2016 Edge Lift Gate Not Locking

Fob and car batteries are new. How can I trouble shoot this, thanks!

If it's bouncing back open, its sending something blocking its closing completely. Look for anything around the seal that shouldn't be there. If it doesn't try to reopen, look for missing rubber pads.

Thanks for this I will look into it. To be more clear, the liftgate door does not lock. Doors all lock, but not the lift gate. The liftgate will open and close remotely with the fob, but it doesn't lock. My car isn't secure.

The liftgate will always open with the fob. To test if it is locked, lock the doors and keep the fob away from the vehicle, few meters away, the try to open the liftgate with button above the license plate, it should not open if it is locked.

Like omar302 was saying, this is normal behavior. When the fob is close to the car, the liftgate is unlocked.

 

Close all doors & liftgate. Stand back and hit the lock button on the fob twice. Of you get one honk, everything is locked. Two beeps means something didn't lock.
