the 2010 and presumably 2011 Edge larger or smaller than the new FL-400? The measured FL-500S filter dimensions are roughly, 4"L x 3"W x 9.5"Diameter As soon as a FL-500S aftermarket replacement becomes available I will be using Amsoil Ea Synthetic Nanofiber Oil Filters. http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eao.aspx [i have no financial interest in Amsoil.]

  10. I thought so to but I wasn't going to argue with him knowing that if I he'd be liable to bill me :beatdeadhorse:
  11. I just wanted to add info to my DLS MS6A 6-1/2'' speaker install in the front door. These 5x7"/6x8" to 6-1/2'' speaker adapters are the best I have found: http://www.car-speaker-adapters.com/items.php?id=SAK006 I havn't had the opportunity to proceed with the speaker swap as the weather has been too nasty. So I can not provide details as of yet. However, spring must be near as the Cardinals arrived a few weeks ago.
  12. Well, to add more confusion to this topic. I went to my U.S. Ford dealer and had the DRL "Enabled" on my 2010 Edge just as described elsewhere. It took all but 10 minutes and no charge. The mechanic said the 2010 Edge's are the first year with the DRL "modules" installed at the factory. Previous years (2007-2009) required the purchase of a $110 DRL module. LOL! Take that with a grain of salt.
  13. Thanks to everyone for the DRL info. It is sincerely appreciated. This was one of the few things I wanted with my Edge and now I will have it Here is a neat 3 minute video tutorial about Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) http://www.afrotechmods.com/groovy/PWM_tutorial/PWM_tutorial.htm
  14. Here's a good thread about DRLs http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1593
  15. I would like to do this. Are you saying that it is a simple software switch and all the hardware is already installed at the factory? Is it true DRLs where the headlights are dimmed and the parking and tail lights remain off? How much does a dealer charge? Why would Ford not turn them on by default if the hardware is in place? So that we can pay the dealer to turn it on?
  16. Does the factory Edge antenna work with the Sync system and garage door openner in any way or is this antenna just for the AM/FM radio?
  17. I received an email today that they shipped my order.
  18. Placed my order on Tuesday, Jan. 12th for 1st & 2nd row in black. Full amount was charged to my credit card on this same day. I am also still waiting. They did ship a license plate frame immediately.
  19. The real fix is to elect politicians that do not have the infinite desire to regulate every aspect of our lives. This is a classical product of higher taxes and greater deficits to support a nonproductive ever expanding goverenment forever bent on creating more laws and regulating every aspect of our lives until we have lost any resemblence of freedom and suffocate to death. It's called Socialism. But that's a case for the off-topic thread. Bless you for taking the time to research this!
  20. If you have the opportunity to install sound deadening material do it. I have used Dynamat in the past only because I know it uses known materials that on a weight for volume basis gives you the most deadening. Keep in mind that most sound deadening materials for the car will enhance your bass. The material lowers the road noise level mostly in the bass range thus making bass in your music more noticeable or slightly louder if you will. But if you aren't as anal about details as I am then use whatever makes sense for your application. Hope this was somewhat helpful.
  21. I have a 2010 Edge w/Premium audio system and the only thing that I miss is a HD radio - LOL!
  22. Kanatronic, I noticed in the Subwoofer thread here you were looking to "drop in" a new 8" subwoofer. Have you discovered any particular driver that would be appropriate without having to replace the factory subamp?
  23. I don't recommend this. Each crossover is designed for use with a specific speaker model. Although it may work you most likely will compromise the audio quality. You should use the crossover that was made for the specific speaker you are installing. Here is a good wiki about crossovers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_crossover
  24. I read your suggestion about this previously. I think every stock Ford speaker is "double grilled". I know what you are sayin'. I think they are also made of paper cones, not sure. Paper is good but not inside a car door residing in extremes of weather. They are also in sealed boxes. This can't be good. BTW, I meant to mention in my previous post, excellent point about the head unit likly redirecting lows below 100Hz to the subamp/woofer. The Premium Sound System is really not that bad. The System is certainly well designed and balanced. Better than previous "Premium" systems in my previous Ford family vehicles of years past. I guess it all depends on each individual's "ear" to decide what constitutes "Premium". My home system spoils me... :violin: :banana piano:
  25. Yes, the Premium System in the Limited includes a 8" subwoofer in the right rear quarter panel. Seems adequate to me at the moment as I am not looking for a big thump. My tastes can be defined as being, er, refined eclecticism :shades: - classical, classic rock and pop, funk, fusion and jazz of all kinds. Hey, check out Hiromi! OK! Thank you for your feedback. I am releived to know your opinion parallels my thoughts. I just wasn't sure. I ask you since you own DLS speakers but I have never heard them. Read many fine reviews about them from the EU and the US. I like the way silk dome tweeters sound and the fact that the dome design provides better imaging. I have installed Infinity Reference and Kappa 6x8" in my other vehicles. I have found the References to be very good and the Kappas to be a bit boomy. However, both were an improvement over factory "Premium" sound systems. Always in search for something new and improved I'll give DLS a try. So, now that you have had your DLS-457's for some time now, how do you like them over others you have had in the past?
