2008 Edge Starter Issue?

I have a 2008 Edge SEL. Occasionally, once or twice a month maximum, when I turn the key to start the engine, the engine turns over continuously without starting. If I simply leave the key in the 'on' position, it will continue indefinitely. I believe that's a function of the PCM? If I then turn the key off and re-attempt, it starts right up and all is good. The second time has always resulted in a normal start. My understanding is that there is a TSB out for certain Fusions with the same issue? Any thoughts of what's going on would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the Fusions but my '08 Edge Limited does the same thing. When I do the second start, it may run rough for a few seconds but it clears up almost immediately. Somehow, I feel it might be fuel pump related, maybe a relay. It has NEVER not started nor has it ever quit running. Since it is all but impossible to replicate, I have never had it in for an inspection.

I have this same issue. Did anything ever come of this? Did you find out what was wrong?

Hi Daddy_ja,

Are you still experiencing this concern? I recommend bringing your Edge by the local Ford Dealer for diagnosis and repair. You may locate one here.

Let me know if you have questions.

I have this same issue at times with my '08 Limited Edge, it has even quit on once or twice as well... I've taken it in to my Ford dealer to be looked at but they found nothing.

Good evening gottagetchemall,

I recommend a second opinion with another Ford Dealer in your area. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes is all that's needed. You may find one here.

Thanks,

Todd
