Paint to match?

So I know people have had a ford dealer or a shop paint parts on their edge to match the body color but I was wondering if anyone has painted parts themselves and got it to match (at least to the naked eye)? I'm looking to scuff up some of the small chrome on the car and paint it black but need that glossy look to match the body, not flat or matte. any help is appreciated. thanks

It can be done if you use good quality spray paint with base coat and clear coat and wetsand it. I painted the aftermarket keyless entry surround to match my daughter's Ingot Silver Focus and it turned out great using spray paint from paintscratch.com. Of course then she totalled it and the new one is dark grey so I had to remove all of the paint and make the plastic shiny again so it matched the new color.

I think you may have to do more to the chrome than just scuff it to get the paint to bond properly but the paint itself shouldn't be a problem.

Other than what dingo suggested, how else could I get the paint to bond properly? I want to do this right the first time ha but I will also probably get that product that he suggested too

Scuff the surface before applying the adhesion promoter, then follow the directions on the paint cans. primer, basecoat, and 2 or 3 clearcoats.
