  1. Good to know guess I should call the dealer and see if they can update mine.. M.
  2. I'm starting to wonder the same thing. I have never been called by the dealer or Ford about any recall etc.. My Sync is version 1.8 installed from the factory back in Oct 2010, and according to the www.syncmyride.com web site there aren't any upgrades available. I also have the "nightlight" issue however most of the time my system works ok, pulled the fuse once, since the car was built, and had two automatic reboots. I'm also in Canada.. Maybe only U.S. Cars are getting updates? Are there any Canadians out there with a newer than 1.8 Sync System? M.
  3. Looks good, how much did it cost for the whole front end? M.
  4. If you didn't do anything after plugging in the USB key, I don't think it did anything. its probably a coincidence that your sync died after plugging in the USB key. As far as I know it doesn't do anything until you access the settings and install/apps. Just plugging it in as far as I know does nothing.. M.
  5. I have a 2011 LTD FWD with about 8000k on it so far, I average about 20 MPG or 11L/100 kms and i'm in Canada, and it's winter. maybe 60 hw - 40 city driving, hoping it gets a bit better once the temperature warms up. M.
  6. Personally I don't think it's the Ipod or USB stick, I personally think the system seems to run out of memory and slow down to a point where it just needs a fresh start. Pulling the fuse causes it to hard down the system, kinda like pulling plug on a desktop computer, and plugging it back in., I really just think they have some memory leaks, and a graceful reboot would be nice.. i.e. a reboot buttonm instead of killing the plug on sync.. M.
  7. I have a 16 GB USB stick with my MP3's on it. I've had my car since Oct 2010, Sync version 1.8 installed at the factory. I used MP3tag to edit the meta data and album art on all my MP3's (wow that was a chore) and everything initially worked ok, a bit sluggish but nothing I couldn't deal with. What I found was after a month or so my album art would no longer display, I didn't have a chance to do anything with it, but randomly sync rebooted one day. After that the album art displayed fine for a period of time. After another month or so it started doing it again, either the icon for a CD was displayed or 1/2 of the icon was displayed or no art displayed. If you touch where the album art is, it will switch to the detailed view and the album art would display (larger) than the normal display. I figured I never look at the album art anyway, so I just left it. Finally I decided to pull fuse 29 and for a reboot of sync. Now everything is back to normal, but i'm sure it will stop working in a month or so and I may need to "reboot" it again. Sorry for the long post, but know your not alone, it does sometime disappear and seems to require a reboot to get it to display again. I'm sure they will refine the software etc(I haven't done any updates, waiting for the 1st service visit), but I wish they would add a reboot option for situations when you think it needs a reboot vs pulling the fuse. M.
  8. The 12 speaker sony system is 390 Watts if I recall. It was buried in some manual or marketing document. I have no idea what the breakdown of each speaker/sub is.. M.
  9. My sync is version 1.8 and i'm using a Kingston 16 GB fat32 formatted U2 USB stick. Not sure of the specs on the USB stick, but I haven't noticed any stuttering. I haven't decided when to get the sync upgrade as mine is working ok, a couple of reboots, and somtime sluggish but works. M.
  10. ETA is displayed on the left hand side. not sure about the average speed or standing time. at 1st I didn't see it but it's there. M.
  11. Contact photos also work fine with my Blackberry 8320. M.
  12. I'm almost certain that the only filesystem which Sync will recognize will be FAT, exFat appears to be only natively supported in Vista/Windows 7, I could be wrong, but sticking to Fat 32 will probably allow it to recognize the HD. I use a 16 GB USB stick, formatted to Fat32 and it works fine. M.
  13. The slot is in the center console, it's just a small hole under the USB/AV inputs. You place the entire FOB inside the "hole" and then you should be able to start the car, as per normal. M.
  14. use at your own risk.. but Audio Systems With Touchscreen 1. Turn the ACM on. (turn on the radio) 1. Operate the audio system in radio tuner (AM/FM) mode. 1. Press and hold the seek up button and the eject button at the same time until the speaker walk-around test begins. * The display indicates each speaker as it is tested. ,<---- I think I was holding the eject on the CD and the seek right on the seek knob on the center console. 1. NOTE: If the speaker walk-around test is the only test required, this procedure can be stopped after Step 3 by turning the ACM off, or by selecting Exit using the touch screen menu. Once the speaker walk-around test is complete, the following information is available through the "BEZEL DIAGNOSTICS" menu using the touchscreen menus: There is a touch screen calibration option I didn't try it on mine, as I didn't have a need.
  15. Hmm.. Mine seem to be warm, at -5-10 degrees C. which is around 23-14 degrees F. Maybe it just needs to be slightly colder? dunno.. I know for sure they aren't on when I open the garage door and remote start it because it isn't cold enough in the Garage. -19C degrees outside today, but around -1C in the garage. M.
  16. Edge Limited has heated seats, which by default are on when you remote start the car if the temp outside is cold enough. I don't know what the temp itself is, but if I remote start the car when it's not parked inside my garage the seats are already warm when I get in. I think the settings are on the left side screen, under vehicle settings, under remote start, I have mine set to automatic. You can set it to previous setting if I recall. The Edge doesn't have cooled seats you'd have to move up to a Lincoln for that. M.
  17. I have my BB curve 8320 paried with my 2011 Edge with MyFord Touch , In the BB I have several contacts with phone number in the following format. xxx-xxx-xxxxpxxx where the P is a pause as entered on the BB. When dialing from the handset it dials xxx-xxx-xxxx pauses for 2 seconds and dials a extension xxx, When it downloads to Sync it only downloads xxx-xxx-xxxx and drops the rest of the number including the pause and the extension. This means I have to click phone on the touchscreen, and manually enter the extension. Is there a way to get sync to recognize the pause and dial the extension? M.
  18. On the 2011 you can click the view button to display the route in text, road by road(split screen view) , then click avoid on any of the roads you want to avoid, and it will route around them. I tried it once or twice but it didn't do much for me.. I was trying to route round traffic on the highway but there wasn't any other routes available. In canada we don't have travellink to route around traffic automatically.. Wish we did.. M.
  19. I think the backup camera has great picture quality as long as the lens is clean. If I notice picture is not clear, I usually just wipe the lens and it's back to a good picture. M.
  20. I haven't seen anything available for anything except the touch screen, but I've had mine LTD since October, I haven't seen a single scratch anywhere on the black plastic, console, or the screen. I don't have the screen protector.. M.
  21. Here's a link/video of the Toyota Offering for those interested. http://www.leftlanenews.com/ces-toyota-entune-multimedia-to-take-on-ford-chrysler.html M.
  22. It was discussed before. http://www.nushield.com/ Has one for the 2011 edge. M.
  23. Personally I think the 1st few times I played with the tech while driving I was very careful not to let the tech information overwhelm me with stuff. After driving my 2011 LTD for the last 2 months or so.. I have to say i've become very comfortable with using the system while driving. The basic's are covered with the normal buttons on the center stack, and the rest of the fancy stuff can be done via voice.. not to mention all other major automobile manufacturers, chrysler/toyota etc all seem to be following Fords lead in this new tecnhology.. everyone has their two cents I guess.. but I like the tech.. M.
  24. Seems like consumer reports doesn't like MyTouch. http://www.freep.com/article/20110104/BUSINESS0102/110104007/1331/business01/Consumer-Reports-pans-Ford-touch-screen-system
