J0J0
Well, I just returned from a road trip to Chesapeake, Virginia from Rockland County, NY. It was a nice drive with a mix of highway and local drives. Heading down to Virginia, I took Route 13 and crossed the Chesapeake Bay bridge. For those of you that don't know, route 13 is a mix of highway speeds (55-65) and local speeds ranging from 35-55 mph and a lot of stop lights where the roads get into local "downtown"areas in Maryland and Delaware. Along with driving around, my total mileage was 819.5 miles. I used a total of 33.56 gallons for the trip and averaged 24.3 MPG with mixed driving. Pretty good for a 3.5L AWD. BTW, the car is a 2014 SE AWD and only has 11,349.5 miles on the clock. Edited February 16, 2015 by J0J0
Larry
Hi JOJO, That is pretty impressive mileage for a AWD but I think it may get a little better. Sounds like you may have got one of the better cars which I believe is very possible. I don't know how one would be better than another cause they are all build on a assembly line. But that is my feeling. We also got a good one. We have a 13 sel fwd. We have taken two fairly long road trips. Year before last we went from home ( Northern, Indiana ) down through the Cumberland Mountains on over to the Smoky Mountains. We went through all the scenic drives in both , then across to Cherokee, Nc. Visited a friend in Hendersonville, NC , on to Pensacola Fl. then back home. We averaged 26.3 on that trip. Last year we went from home to Harpursville, Ny. down and across using mostly two lane highways to Pensacola, Fl. then back home. That trip was 2,600 miles and averaged 28.2 Larry Northern, In
fishx65
If ya know how to drive for maximum MPG, the 3.5 can do really well. I always stay around 21 in the city and 23 to 28 on the highway depending on temp and speed.
J0J0
I'm sure cruise control and self control had a lot to do with the mileage. I'm sure if I romped on the accelerator from a light or drove aggressively, my mileage would be considerably lower. That being said, I am very happy with my purchase. Especially since it was an impulse buy, well ... kinda. It replaced my daily driver (fwd Impala) which was getting old. I gave that car to a family member that really needed it.
