There are currently 1 million cars on the road with AppLink installed so this upgrade program to add another 3.4 million is pretty substantial. In fact, it’s a pretty hefty expansion of the platform. To qualify for the upgrade, your car, SUV, or truck must be MY2010 or newer. The upgrades will also not all come at once and instead be rolled out over the next year. As for your phone, AppleLink Supports iOS 5 or newer and Android above 2.1 Eclair. A Ford spokesperson confirmed to CNET that the upgrade would still not be compatible with MyFord Touch-equipped cars. http://ces.cnet.com/8301-35289_1-57616498/ford-adding-app-integration-to-3.4-million-cars/ But it does mean that 2011-2014 Edge with the basic MyFord (non-touch) would get the Applink upgrade.
