  1. Here is what my work order lists: Cause: 17179 INCORRECT SOLENOID BODY STRATEGY DATA STORED IN PCM 7000F=1.5, 7000AZB=0.5 200 VERIFIED ERRATIC SHIFT WITH SCAN TOOL DURING MONITOR TEST. THERE ARE NO SSM/TSB IN OASIS FOR THIS MODEL. FOLLOWED PROCEDURE IN WSM DIAG BY SYMPTOM RTN 212. CLEARED SOLENOID BODY ADAPTIVE SHIFT TABLES. PERFORM ADAPTIVE SHIFT STRATEGY. WB(42)7Z369. 2.0HRS. I'm up to about 1000KM now with a lot of heavy traffic and no invisible vehicles have hit me yet. Good luck with your service!
  2. Had my Sport in for service on Thursday and this was on the list. They knew exactly what I was talking about and told me it was bad programming for a solenoid. They put my computer back in "learning mode" and stated this should correct the issue. I don't have my work order with me, but it even stated that they could confirm by reviewing the programing that it was bad. Not sure if this solenoid is related to the PTU or Transmission. I'll pull my work order and if it has more details, I'll post them. I have noticed a significant difference in my shifting, it is a lot faster. This may just be due to the "learning mode", but I'd assume it would have picked up enough data by now to settle in. I've done close 500KM since Thursday and no signs of the issue...yet. One thing to note is based on KLC's comments "At least with the lesser speed transmissions you couldn't feel the transmission shifting." This was one of the first things, I noticed when leaving the dealership on Thursday. I wasn't feeling the shift points, they were smooth, before there was a shift lag and they were a lot more obvious. I just hope it lasts!
  3. I have that as well, but only after it rains and freezes. I think it is ice under the edges of the glass. I don't get it any other time.
  4. It looks like I'm bleeding edge now I just had service on Thursday and I'm now running MFT 2.7. It is a LOT faster then before, but I'm coming from 1.8. I waited until a standard service and until all of you beta tested :yup: to get everything taken care of. What I've noticed so far: Sync Services are enabled for Canada, I don't think we can do anything with it, but I can connect and listen to their demo. Haven't tested anything as I didn't know how to use it, it said I had to sign up on line, but I've got everything configured that I can do for Canada. Lost phone pairing with my BB 9000 for the first time ever just this morning. It was the first remote start I've done since the update, so this may be related. When using voice commands for NAV, when complete, it then turned my AM radio on. Only happened once/twice that I remember, but haven't really tested further to see if this issue still exists. Voice commands seem to work better. It now accepts "navigation destination POI", before it would only use "...Point of Interest". Fonts for some items are too big i.e. Climate temp gets cut off on passenger side and overlaps heated seat on driver side. Everything seems a bit clearer. Perhaps related to the font change above. NAV doesn't appear to dropout as it did before, where for no reason it would lose its link and have to recalculate where you were...this always seemed to happen just before an important turn. I'm glad to see that on gone. Generally much more responsive. I didn't lose my SAT radio presets, but everything else was cleared. I thought the radio would be the first to go. It makes me wonder if the update was done right. Possibly they are stored int he SAT radio module and not on the MFT. I didn't think to check my AM/FM stations. I think that is it so far, I'll let you guys know if I notice anything else. I haven't spent much time just playing with it, I've only just setup my phone and then normal usage. Cheers!
  5. Is it the same sound when you turn on accessory mode? I get this as well. I asked the dealer service adviser about it and he told me its just some "modules" getting power. I don't think its a big deal, but I'm going to keep an ear on it. Mine rarely stays on, but when it has, its off in less then 5 min.
  6. It looks awesome, but I don't think I'm willing to pay the coin to get those Brembos. I think I may just upgrade my pads and paint the calipers. I believe I will do the hitch though! Glad to see someone else tried it first and I know it works. What did you mean by "The hitch required the right angle to be cut off"? Thanks!
  7. I got i! I purchased it during "Employee Pricing" which included the plans. I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I worked it out and it wasn't too bad of a deal when I got it. You get a discount on it when you get extended warranty with it. I bought both to 120 or 160KM...don't remember that either. All I remember is that one brake job and regular maintenance would cover it. Anything above this and I saved money. Now I'm regretting it though as I'm thinking of going ceramic and drilled slotted rotors :shades:

    Clunky "lazy" Shifts

I'm glad I got the extended warranty right off the bat! For me it certainly isn't related to a cold transmission, its happened 30min+ into driving. I've had it a lot more then 3 times, but likely only 3-4 really kicked. I've felt a few softer ones that I know if I was accelerating a bit more it would have been more harsh. I've only noticed the issue in heavy traffic. There are some other updates in the 2011 Edge/MKX section.
  9. Based on the details for the TSB, this doesn't apply to us, only 2010's built on a certain date range. The description sounds similar, but I'm not lurching into intersections...yet! I'm still going to point the TSB out to the dealership. Have you? Did you get anywhere with this yet. I'm going in this week for my second service and will be listing this and an MFT update as items as well.
  10. Sorry, just noticed your post - I posted an item on this back in November...I think. I had the exact same issue. Only once and never again. For me I had been driving about 100km. Pulled into a store parking lot, waited 5-10sec, backed out, moved about 3ft and stalled. Same messages. No idea! There is another member that had a similar issue. I'm over 16000KM now and it only happened once.
  11. Just to clarify, they don't say its permanent, I do, I guess the better way to put it is "semi-permanent" They state it has a 2 year lifespan. It does eventually wear out, but from what I'm reading, it can't be removed if you don't like it. It bonds to the paint, unlike most waxes/sealants, you can take them off with other chemicals. This does not come off that way. I'm wondering if this would effect any other touch up work if required. I'm with ya akirby! I think I'll stick with the tried and true stuff for now as the jury is still out on this stuff.
  12. Anyone else use this product? It's now on eshine.ca. It was funny that found it there, started looking for some reviews and then found it on our forum :shades: Too Cool! This stuff is made with Si02 (Silica) which is the primary ingredient to glass. In essence, this stuff makes a thin glass coating over your paint. It sounds great, but it is a permanent application. It only comes off with abrasion. Your paint must be perfect before you apply it, or you're stuck with the flaws underneath. I've bought all kinds of crap over the years and can fill a large box with all of the waxes I've purchased. I'm tempted to give this a go, but not sure yet. It's too new of a product for any other reviews to exist and to know the long term quality.
  13. +1 I couldn't agree more. The sales guys know what's told to them and what's in the brochure...if your lucky! Especially with new technology such as this, there are too many other exciting options for them to catch on to what isn't available. I had to prove my sales guy wrong on several items when I was in discussions with him. If you did your homework before buying, there was info available that stated these services were not available in Canada. I think its sh!tty that they aren't, but I can't complain too much as I knew about it when I bought my Edge. I'm just crossing my fingers that this changes as the MFT becomes more popular and gets installed in more vehicles.
  14. There are a few things inside the door that may be getting wet. You likely don't have a good seal between your door and window. I've noticed a few times that it looked like I had water coming out of that exact spot. I had my Edge Rustproofed with the oil spray just a couple of weeks after I picked it up, so I don't see any rust, but may have if I didn't do that. The rust could be coming from your speakers. I've seen speakers in older cars that were almost rotted through they had rusted so bad! I would worry more about the rust then the potential rattle. Take those doors apart to verify what it is. It may be nothing. Perhaps even iron dust that ran down the windows into the door and it has nothing to do with the Edge. You'll never know until you take a look.
  15. Here is a link that describes what they look like and what they are for. http://www.justforwheels.com/index.jsp?cat=hubcentric&sub=how&track=GCR
  16. Yes, there's comfort in numbers! I posted a comment on this a few months back, but no really feedback. Now I know I'm not the only one. I'm not a big fan of the Manual on the SPORT. Its great fun having the paddles, but I want the shift on the stick as well. You can't use the paddles and shift though a turn like you can if its on the stick. They do work well for passing and just fun takeoffs. My old Rogue had both which was great! I'm up for my next service in a couple of weeks. I'll be bringing this up again at that point. I'll update this topic on what happens.
  17. I had to replace the batt for my old Mazda after only 2.5 years. It still worked, but it was definitely on its way out. If I locked, unlocked went to relock, I had to wait 10 sec or so as the batt was getting drained. (You know the "dam I forgot something in the car") remote sequence. As already mentioned though, were covered for it. As in my case, you'll generally have a heads up that its on it way out anyway. Lithium coin cells have a fairly good shelf life though, so you're not hurting anything by having a spare around.
  18. Hi Wilsons, I've had the exact same thing happen a few times. It doesn't seem to ever happen during reasonably aggressive driving, its always just after slowing down or cruising at a lower speed. When you smoothly go to speed up...WHAM! The first time I had it in the shop, I brought this up. Being early in Dec, the first answer was they heard a big software update was coming and it may included updates for shifting. We all know this wasn't the case, but I haven't had it back in since. It has happened enough times now that I also know its not in the transmission. As you mentioned, it is in the rear end, I think it may have something to do with the bias from FWD and engaging AWD. Transfer case ?? I've also noticed the unpredictable throttle at times as well. It never responds well to putting your foot to the floor, but I haven't found any pattern to this yet, only too much gas = slow response. It doesn't explain why it seems extra peppy at at times. I want it like that all the time.
  19. Are they? I thought the pre 2010's have a larger hub then the 11's. I know you can do the reverse, but is the hub size on the sport wheels big enough to fit over the 07' hub without drilling it out? If so, then this means the rims are not hub centric on the 11's. I have them, but never checked. I have my winters on now, so I can measure the Inner Diameter of the rim hub if anyone needs it.
  20. I don't know if the MFT can read audio CD's with CD-TEXT, even if its on the CD. I believe everything is pulled from the GraceNote database, its likely just that the CD isn't in the database. Try some standard well known CD a year or 2 old and see what happens.
  21. Very nice!! I'm quite partial to it as its identical to mine :shades: I went with Formula 1 Ceramic tint,15% front, 7% back (20% factory x 35% added).
  22. This is an averaged calculation. I don't know the exact distance it uses in total, it may be in the manual, but if you're still on the same tank, you've likely just not done any long haul highway driving to better your averages and the MFT update would have wiped out the old data so your starting from scratch. It has to build a database again to calculate this from. What you are seeing is likely just your average full economy since you updated your MFT. It is entirely possible they messed up the calculations, or perhaps they were wrong before and fixed it in the new update, but this update doesn't effect your fuel consumption in any way. I'd ride it for a while and report back what happens. I'm 90% sure it just needs to build your averages again. I've reset mine a few times when I know I'm doing a lot of good highway driving vs a lot of city driving. There are huge differences. My highway stats go out the window once I've been stuck in traffic for a few days. Not to mention short hauls with a cold engine will do it as well. MPG goes down in the winter because of this.
  23. I haven't had the update done yet, but the service guys at Formula Ford in Pickering seem good and are certainly friendly. I've only been in once for for a regular service, but had some issues with my winter tire swap (not Ford related) and they were very helpful. I also had a good laugh with them as they were trying to program my TPMS as mine was the first push button start they had to figure out the "key cycle" for to get it into programing mode. I spoke with their sync guy who, at that point still didn't have his cable yet, but that was about 3 weeks ago. He told me about some nightmares updating the older sync systems, so it did seem like he knew a bit, but not sure to what extent on the new MFT. To be honest though, due to some of the issues other people have had, I'd try to stay local so you can easily go back if you need to. If you don't like where you bought the Edge, try the next closest to you. I'd just pop in and ask to talk to their service guy about the sync update. See what vibes you get! I just wish they'd make it available to users. I certainly would feel more comfortable doing it myself.
  24. I've seen the same thing and I live about 100KM from the plant these are built in. My dealer had it in inventory and my sales guy even went to check to see if it was on the lot. It was almost a week listed in transit. They must have pushed it to the dealer. It was already on route when I signed for it. I had my Edge 3 days later. It wasn't exactly like what I would have ordered. It was the only one on route not spoken for, so I had to take the one with everything! :happy feet: This is why your dealer doesn't have a more precise day when it will arrive. I'm sure there is a way for them to find out, but the standard details they get or at least the sales agents get, don't have that info. Where are you located? It is being shipped from Oakville, Ontario up here in Canada I can't imagine having to wait all that time, but it'll be worth it! I love my 11' Edge Sport! I'm sure you will too!
  25. Saying it as an absolute "no" UV or heat reduction, is incorrect, however it is nowhere near what GOOD tint will give you. His analogy regarding cheap sunglasses is fairly accurate. To be honest, I don't know why. I guess its just smoked glass and doesn't have UV coatings like good sunglasses? Automakers should start doing this. You'll notice its always called "Privacy Glass", but never mentions any heat or UV properties. I'm sure there is some, but I think if it was significant enough, they'd list it as a plus somewhere. If you get even high quality dyed film, it will also have little to no heat reduction, but can have great UV protection. You need to get a higher quality metalized film, or better yet, a ceramic film to block heat. With the ceramic film, it was night and day to high end dyed film. I've had both and you notice it a lot. As far as looks go, there isn't much difference, if you stay with the same style, ceramic is a bit more reflective. Where I purchased my tint, they had a demo heat lamp, where you could slide in glass with different tints. I it was a very significant difference. I used Formula 1, "Pinnacle" in 2 cars which is ceramic. I've had "classic" in my last car as it was a lot cheaper, but decided to go back to "Pinnacle" in the Edge as I noticed a large heat difference and that was one of my major reasons for tint. All I know is on a 30C sunny day, I barely feel the suns heat coming in my side windows! To answer your main question though, I did 15% front, 35% rear. With the rear already being approx 20% and covered with 35%, I now have approx. 7% light transmission in the back :shades: My kids love to make faces at me when I pump gas as I can't see them at all. Here is a good link to see the differences in the Formula 1 tint, if you check out the rest of their website, it has a lot of very useful info. Note that you can get clear UV shield if you want, but it doesn't have much heat blocking. Formula One Tint Update: I've tried researching some info on "factory tint" and it appears that even normal clear glass blocks a lot of UVA, but standard factory tint doesn't have many properties to block UVB rays. I've also found that UV rated glass should have a stamp on it somewhere, I'll take a look at the Edge to see if I can find any markings. Some higher end vehicles have this, but I don't think we do.
