Navigation XD card

Recommended Posts

If you install an XD card nothing will work, since an XD card is different from an SD card.

But to answer your real questions:

1. Yes, the card you took out of your totaled Edge is still a perfectly good and usable card. However it's not going to help you much, because any car you buy must have factory navigation installed at the factory and it will come with a new card anyway. Putting the card you have into a car that doesn't have navigation won't make navigation work.

2. As omar302 pointed out, you can remove the SD card and put another one in to listen to music, but navigation will not work when the navigation SD card is not installed.

Two questions.

1. Once the MFT XD card is installed in the vehicle is the information still in the card. I bought a 2014 Edge and two weeks later it was totaled. I took the XD card out when I took my things out of it.

2. Once the nav is installed can we remove the XD card and load a XD card with music?

Sorry to hear about your accident, Salta Woods!

I see everyone has answered your questions, but I'd also like to advise that if you plan on getting a new Edge with navigation on MyFord Touch, you'll receive an SD card with it. I recommend putting your music onto a USB flash drive instead (that way you'll still be able to use navigation if needed).

There won't be much market for a used A4 SD card since anyone who has a Ford with Navigation could have had one from Ford for free. The only people who could use it would be someone who lost the card that came with their car. And that could be you in the future, so why not just keep it!
