b2t
This plastic bracket for the sun shade broke. Can anyone provide part numbers and instructions on how to replace? (There appear to be no topics already established for this issue. I've searched the forum manually by scrolling through the topics and by keyword searches in the sections for "Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers" and "2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II 2017-2018 Edge & MKX" and have only found topics about the glass and it's track. While I've not checked the dealership yet, I do not see parts available beyond 2014.)
Samurai Edge
As far as instructions on how to replace, have you checked other platforms other than there Ford Edge Forums? I suggest a Google search. Instructions for replacing the roof panel seal requires complete removal of the sun roof to perform. Could be this repair will be the same procedure. From the instructions, it's nt overly difficult, but time consuming.

Can you lmk where to find those instructions for replacing the roof panel seal?

I know the four grab handles don't have any exposed fasteners. Thanks for your replies
Samurai Edge
I was confused with your original post. I thought you wanted to replace the actual sunroof panel seal, not the sunshade cable. Quite honestly, this took me 15 seconds to find. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=how+to+replace+ford+edge+sunroof+shade&t=h_&ia=web This will provide you with lots of options on the Ford Sunshade repair. The pictured plastic bracket for the sun shade broke. I'm told it's attached to a "sunroof cable." I see the search term you used in your duck duck go link is "how to replace ford edge sunroof shade" and while infinite results are displayed, none of them are actually for replacing this cable. If you can direct me to something specific relating to my issue, I'd appreciate it. New searches for "sunroof cable" do not reveal anything useful in or outside of this forum. The lack of info available on this leads me to believe it rarely breaks, or everyone lets the dealer fix it, or it's so easy to replace that nobody bothers mentioning it. It's looking like I'll need to drop the headliner, begin removing anything below the cable, and figure out how to get the new cable aligned with the other cable so they're in sync and don't pull the shade unevenly. I'll consider posting the fix in the forum once I'm done.
mqg
@b2t Any updates on this fix? From what I can tell, these parts are called guide clips. I had the drivers side break on my 2018 a few months ago and it was still functioning fine. I tried to adjust it a bit and put too much pressure on the remaining guide clip and the second one snapped as well after a few months. Very unpleasant driving around with an exposed glass ceiling in this 115° Arizona heat, let me tell you. Would love to hear how you went about it. I was quoted $1977.50 for this fix by my ford dealer.
b2t
Ford documents refer to it as a "Sunroof Cable" even though it's for the shade. There's a sku for the driver side and a different sku for the right. The sku for the left/driver side is FT4Z-58500B01-B. Tons of parts places online offer it for $130-250. Try your local dealer first, but mine wanted full retail. Open the shade and open the glass roof all the way first. You have to drop the headliner, which means you need to remove the A, B, and C pillar plastics, the overhead console, the seat belts, grab handles, and visors. That takes close to three hours. The screw covers for the visors are pretty much impossible to remove without breaking the one of the two tabs. The overhead console is more delicate than most people think, so be super careful with it (review youtube thoroughly for that one). You have to take special care to remove the C pillar plastics since one fastener is supposed to pull out of the metal body hole without pulling it off the plastic. You'll have to giggle it around a lot and pay attention to the slot shape to get it out, otherwise you'll break the plastic. Once the headliner is down, you'll have to unscrew one star bit screw on each side of the glass roof bracket (using a long shaft). There are two motors in the rear above the headliner. One is for the shade and the other is for the glass. Once you remove the three screws for the motor, one cable can be replaced in about 15 minutes. If you're considering a rear camera for your dashcam, this is a good time to run wire through the rubber conduit between the chassis and the tailgate.
