CassieB1990 Posted Thursday at 05:06 PM Report Share Posted Thursday at 05:06 PM I bought a used 2016 Edge in October 2025. From the first day my phone would randomly drop from Bluetooth. I checked my Sync and saw the version I had installed was from 2006. Yes, in a 2016, I asked the same question. Ford said I could download the update on a USB and install it myself but the process was too difficult, as the file was too large. I brought it to Ford for 5 hours they tried to do the update and when I got the car back, a message popped up saying "The installation ran out of space or does not work with this version." I tried for two weeks to get in touch with Ford and they finally called back to say they need to run a diagnostic on to find out more for $279.99. He called today and said the APIM is showing it has failed and wants to charge me over $1600 to fix because supposedly my warranty won't cover this. I am super frustrated because I feel like this should have been fixed or at least disclosed to me prior to me buying the vehicle. They aren't budging. I am curious if anyone has run into something like this or are aware of a different way to get this fixed that won't literally cause me to need to sell my kidneys on the black market.
