Multiple things going on!!!

I recently bought a 2007 edge sel plus. Just drove about a hour drive and everything was fine and great. then I stopped at a house with my car running and then the abs light came on with the tcs off light as well. After driving for a minute those lights turned off. Then drove another 30 minutes with no issues at all. then later went out to get food but on the way back the check engine light came on with the air bag light as well. Then the odometer just had dashes on it and the trans would not shift at all. When you went front park to drive it makes a loud clunk. The car will move but it almost feels like it is stuck in second or third gear. Any ideas on what would casue this out of the blue? Thanks for any advice.

A couple of threads that may be useful to you:

So, transmission TSB, PCM update may be in your cards. First, I would try disconnecting the battery for a bit (10-15 minutes), then reconnecting it. The PCM should relearn its' operating conditions initially. Does the problem go away during that time?

But yeah, I hope you have a warranty to go with the Edge.

Thank you fro the response. I will disconnect the battery and see what that does. No warranty for me as I bought it as is. I will let you know if everything goes back to normal.

Well, looks like you have an ODO DATA ERROR message. We just recently had a member go through this, and a couple of transmission sensors had to be replaced to fix the problem.

http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/3514-odo-data-error/

As far as TPMS error, do you have new tires on the Edge, or perhaps even new wheels? A tire shop should be able to reset the monitor if so. Then the monitor will relearn the data from the sensors and after a few miles of driving, that error should go away.

Still possible a sensor is faulty OR the wrong kind of TPMS sensor was installed.

Looking forward to your posting of results with battery disconnect, maybe even a video like this one? :)

Welcome! Had a good laugh with your logo, BTW :)

lol im glad you like it. I am always interested in the response I get from it.

well update on my ride. I dropped it off at a transmission shop and they tell me that sensors and trans all tested good on a scanner. They told me that it was my battery terminals being corroded. they say that on this car if the computer detects a voltage drop it will stay in third gear and shut down features to conserve power. So I cleaned them up and sprayed some corrosion protection on them and we will see. Ill post back with results in a few weeks.

That's interesting about the battery...when I took mine into the dealership recently (http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/3514-odo-data-error/?p=101275) they tested the battery and recommended replacing it...I said, no, I can do that myself and planned to later but then this happened...http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13095-well-glad-i-got-the-tranny-fixed/?p=102177.

My terminals were so corroded at one point a few months, it refused to turn over. I disconnected it, cleaned it, reconnected the terminals and it fired right up. I have (err...had) an Optima yellow top battery. After that last incident, I added the terminal rings and the terminal gel hoping that would keep it from happening again. Even after they replaced my sensors, it drove better but still fluttered in 6th gear some so it makes me wonder...

You may want to go ahead and replace that battery. Do you know if it's the original? I'm thinking not as my OE only lasted about 2.5 years, the Optima was going on year 4.

I am so sorry that happened but I hope everything works out.

Corrosion protection definitely works. My mechanic had used the pink/red stuff on my other car's battery, and it has stayed squeaky clean for years.

This is what the terminals on the Edge looked like when I got it:

Well I have been good to go since I cleaned the terminals. Im jumping for joy yet just because but so far it seems like that was all.
