What about the ground?

You can use a multimeter to check ground. Simply set the meter to the ohms (resistance) or the continuity setting, touch one probe to a known good ground like a dash bolt and then use the other probe to check the wires. When you get 0 ohms or the continuity alert beeps you have found a ground wire. Double check it with the ignition on and off as well as with the lights on and off because some wires will reverse polarity when those are on.
