rbates9
Hi, I am looking for some advise on what some good replacement speakers would be for my Edge. It is an SEL with MFT, no nav, not sony. I am not interested in adding an amp. I just want something to replace what I have that will sound good to great with the factory radio. Now I have a speaker that is crackly so that is the main reason for replacment. But it's always nice to upgrade stuff right! Thanks
akirby
Infinity Kappas and Polk Audio have some good replacements. Even cheap kenwood or pioneers will probably sound better than stock.

Tribby2001
I installed mid-level DLS speakers in my Premium 6CD (no NAV) many years ago and they are the best sounding car speakers I have ever heard driven only by a stock HU. Hard to find as they are a Swedish company. But there are U.S. dealers if you search around. Worth looking for as their mid-level speakers are competitively priced. http://dlsaudio.us/home/caraudio Edited January 30, 2016 by Tribby2001
kkreit01
If you aren't ever planning on an amp, look for mid-level, mainstream brands, that have a high sensitivity.

rbates9
I ended up with a set of Rockford Fosgate in all four doors. They sound decent. Not a lot of bass and almost too clear on the high notes but pretty good. Also, I have made a career out of working around heavy equipment and machine shops so my hearing is not as good as some so keep that in mind.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Do you have the model numbers for the speakers you used? Any pics of the install?
rbates9
The speakers I bought were http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-P1683-8-Inches-Speakers/dp/B001P88U12/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1459697218&sr=8-3&keywords=6x8+speakers . After having them for a little while I think they have grown on me more. They sound good at low volume but get better as the volume goes up. And it took a little time to get the bass, midrange, and treble set right. I didn't take any pictures of the install but I can probably answer any questions you have. Pretty much just remove the door panels, remove the oem speakers, cut off the little alingment tabs on the door (you will see what I mean when you get there) then put everything back together. The rear door panels were pretty easy to get off. The front you need to remove the switch panel (window switches) then take out a bolt along with the other bolt under the upper door handle cover. I spent about an hour and a half in the dark doing all four. Not rushing and some time looking for stuff. Probably about 10 minutes a door if I were to do them again. Also, I ordered the speaker wire adapters from Amazon even though they said they would not fit. They did. But one of the spade connector that connects to the speaker was too small so I had to replace that with the correct size. Let me know if there is anything else.
Russell Sundberg
I installed Kicker cs693 6x9 speakers in my 2012 Edge. ($99 at best buy) The bass is impressive with a crisp sound (without being tinny). I like them a lot! They are rated highly here. http://carspeakerspro.com/reviews/top-rated-6x9-car-speakers/ Now be advised that these are NOT the correct size speakers for this car. I did a bit of a hack by using snips and 2" drywall screws. They fit better in the rear. The front ones are too deep and hit a bracket in the door. They are actually mounted 1/2" proud of the intended position. (you should put insulating material between the bracket and the speaker magnet - it can vibrate on high bass songs) If you don't want a "hack job," don't attempt this !!!
