  1. Hey Richy, No ONR yet, I have to keep a low profile on the detailing supplies for a while, I've already spent over $500 in the past 2 months, the DA was a big expense. The wife will leave me if I bring another box home. I've got a reasonably good bug scrubber, it's one of those MF one side, nylon scrubbers on the other. I find as long as you're gentle with it and have enough soap for lube, its scratch free. If I remember right, it was just a dollar store special. It was 3M "Scratch Free" branded. It certainly got good use on my grill before I CQ'd it. Since I've done the front end last weekend, so far, just water and an MF seem to be working....loving it!! I haven't touched it with soap yet. So do you avoid Bug soaps and APC on the CQ?
  2. Thanks!! I've got the tranny bump / Klunk whatever you want to call it issue, its going in on Monday for the TSB. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't another issue with something in the powertrain. The act of rolling the 4" and bouncing off of the "stick in the spokes"...is that hard on the tranny, or is it built for that?
  3. Hey Richy, I just saw this old post and was interested as I'm about to do a 4000KM drive through the eastern US down to Nova Scotia. I'm sure I'll collect several million splat marks from this one... I'm just wondering if you still use the ZC 4:1 with the CQ? If so, does effect the coating in any way and how well does the CQ help keep the bugs from sticking. I'll also be doing a good coat of ReLoad before I go as well. In fact that will likely come with me. Thanks, G
  4. On anything steep, I always do, but I've been in parking lots that have a tilt to a drain or something and it will roll, or even my driveway, which is only about a 5deg incline. I may just start using it all of the time to get used it. Just wondering if that 4"+ roll is normal. It does make sense that the bigger tires will allow for more lateral movement, I just didn't think it would be that much.
  5. My Edge seems to have a lot of roll when you put the car in park on a slight incline. More so then any other car I've had. I'm guessing its moved 4" or more after putting it in park and taking my foot off the break. This can't be good on the tranny...or is the tranny the cause?
  6. This describes exactly my issue with my 11' Sport. What confuses me is why does this only effect some vehicles? Is it really on all of them, but only shows up depending on your driving style? I drive in heavy traffic a lot which is the equivalent to the "rolling stop" scenario described in the TSB and would explain what I see it. I've already had it reprogrammed, which seemed to help for a little while, but it eventually came back. Anyone know of any potential side effects that this would create that may not show up until later on? Thank you very much for passing this on!! I have a big road trip coming up at the end of the month, I'm just debating if I want my tranny messed with just before I go, or if I should ensure its done first.
  7. Live2Detail.com is highly recommended!!!! Richy introduced me to it a few months ago and I think I'm on that forum more then this one now. There is all kinds of great information and a great group of people. You may need to spend a few bucks on the new stuff that gets recommended to you, but its well worth it. Thanks again Richy!! and my Edge thanks you too
  8. Perhaps torque steer is for some, but its already been pointed out that there is a TSB for this issue that has recently been updated for the 2011. In fact, I think there is a special one just for the Sport with the 22"s. Those big fattys tend to amplify any minor alignment issue. I just had mine done a couple of weeks ago and its much better now. My steering wheel wasn't even lined up. I was 2-5deg off to the right, even though I was fighting the wheel from going even further right, but not from torque. **Note** If you think you have this issue in an 11' get it reviewed ASAP!, I know in Canada, alignment is only covered for the first 20-25K (don't remember exactly), don't know what the US has. Even though its a TSB, it is only covered under the alignment warranty. I was over by 3K I think and had to fight about it. The service adviser was really good about thought. As soon as he saw I was pissed, he started looking for a way around it. I think since my steering wheel was off as well, he could put it under a different category, I didn't care, as long as I didn't have to pay for it. They did a 4 wheel alignment and adjusted a few items based on the TSB. I wouldn't say its perfect now, but much better then before and the steering actually feels lighter, I guess since I'm not fighting it since its balanced correctly. Someone else mentioned air pressure, I notice that big time with the 22's. I've played with that a little and I'm getting to the point where I can even tell what tire is low based on what the steering wheel is doing. I generally ride a pound or 2 high, which makes low tires even more obvious.
  9. :P No worries! I do that with numbers all of the time. I've reviewed the specs, but to be honest, I didn't even compare them. Its just logic that in a vehicle that is close to 4000lbs, 2.0L is a very small engine, even with boost. 30MPG is great, but you know you'll never reach that real world. Towing you'd likely be worse then the 3.5L as you'd be permanently trying to boost, not to mention the 10%+ premium to go from 87 to 91. The 2.0 EB requires a minimum of 91 Octane. I think with even a small trailer, you'd be getting worse MPG then the 3.7L in my Sport, and paying more for every gallon on top of it. Before I get yelled at again This is just my $.02 (Canadian), not based on anything but the voices in my head. Boost is awesome, low MPG is awesomer, boosting a small engine in a big car only to loose any potential MPG benefits because your constantly revving up the boost, and still don't have any power...in no way associated with anything awesome.
  10. That's what I thought. Thanks! Too bad, its a convenient place to hold stuff...but I'd prefer to keep my power liftgate.
  11. A bike carrier. I think this engine is too small to carry itself let alone towing. I even had an argument with my Ford sales guy when we discussed the 2.0 EB in the Edge, he told me I must have been misinformed as it was the 3.5 EB, the "2.0 EB is too small for an Edge". I don't understand why the Taurus and the Flex have the 3.5 EB, but the Edge is getting the 2.0?? I want to save gas as much as the next guy, if not more as I do 3000KM+ a month, but the Edge is a heavy vehicle, so a 2.0L is going to have to work REALLY hard to move it. It has received some OK reviews so far, but I'm wondering what will happen to the little engine after its been used for a while. My recommendation to anyone looking to get one is to take if for a very long test drive. Perhaps even bring some friends to weigh it down to get a good feel on how it will handle and what the RPM's need to reach to make it move.
  12. I've never seen the little side pocket before. Is this only on the newer run of the 2011's, or does it not come on the ones with the power hatch? P.S. Nice ride ;-) I have it in Black. The only option I don't have is the DVD head rests. Like you, I likely wouldn't have picked all of the options I have, but it was what they had coming.
  13. Its certainly not a true manual, but it can be fun at times. Its great to hold gears to keep you in a power range. My beef though is that the Sport only has the paddles. You can't use them when turning!! I'd prefer to have both, if not just on the stick. The paddles are the biggest part of the marketing gimmick. They can be fun, but not always practical.

    Clunky "lazy" Shifts

Have you been doing a lot more heavy traffic driving lately? If you're issue is the same as mine, it a problem with a solenoid delay, that appears to happen when traveling slow. (in traffic) I never get it when I'm doing normal driving. I had my mapping programming wiped which worked for a while, but its back now. It seems that its learning the wrong way to shift during those specific scenarios.
  15. Seriously guys! This has happened to a few of us, you must not have seen the posts. kenzlf had the dealer state it was the catalytic converter, but I don't think its been long enough since the repair to know. Here is one of them...in fact the one I started, but there is at least one more thread about it as well. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6059-engine-stalled-while-backing-up/ I do think talk about a class action is going a bit far though, it certainly isn't that wide spread of an issue. My issue has never resurfaced..knock on wood!, so I'm not convinced it is even related to kenzlf's issue, but that does sound similar to your problem. Also if its an 07', I don't think you'd have a chance, they'd just say its from use. Its certainly not uncommon for older cars to stall. 07' isn't that old, but its not new. I'd be more inclined to ask for help on resolving the issue as apposed to asking if we know of any deaths.
  16. I don't think they'd have completely different versions. In any case, I'm in Ontario and was one of the first people on the forum to get 2.7, so for sure we've go that one. Its quite buggy though, so I'm just waiting for my next service in about a month to get them to update again. Perhaps we'll have a 2.9 or even a 3.0 by then..
  17. Dude! Rule #1 of forum posting...as a Newb, don't piss of the Moderator. This forum is full of great information, you'll want to be liked in here when your Edge arrives. Akirby is just trying to keep the forums clean so you don't have to scroll through 10 copies of the same pics for no reason to get to the lower posts. Its for your benefit as well. Apologies for the thread jack Tmbubell! Nice ride! I have an 11' Sport in Tuxedo Black. Enjoy!!
  18. I haven't seen any mention of self installs of 2.8. Is this another dealer only update? I already have 2.7 and to be honest, I liked 1.8 better. It sounds like 2.8 may be a good stable release, its gotta be good with the "BJ" code ...but what happened to being able to update this via USB. Did Ford give up on that?
  19. I've been running 2.7 for 3 weeks now and to be honest, I preferred 1.8. Sure it had issues, but I didn't find them as annoying as the ones I have now. Radio turns on following every use of Voice commands. BB 9000 only sync's 50% of the time I use remote start. No problems during a normal start. Radio Display text isn't in sync with 4" screen - i.e. Local Rock station shows "ROCK" on touch screen and "EDUCATIONAL" on 4". No stations line up, it is like they are calling different database keys. System is more responsive, but a lot of text takes a while to display. i.e radio presets only show blank buttons for first min or so. At times they didn't display at all until you switched to them. Some text looks sloppy as the font is too large and text overlaps other items. I think there's more, but I can't remember right now. I tried pulling 29 last night as well and even did a master reset. Nope!! No luck, same issues. Anyone else with 2.7 having these same problems. Is there a 2.8 yet?
  20. Hi Twistid - I've got an 11' Sport and to my knowledge the answer would be NO!! don't step on that!! If your kids are little i.e. 25-50lbs it likely wouldn't cause any issues, but I certainly wouldn't step on mine. They seem quite firm, but still flex easily so I don't believe there is any real support under them. This is certainly just my opinion and not based on any fact, so if someone else knows for sure, please post! I'd like to know myself. The panel itself looks great, but I hate that it collects dirt and muddy crap!!
  21. Just thought I'd post an update that I've still not had any major "klunks", yet. My tranny has seem to have settled in and doesn't seem to be quite as smooth as it had been early on, but that may just be me getting used to it. I still find it much more responsive then it was before. Its almost a bit jumpy, it tends to stay in first/second a bit longer then before, especially at low speeds, so if I'm in traffic it keeps the RPMs a little higher and it'll take off like a rocket when I want it too, but its hard to inch up slowly without it powering forward. Its not a jerk, you can just tell it wants to go! It makes for a slightly rougher, yet more sporty ride. Hey I got the sport, so its what I signed up for. Sorry the service details didn't help you out Wilsons
  22. I agree, but they don't mix the 2. I wish you could get BLIS and the blind spot mirror. You get one or the other. BLIS is neat, but I honestly think that the mirror is more practical. I have BLIS and wish I had the mirror.
  23. I second the TSB info. I have the exact same model, 11' Sport AWD and if my dealer missed a TSB that was supposed to be addressed, even if it was the same fix..."its" gonna hit the fan! I believe there is a TSB for the 10' regarding this issue, perhaps this is what the dealer mentioned. Can anyone here with OASIS access verify for us?
  24. Thanks for the tip on the live2detail.com forum. I'll check it out!
