  1. How big was the update? How long did it take? I don't have it listed on syncmyride.
  2. I've been able to come up with 63.36mm. My dealership couldn't find it in any specs, so we measured it with a caliper to be 63.29mm, but looking for hub rings showed 63.36mm as the closest option. The best I could get was actually 63.9, which are very slightly too big (around .5 mm), so I think that validates the 63.36mm. If not, its certainly within .25mm and isn't a hub size listed for anything else I could find.
  3. OK for the big update - I'll try to keep it as short as possible. I received the entire order in less then a week! Woo Hoo! I had my first maintenance scheduled the next week so I waited until then to have the tires put on. The dealer was hesitant to install them as the rings were not even close! A) 2011 Hub size is 63.36mm. I was sent 70.2 (Hub size was determined with a caliper to be 63.29, using a margin of error and the closest ring size online I could find I came to 63.36 to be the actual hub size) B)Rim hub OD from Factory Spec found on website was 74.1mm, I was sent 72.2mm So in short, it didn't fit! I had the dealer put them on with no rings anyway, but there was some vibration around 120km/h. So after some restrained discussions with Tire rack, I was sent replacements and was told they would reimburse me for any "reinstall" costs...it arrived a week later..yes it! I received a package with 1 ring. Following some less restrained discussions with Tire rack, I was sent 4 replacements this time. The closest rings they had were 74-63.9. They assured me this would be acceptable and that my measurements were likely off and this ring is the correct one. Yes the rings were acceptable, but not perfect. Balance is better then before, very little vibration even up to 140km/h. OD exact! Hub (ID) was a bit big as I thought, I still believe 63.36mm to be the right size, 63.9mm was a tiny bit loose. Answer to my initial question regarding sensors, is that they were the correct ones and were proven to work fine after I had the tires on for about a week, and on New Years Day, I ran over a box cutter blade somewhere. GRRR! Luckily I heard the air coming out just after parking in my driveway, so I quickly put one of my 22's back on. I had to wait a couple of days for a shop to open to take a look at the tire. First time I drove it 2 days later with the now flat tire in the trunk, my TPMS came on as soon as I started the car...so at least I know my sensors work. Upon dismounting and looking at the tire, the shop said it wasn't that bad on the inside and did a plug/patch. All appears to be fine now after 2 full days, so I think I'm clear. (This is also when I put the rings on) It appears I may have pioneered the way to new winter rims on a 2011 Edge sport on tire rack. Not to mention finding the rim spec error! During the order there is no time when they tell you what ring size is correct, only that they send the appropriate rings for the application. I'd insist they tell you, so you know what you're getting. I'd assume 63.36mm would apply to all 2011's, but not sure! So following much drinking...not in the car! I'm calm again. Lets hope it lasts.
  4. I can hear a tick with the hood open, but I can barely hear when it is closed and certainly not from inside. Can you hear it from inside? Vibrations - I was rock solid with the 22's, but I've got non hub centric winters on now, with no centering rings (a long long story) and I'm getting some vibration now, but not too bad, only at 120km/h or above. Trying 2 different sets of tires/rims and still getting a vibration makes it less likely to be a balance issue, but still possible. As you mentioned, I'd just bring it in and see what Ford has to say. They may just want to take your original rims and try re balancing them. If they are already good, then it leans more to an alignment issue.
  5. I had exactly the same issue. Anything under 72 was too cold and 72 was too hot. I found early on that it appeared to be related to the external temp. When it was within 5-10 deg of 72 outside, it didn't seem to be able to regulate it right. I'm not sure if this was correct as it quickly went to freezing or below after I got the Edge so I didn't have a lot of time to test this theory. My "Auto" setting now seems to work quite well when set to whatever temp I ask it to. I'm wondering if the thermal resistor had to get "broken in". I did not change a thing. It just started working better. I'll retest my external ambient temp theory in the spring. Before I had to adjust my temp every 5 min, now I haven't touched it in weeks.
  6. Yea, that TSB scares me! I laughed when I read they may even have to update windows drivers, not to mention a software update that requires a battery charger! No wonder why the first few updates are taking dealers hours/days. Many of them have to update their own systems prior to updating the MFT. I'd love to get my hands on the other "required" reading materials, actually I'd prefer to get my hands on all of the required software and do it myself...well, I guess I'd still need the "required" reading materials then.
  7. When you look at pic's, it makes the Edge look small when there is nothing to compare it to, but I love my 22's :shades: I did get a set of 18's for the winter though to keep my 22's pretty, but now I'm lovin my new 18's, their pretty too, but don't hug the road like the bigguns.
  8. I had my first change last week @ 8000KM. I had asked my sales rep if I needed to bring it in early for the break in and he told me yes @ 5000KM. When I brought it in at that time, the service adviser told me it was a waste of time and that it didn't need anything until 8k. He said he'd do it if I wanted and then noticed I had the Ford Service plan and told me Ford won't even let them change the oil at less then 8K intervals. I have the extended warranty and service to 6 years/160,000 KM. With this combo, I'm sure Ford would want to ensure its done by the book to keep them from costly repairs. The service guy also told me Ford puts in a "break in" oil at the factory, so nothing special other then correct driving technique is required. Just get your regular interval oil change. Not sure who's right, but that is what they told me. I also had my winters put on...more on that coming soon in another thread, but related to the service part, it was funny that it took them 30 min to figure out how to program the TPMS as my Edge was the first push button start they've had to program and they didn't know how to cycle the key. Great guys though!
  9. I picked up a full winter package from Tirerack, 18's and Blizzaks. Very similar to many users here as you can see from whiteis33's response. Not on yet, I just had them delivered last night.
  10. Yea, I've had it out a few times in the snow. They have fairly good traction when moving forward and I didn't see much wheel spin in areas where others couldn't make it up the hill. I did notice a lot of ABS kicking in when stopping though, they would slide quite a bit. I've had much worse, but I'm putting snows on next week! I often travel through Southern Ontario's "snow belt", so there is no substitution for real show tires, all seasons don't come close, I don't care what tire you have!
  11. We're all have our fingers crossed! Let us know what you're opinion is and if its has anything new, like the browser we were supposed to get
  12. I was actually impressed with the 22's as well. But I did notice, it "goes" well, but didn't stop nearly as well as good snows will, the ABS was kicking in a lot. Just completed my Tirerack purchase today, so I should have my snows on by next weekend.
  13. You are correct! +10 points! Just spoke to Damon Witters ext 643 - I'm listing him as he was a great guy to deal with. Perhaps they all are???, but as busy as they are this time of year, he spent 10 min on the phone with me to ensure everything was the correct fitment. He couldn't explain why the TPMS was so much more, but could state they are the right ones, he has 2 different parts listed for the 07-10 Edge and the 2011. He even told me they are big enough that they have a "TPMS Guy" That is all he does and maintains a database of what works and what doesn't and keeps them in stock with what the need. I wonder if he has to to TPS reports?
  14. Are you stalking me...cause that would be super! (10 points if you can name the movie!) That's my problem. I've called them 5 times and its busy! Will try again shortly. I like your sly nature, you think like me. :shades: The price is an issue as well, but isn't what I'm concerned about, it is just what raised the flag. Normally you can't compare prices this way as the dealer is more expensive, so the fact that the Tirerack is over $100 bucks more instantly made me think something was wrong!
  15. Has anyone ordered wheels from Tirerack.com with the TPMS? They are quoting $292USD for the 315mhz sensors, but Ford Canada has them for $180CAD. I was told by the dealer that the old band sensors Pre 2011 were over $300, so I'm thinking Tirerack isn't including the correct ones. Did anyone get these...did they work? I still save money in total, but I don't want to get them and find out they weren't the right ones.
  16. Hey!! I get it! No need to beat me over the head How do you know I'm not just keeping this tread going to see if I can get you to write any longer posts then the previous ones. I think this is a case of agreeing to disagree that we kind of agree, just not to the same extent. I think I am saying the same thing as you, just stating I don't think it is as bad as you think it is. For me "Partial AUTO" works fine and does maintain my temp as I ask it to, depending on the outside temp, i find it can be more accurate. I've been giving "FULL AUTO" a chance and as a few other posters have stated, I have to go a few degrees higher for it to keep me warm, but I like the way it works. :stop: - Before you send me the CAD drawings, schematic and the full volume set from E to C on the ETAC! I agree the "FULL AUTO" is designed to maintain the temp more accurately then "PARTIAL AUTO", but "PARTIAL AUTO" DOES work too as long as you don't have stupid settings. Try it, you'll see! :yup: I use it all the time and it gives me the Goldilocks Edge (not too hot, not too cold, but just right!...and maintains it!) I do a min of 100KM a day, almost 8000KM in 2 months using PARTIAL AUTO for most of it, so I know PARTIAL AUTO works. P.S. Sorry choff1138 for stealing your Bazinga! Its just love that word. I actually used it once on a heated conference call with Verizon regarding a issue with a 10Mb fiber link they have in our NY office when they were trying to feed us crap and I proved them wrong using their own analogy. Our NY tech told me later he had to put his phone on mute as he spit coffee all over his computer, he loves BBT as well and couldn't believe I'd say that! After that he sent me up a Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock mug. My Favorite Quote! Sheldon: Why are you crying? Penny: Because I'm stupid! Sheldon: That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.
  17. I'm fairly sure A1 is the latest. I have that as well. I can't see them releasing a new one since its only been available a few months. My street is listed, but I have found many that are not. It's strange as it has some updates to old streets though. A street near me just had roundabouts installed in the summer of 09" and these are on it, but some 3+ year old streets are not even listed.
  18. Hi BBF2530, WOW! You rock! As I mentioned before, this is why I love this forum as people genuinely try and help everyone out. I don't think I've ever has someone type so much in any forum to me before. But I have one comment... "3 - "With the Mytouch, I have the ability to have the fan on AUTO, while still manually controlling the vents." - No, you are mistaken..." Then why if I go to full auto and then change my vent, does it still say "AUTO" above my FAN unless I press the fan button as well? Note: Pics went in out of order! FAN1.jpg - Full Auto FAN2.jpg - Vent Manual, Fan Auto FAN3.jpg - All Manual Bazinga!
  19. Hi BBF2530, Thanks for you detailed replys! To answer your question, I have the 2011 Edge Sport w/ Mytouch, which leads into the service comment. The answers I'm getting from my dealer are that most of my issues will likely be addressed in the infamous update many of us are waiting on. I'm in IT, so I completely understand the software side of things and agree that they are likely right and may spend hours trying to chase an issue they can't resolve without the update. They have my issue list so, at least its logged at this point. If it was not working at all, I'd make a bigger stink about it, but I can make it a sauna if I want, just not with the DEF on and set to a normal temp. I think we agree that If I use full 'AUTO" and my internal temp doesn't reach what I set it to, then something is wrong. I do think we have a disconnect on how the system does or should work. You sound like you know a lot about the Edge and the ETAC and from that I certainly would not take my theory over you knowledge, but I'm looking at the climate control in the same way as a basic heating unit. If you set a home heater to 72, but set the fan low, it will take a lot longer to reach 72 and may not get there, but will keep trying. The air isn't blowing 72, it blows "hot" air, what temp is irrelevant as long as it is above ambient temp and can out put it in a large enough volume, to heat the air faster then the air will cool. (thus your comment on if it blows 72, it will never heat up to 72 if the outside air is 32), but if designed correctly, it should never be blowing 72 when I set 72, it should be more like 80. With the Mytouch, I have the ability to have the fan on AUTO, while still manually controlling the vents. I don't see why using it this way should SIGNIFICANTLY effect the Climate controls ability to reach the correct temp, or as I understand you are stating, disable the validity of the temp setting. Again, this is just based on theory! You seem to know the unit inside and out so, but I don't see anything in the manual that would make me think otherwise, and to me, it wouldn't make sense if it did. Also if this wasn't the case, what would the AUTO fan run based on? The fan speeds up or slows down depending on the ambient temp...doesn't it? Perhaps the ETAC doesn't do this, but that just seems like poor designing then. Again the above is all theory and how I think it should work, not saying it does do this, but I would be surprised if it didn't.
  20. You guys all seem to be having great luck with AUTO, so I tried it again this morning and even set it prior to shutting the Edge off last night. NO GO! It functioned exactly as you said and the way I understand it as well, except it didn't get hot. It appeared to use the DEF/Floor setting for most of the 30 min trip in 32F. I had it set to 72F and my wife and I were cold, again, I don't think it got above 65F. What I normally do is hit AUTO, then control the location, but don't touch the FAN, leaving the FAN on AUTO. I believe this should do the same thing as the FAN does speed up and slow down once the truck gets warm, so this must also control the inside temp by blowing more hot air if needed as in the morning, even with this setting, the air is way above 72F until it warms up. If I use the Floor or the main Vent settings I'm find and I get to my nice 72F. I've read the entire manual and have just reread the HVAC section now to ensure I didn't miss anything, I couldn't find anything in the manual that stated that the air will only come out at 72F if you set it to 72F. Even when nothing is on auto, it will blow hot (well above 72) air if needs to bring up the temp considerably. This is easy to test. On a cold day, once your engine warms up, override your fan to low. You will feel air is as hot as it will get, but it won't blow enough to get the inside warm. Alternatively, if your inside temp is almost warm, crank you fan all the way up. You'll feel the air temp come down a bit once it reaches its set temp. This one is harder to notice. I believe as long as you don't touch the FAN speed, the temp setting should work. I completely understand that if you touch the fan and its not high enough, then you'll never get the inside warm. But on the same note, I've tested having the fan on high and the air temp changes as well. So no matter what setting you have it on, it will try to get the inside temp as close as it can to the set temp. If you have the fan set to an extreme, or all floor or all def, then your right, it will take a while, if it ever gets you to the temp you asked it to, but it will try. My issue is ONLY when the system uses the DEF or DEF/Floor, no matter if it is AUTO, AUTO fan, or full manual. I've tested this thing every which way but loose! I'm sure I could write the manual on it by now, but with these settings, it no worky!...too cold. My heated seats don't turn on with the remote start either, so this may all be related, perhaps my temp calibration is all F'd up, or I have a bad sensor somewhere. I've also tried researching the 72F theory as Ford's correct setting. The manual only point to 72F during the remote start. Your climate control is not on yet so it uses this as the base temp and heats or cools to this point based on the current ambient temp. Once you go to a full start, 72F is irrelevant as it is now controlled by your previous climate control settings and in theory, your interior temp should adjust exactly to that temp pending it can based on your other settings. i.e. low or off fan. P.S. I love this forum! I had a Rogue before and the forum sucked, first off, there was 1 post a day and those who did post, shouldn't have. This group is much more knowledgeable and in most cases, if its on the forum its worth reading. I've only had an Edge for 2 months, and I have learned a lot from everyone. I guess the Edge has more of an enthusiast following. Cheers to all who post! :beerchug:
  21. I haven't put a second thermometer in the car to verify, but I can guarantee that if it is around 60F outside and I have my temp set to 72F, while using the defrost, the internal temp will not be 72! It will be more like 65 or less. This is 20-30 min driving so everything has had plenty of time to warm up. As soon as I switch over to the standard vents, it gets nice and toasty! There seems to be an outside temp range where the Def doesn't add enough heat to meet the internal temp setting. I've driven 20 min like this and had frozen feet and hands by the time I got home.
  22. I notice exactly the same issue with the defrost. I know with Def ON, most vehicles will only take air from outside as it is too hard to remove all of the moisture from inside air. This may be the issue. I find it only noticeable when the temp isn't that cold outside i.e 15C / 60F, the heater doesn't warm up the outside air as much as it does if you have any other setting enabled, likely these setting are using more internal air and it doesn't take much to heat them up, thus the defrost setting is colder, even when you have it set to Def and Floor. If its very cold, the heater turns up and is warming the air enough that it doesn't come our cold anymore, although still not as warm as the other settings. All of the above, it just a theory, but I've been testing this out and it seems to be valid, not sure on my reasoning, but the results are always the same. This is another thing Ford needs to review in the computer.
  23. This part scares me, are you telling me that only after 15-20 min it was telling you your battery was low? No wonder Edgieguy's batt died! So I guess the Edge isn't Drive-in movie compatible, without starting your car every 15 min?
  24. I've just spoken to the Sync support at Ford Canada. They are well aware of all of the issues. They stated Ford is working to resolve all of the issues, however they are not aware of any recent updates, nor do they have an ETA. All they did was take my details down, with a list of my issues and said they would call me when an update was released. So I think this confirms that no magic update exists yet. P.S. wilsons66604 - I love the new avatar, you should get the real plate!
  25. You don't have to worry about this on the 11' Sport. Manual shifting isn't on the stick, its paddle shifters on the wheel.
