  1. I actually did LOL for this as I said the exact same thing a while ago. Car clocks were always pathetic for keeping accurate time. You now combine this with a computer and it gets worse. I've never understood why the time on a PC can drift so bad when all of the components have high end timing chips. Unless you sync them up, a $10 watch keeps better time then most computers. If they are going to keep it a manual task to update the time, why not make it an "time offset" feature and have it periodicly sync with the GPS and just keep it "offset" by 1 hour...or whatever.
  2. Not sure I agree with that. It is a very simple database or xml file that could be included as a look up. If it syncs with GPS, then a simple location lookup, that includes the date that DST updates then track it. I could program this in 5 min. Yes, its more complicated than having it auto change on a set date, but laces are more complicated then velcro, but still are not complicated. Yes, its not difficult to press the button to fix it, but my point is, you can tell the MFT "I'm Hungry" and it lists out restaurants that are close to you, but still can't figure out how to set the clock right based on where you live. Its these fine details that make a good product great. If it was missing advanced features, its easier to understand. Basic ones make it easy to pick at. From 1.8 to 3.6, my 4" vs main screen radio station genre still don't match. My local nasty talk rock station still has "Educational". Sure, it teaches my kids what a "Dirty Sanchez" is but its not "Educational". The main screen has" Rock". Yes its 100x better then my original 1.8, but common!! With the versions this has gone through you'd think it would have a teleport button by now. Where's our browser that was promissed before launch in 2010, which Flash and Silverlight features, bla bla.... http://www.dailytech.com/Updated+SYNCSuccessor+MyFord+Touch+Announced+Gets+Browser+Texting/article17329.htm I don't know who was talking about the WiFi feature, but again. It was a promissed option they never added...we'll I guess they have it, but it doesn't do anything. I was hopeful you'd eventually be able to do wireless updates. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we get updates, in most cases, each release does get better and I'd be more then happy with it if Ford hadn't told us we'd get more. My CFO has a great saying that fits this. A 30% discount is fantastic, but if you're pomissed a 50% discount and only get 30%, then you'll never be happy. Normally I'm a supporter...just grumpy today and need the space to rant! Cheers!
  3. Sorry for the resurrection, anyone ever figure this out? May be taking the Edge to a drive in for the first time tomorrow. Not too concerned about having to start it every 30 min for 5-10 min to keep the battery happy. I'm thinking a healthy batt should be capable of running th mft for 4hrs or more and still start. I get 4-6 hrs out of my laptop batt, this can't be sucking that much out of a car batt...ummm, just remembered the sub, that would eat a bit of juice! Never tested to see if my DRL's (Canada)disable with the parking brake. Can anyone confirm? This would certainly be a show stopper...literally! Drive-ins don't like headlights for some reason :P
  4. They had to order an are replacing both the booster and master cylinder. Yet to find out why both, but I do know they were not 100% convinced it was the booster based on the test drive. Perhaps it is just cheaper to replace both then the tech time to try one and have to do the other. I'm suppose to get it back today, I'm an hour drive from where they build the Edge so I'm sure the parts will show up quickly. I hope so as I'm currently driving a metallic flouresent green Fiesta. Not quite the same...AHHHH!
  5. Thanks guys! I've just contacted my dealer to setup an appointment today if possible. Anyone know how long it takes to replace the booster...if they even have one in stock? I did the email service submission so I could list as much detail as possible. Hopefully they'll agree its the booster and have one ready...but I doubt it. Cheers!
  6. This is a fairly old post, but I'm bringing it back as thankfully Prinzll kept talking to himself and left the only post I could find that matched my issue. My brake's don't whistle, my brake pedal hisses like air is escaping but the rest seems the same. All works fine if I only use them for a quick full stop, but if I have to ride the brake, or hold it, it seems to slowly sink and require a lot of pressure to fully stop. If it is the booster, is this dangerous. Would my brakes fail, or just require more force. My next service will be in a couple of weeks, so just wondering if it can wait, or should I get it in ASAP! Thanks!
  7. Anyone with a Nokia Lumina 920 get text messaging to work? This is supposed to be the shiznit of Windows 8 phones, but when I upgraded, I lost my messaging functions on the MFT. My old Samsung Focus Windows 7/7.5 phone always had this feature. Now if you try to enable it, the MFT just states the phones bluetooth doesn't support messaging. I got the phone and did the MFT update around the same time, so I don't know if it would have worked with only one or the other. Darren it sounds like you're having the same issue with the "Message" function, but you didn't mention what phone you had. Perhaps its an issue with Windows Phone 8 in general??
  8. While looking up something else, I came across this. Even though its old, I thought I'd chime in. I just had my 80,000 KM service on my 11' Sport. I do a lot of heavy traffic highway driving, which may have added to heating up my brakes, but for whatever reason, I just had all 4 rotors replaced (warped) and new pads in the back. This was all coverd under my FMPP. The strange part is that I'm not at an interval where they change the cabin air filter, but they said it should be replaced, but that wasn't covered. I didn't fight that one as I was actually quite happy to hear they replaced all my rotors and it didn't cost me a dime...I guess I had already paid for them in the FMPP, but I got that really cheap during the "Employee Pricing". I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I think I've already broke even and I have the 120,000 or 150,000 KM FMPP so its all gravy for at least the next 40,000 KM. So for some it may not be worth it, for me it's already paid for itself.
  9. So I guess US vehicles could change one tire at a time and go for a short drive between each one...PITA, but it would work. Dingo - Ahhh...what it would be like to just own "wheels". Richy - I hear ya re: To Do List (not to mention the Honey Do List) P.S. I like the new website...well not sure how new it is, but I've not noticed it in your signature until a couple of days ago. I hope it helps rake in the biz for ya!
  10. I didn't mean their were 2 sets of sensors, just that the system remembered 2 sets of codes i.e 8 codes (winter and summer tires) instead of just 4. To me, this would make sence and does exist, but based on some peoples experience, the system seems to be able to learn brand new sensors that have not yet been programmed. This may point to the fact that it doesn't remember any sensors. Perhaps it just needs to detect 4 sensors. If we're luckly, the system is smart enough to go into learning mode when it doesn't detect any of its original 4 sensors and once it picks up 4 it keeps them until it loses connection. This would prevent picking up rogue signals. It could also be the monkeys in the wheels pressed the right button at the right time. We won't know for sure unless someone from Ford can confirm any of this. If you say you rarely were getting the warning message even without TPM installed, then it makes me concirned as to how well this system actually works. There was another user who said the were not getting errors as their summers were in the garage next to the vechile, so on startup, they may have been detected. Once the summers were moved to a back shed, they started getting the warning light. I'm assuming with your detailing, you've got your MKX in the garage close to your summers. If my comment above has any merrit, perhaps you could also have been picking up rogue codes from other vehicles. I wonder if this added to your lack of errors. I guess the only way to know for sure that they are working is to drop the pressure in one of the tires and go for a short ride.
  11. Has anyone else experienced this? I believe I've read a few posts somewhere that the odd person didn't have to setup their TPMS after putting their summer tires back on. I just had service done on the weekend and had my summers installed, but the dealer told me they couldn't reprogram the TPMS because a tech had just dropped their only reset too and that I'd have to come back during the week. They did tell me, they may retrain them automatically. I have a hard time believing some don't need retraining, while others do. This feature either exists, or it doesn't. We'll I've now driven 80+KM and have yet to get a warning light. If I would have known this, I would have just changed them myself weeks ago. Its one of those things that now since I'm not getting an error, I'm worried about how well its working, as to my understanding, it isn't supposed to be working. Do the 11'+ Edge's support 8 TPMS sensors? I've never understood why this wouldn't be standard on all TPMS vehicles in the first place. Many vehicles do support it, but from what I've read, officially the Edge isn't supposed to have this feature. What I find more confusing is that I had one of my winters go flat in my driveway just after I bought the Edge, I put one summer on just to drive to have it patched. During that 2km drive, it did show the TPMS warning. The tire had been changed before it lost much air and the vehicle wasn't even running when it was low, so it must have been an issue reading the sensor, so if this feature does work, this would make it seem like it remembers 2 sets of sensors. Unless they are used as a set, it doesn't pickup just one odd sensor. I have no clue, all of the above is just speculation, but somebody must know the facts on how the Edge is supposed to work with TPMS.
  12. I think the theories on the Canadian delay were semi correct. I noticed an "FR" written in blue marker on the lable of the package, which I'm making the assumption that these packages had to be created special for the CDN market. The software was likely fine, just some packaging / documentation changes. Has anyone in the GTA seen the "Photo Realistic" turn pics yet? I'm guessing we only have about 5-10 turns in Canada that have them, but they are really cool. DVP north to 401 East has one and the sign looks identical to the real signs, very impressed as it was even followed by a second showing to stay on the Express, highlighting the 401 express sign and showing a transparent collectors/ Victoria Park that is in the other lane, again identical to the real sign. Still yet to see a 3D building though and I think I had a few on the old version around Young/Bloor in downtown TO. So far I'm quite happy. New graffics taking a bit to get used to. I think I liked the old visuals better, but it is much faster.
  13. Yip! Finally! - Installed it on the way to work this morning, but forgot to turn off the heated seats before I started it, so I now have soup hoop. I only had 5 min with it, but already see that it didn't fix one of my issues. Since 1.8, I've had an issue where the radio station genre displayed in the 4" entertainment section doesn't match what is on the 8" and it still doesn't. For example, my main Rock station lists as "Rock" on the 8", but as "Educational" on the 4". This is not a big deal, its just an anoyance, but it was always one thing I checked for instantly after ever update. It took about 40 min as most people are saying, and I had unpaired my phone and did a Master Reset prior to the update. Good Luck with the updates everyone!
  14. Hi Bobbi! Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about the issue, but I wouldn't be too worried about it. I'm with akirby and believe its likely a defect. I haven't heard of any other windshields doing this, but I do remember a post about the rear window spontaniously shattering on at least one new Edge, I think it was still at the dealer and going though its PDI. Tempered glass is strong, but if its too snug or something hits it on the edge, excuse the pun, it will crack or shatter with ease, the glass may have had a burr or wasn't seated correctly. In the end, as long as the dealer covers it, a replacement can be done as good as new. Just make sure you get it fixed ASAP as a crack from/to the edge (I keep doing it) of your window significantly reduces the strength of the glass and even your roof in the event of a rollover. Good luck!
  15. I think the IVT support line is going to soon know me by my voice. I'm going to call them at least once a week until I get my package. What I was told today is that ALL Canadian packages have now been mailed and we should expect our packages soon. Hopefully soon is before next year so richy can replace his dealers package...hopefully nobody reads that out of context!
  16. If it makes you feel any better, I've driven more then 50,000km since I had this problem and my issue has never reoccured.
  17. So can you spin those 22's now.
  18. Hi Eatinitup, If you are going to do 5 and 6, you'd need to reverse them. Sealant comes first, then wax. To answer your questions, you can, but but don't have to put wax over a sealant, it really depends on the Sealant and what you looking to achieve. The Sealant vs. Wax item is getting to have a very thin line with newer technology. Many synthetic waxes are also considered sealants, so its best to do a lot of research on what you want to get. From experience, the deciding factor usually comes down to time vs. shine. In fact, you can get really good polish/sealants, so you could even stop at step #4. Their are a lot of pros doing just that with products like Duragloss 105. This product also can be used with a bonding agent that make it even more durable and topped with many "boosters" to extend the life and add more shine. I have other items I use on my paint, but this is what I use on my Rims. You sound like your exactly in the same mindset as I was a couple of years ago when I first looked into trying to get a more professional look and durability to my paint. I received a lot of great info and assistance on here and on Live2Detail.com. There are many people on these forums that know a lot more about this then I do, but I know exactly where you are coming from, so if you don't get other responses or have a hard time finding the info you're looking for, I'll do my best to assist further. Cheers!
  19. Hi Everyone, Just thought I'd share the email response I've just received following a disgruntled email I had sent them on Monday. I'm sure you'll get the idea of what I wrote about, but in short it was just voicing my opinion Canadians getting the short end of the sh1tty stick, with the mailing and Sync Services, or better yet, lack of Sync Services. "Thank you for your email in regards to SYNC Gen 2 – MyFordTouch Performance Upgrade. Our Canadian customers are just as valuable and important to us as any other customers. We, as a company, would love to give the Canadian customer access to the SYNC Services, as it would only help us sell more cars in that part of the world. Unfortunately certain demographic and legal reasons prevent us from implementing the SYNC Services in Canada at this time. But we're working on it, and hopefully this situation will change for the better in the near future. As for the Performance Upgrade situation for the MyFordTouch and MyLincolnTouch vehicles, the mailing of the packets containing the software update and the SD Card, has already began on April 2nd, 2012. The mailing process will continue for the next couple of weeks. I apologize for the delay, and thank you for your patience. Please feel free to phone us directly, with any questions that you may have about the Performance Upgrade release for Canada, at the following phone number. Dial 888-270-1055 for the IVT (In-Vehicle Technology) Support Center. We are open from Monday - Saturday, 8:30 am - 10 pm, Eastern Time. Sundays 11:30 am until 10:00 pm. Any agent that answers the phone will be able to assist you." To add to the email info, I called the IVT support center again yesterday and was told the same date as above...not like last time. They also told me that I hadn't been mailed yet. They don't know when it will be, only the same "next couple of weeks". They only can only tell once it is mailed as the system gets updated that your mailing date.
  20. I had typed up a big post for this thread before, but I think I got side tracked and didn't submit. Oh Well!! I didn't know it was a TSB now and had asked my dealer about one tire leaking. I was told it wasn't an item covered under warranty, they were coming off for Winter so I didn't peruse it at the time, but I've just had the one tire redone at a tire shop. They put bead sealer on it this time, which is supposed to significantly aid in preventing future leaks and rim corrosion. It just looks like a black silicone/rubber type substance that was painted on the rim bead. Has anyone else used this stuff? I don't see a negative aspect to it, but I'm surprised that Ford isn't just doing this to fix the leaks. Perhaps I'm missing something. Now that I know there is a TSB, I may bring it up again. It wasn't much, but I paid out of my pocked for this fix and I shouldn't have. It may have been worth it though. If it fixes my issue, then it will save me a lot of the hassle some of you guys are having. I guess time and/or your comments will tell if this is a good fix.
  21. Bazinga! You've just been pwned by c_bova! Nice one! See, facts, they are the important part. Feirstein - apparently you just asked the wrong person/people. "Ford" knows the color code, whomever you were asking didn't. Maybe you should be hate'n on your dealer, not Ford. After that last post, its obvious Akirby saw something I didn't. My apologies Akirby, now I think you weren't hard enough, I'd say bring it on, but that goes against my first post. The color code issue has been answered. IMHO, c_bova has just closed this thread!
  22. Alright Boys...settle down! I honestly see both sides of this one. However I still lean more to Akirby's side. Understandably Feirstein was pissed to find out it was painted and how easily it could be damaged. This is one of the main reasons I stick with Black. Its usually always the base and not painted. Saying ford didn't have a code but had the name appears to be a good thing to me. I think this is a case where I'd just say its crappy that it was painted and you damaged it unknowingly and right it off as you know better for next time. Why I'm more on Akirby's side, is I use forums for info. I want to gain knowledge on a subject. If a forum sticks to the facts, then I'm fine. When you slag Ford (or whoever) for something that, as pointed out, many if not most other manufactures do as well, then the thread starts to lose its value to the other members. As a Moderator, Akirby is just trying to do his job. I do think you may have been a bit jumpy on this one though, but only by a bit. Likely due to so much Ford bashing lately over the MFT crap!! I thought the same things when reading the initial post, I just didn't say it ;-) As the saying goes - "Its not about what you say, its how you say it!" Cheers!
  23. Cool link, but that's just wack! My 11' has: 11A03 - SYNC WITH MYFORD/MYLINCOLN TOUCH - PERFORMANCE UPGRADE 12M01 - RRANTY EXTENSION How can I possibly be a later build then a 12' model?
  24. Nothing here yet! It appears a few of us have been getting different mailing dates from Ford. I've just called the hotline and was told Canadian mailings started on March 19th and are being mailed out of the US, regular mail, which explains some of the delay. Something has to start landing soon. I called as I'm an early run 2011 Sport (Bought Sept 10'), so I thought I may not be listed for a mailing and they'd make me do the dealer update, however I'm on the mailing list.
