Help with memory seat/mirror

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble setting the memory/seat feature on my new Edge. My wife uses #1 tranmitter and everything works great for her. I use #2 transmitter and the seat function works fine, but the mirror goes to a generic setting. I have to tip the mirror up when ever I use the car. I'll press "set" like it says in the maunual and within 5 secs I'll press the "lock" or "unlock" button on the transmitter, then press "2" on the set button. It will not stay there if I exit the car and lock the door, because when I unlock the door to re-entry,the mirror moves the generic seting. If I don't lock the door, the mirror won't move from the last time I set it. I hope this makes sense to someone, because I don't know what i could be doing wrong and the dealer said they couln't find anything wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I THINK I may have figured this out. I was following the same directions that you were and I could get one set but not two.

I went to MyFordEdge.com and downloaded 2007 Edge owners manual to see if it gave the same directions. No they are different as shown on pages 116 & 117. These directions are a lot different!!!!

Both 1 & 2 seem to be working properly now.

Activating the memory feature.

1. Position the seat and mirrors to the desired positions.

2. Press the SET control on the driver's door panel.

3.Within 5 seconds, press the 1 or 2 control on the drivers door panel to associate with the Driver 1 or Driver 2 position.

4. Press the SET button again.

5.Within 5 seconds, press a button on the associated Intergrated Keyhead Transmitter.

6. Within 5 seconds, press the 1 or 2 control on the driver's door panel to associate with the Driver 1 or Driver 2 position.

Hope this works for you too.

So you followed these instructions and nothing happened? Power window up/down, locks etc. all working ok otherwise? Might be that the "control panel" needs to be removed and the connectors cleaned, or the Driver Seat Module (underneath driver seat) may actually have an issue (disconnect, clean, reconnect, etc).

Memory seat and mirrors (if equipped)
This system allows automatic
positioning of the driver seat and
outside rearview mirrors, to two
programmable positions.

The memory seat control is located
on the driver door.

• To program position one, move
the driver seat and exterior
mirrors to the desired positions
using the associated controls.
Press the SET control. The SET control light will briefly illuminate.
While the light is illuminated, press control 1.
• To program position two, repeat the previous procedure using control 2.
A position can only be recalled when the transmission gearshift is in Park
(automatic transmission). A memory seat position may be programmed
at any time.

The memory seat positions are also recalled when you press your remote
entry transmitter UNLOCK control and the transmitter is programmed to
a memory seat position or when you enter a valid customer code 1 or 2
on the keypad.

To program the memory seat to remote entry transmitter, refer to
Remote entry system in the Locks and Security chapter..
Note: The seat will not travel to its final position if the key is not
in the ignition and the easy entry feature is enabled.

  • 2 weeks later...

I''ve just purchased a used 2013 Edge and have some issues with the memory function.

1. My wife has hers set (1) and we can be going down the road and the side mirror just moves to another position. Not much but enough it has to be readjusted.

2. My setting (2) is fine until I start the car. For a period of time everything is good until I start the car and the seat moves forward a couple of inches. I have to stop it and adjust it back all the way.

Should I take it into a dealer? I can reset both 1 and 2 and everything is okay for awhile then bam, it starts changing. Thanks for any help.
