  1. If that's the case, Navteq must have provided them with some awfully old map data. I have had navteq maps since 2007 and some of the map data on the Edge Nav is as old as my 2007 map, or at least for my area.
  2. That would be strange if Navteq was involved. I have another older Garmin with 3 year old maps from Navteq on the device and they were way more up to date than the maps on the Edge system.
  3. My understanding it was by Telenav. I just received my new Garmin 3490LMT with Navtec maps and they are really up to date (2 streets only about 18 months old are on the new maps). On my Ford edge, streets 8-10 years old are not on the Telenav maps. I wouldn't be disappointed if they did switch to Navtec
  4. I didn't approach it from that angle. You may be correct. I just thought that the Ford Edge was built in Canada and any software would be shipped from the U.S. to Ford Canada and then distributed from their facility to Canadian owners. Oh well time will tell, but it's always fun to speculate.
  5. Yea I guess that first sentence sounded as if I doubted your comment. I sure didn't word that properly. I guess what I meant was 'seeing is believing'. Cheers.
  6. Now that's something I could get excited about if it were a fact. My biggest regret was ordering the Nav. System on the Edge. There isn't one thing I like about that Nav system...especially the maps. In fact I ordered the new Garmin Nuvi 3490LMT (LMT=lifetime maps and traffic) yesterday. Hopefully I will receive it before my trip to Washington, DC and Fairfax, VA. I should also add though, other than a minor problem with the clock/gps sync, everything is working great. I am still on 2.7 and see no need to update until the 'major' release in 2012...(fingers crossed). I do feel for those buyers that have had numerous problems and can understand their frustrations.
  7. Agreed. I'm sure it will be available to all. The flash drive 'available to all' may not be the case. As you said it may have to be a download.
  8. I think this is the quote that may have caused some consternation to Canadian customers...quote from press release..."Early next year, owners located in the U.S. will be mailed a USB flash drive with the software upgrade for installation that they can do at their own convenience."
  9. Is this the "Major" update they were talking about to come out early in the New year?
  10. @waldo I could argue your last post but it wouldn't serve any purpose so the question would be " Why did some Ford Edge Veh. change and others didn't.
  11. Interesting is right! Hope they don't forget their Canadian Customers as well.
  12. My clock has never been correct. But since everything else is working great, I just set the clock manually and turn off the gps sync. The strange thing about the GPS sync, as you mentioned, doesn't seem to be working correctly. For example when I try to sync the clock with gps it switches to Eastern Std Time Zone and the clock shows 1.5 hours behind my time zone which is Newfoundland Standard Time. If it was working correctly using gps, it should pin point my location and correctly show the time zone plus the correct time.
  13. Sure sounds like you have a small 'air' leak around that area. Colder air meeting warmer air will cause that condensation.
  14. Eh Richy is that so you can do a 'Detailing' job lol.
  15. Bit late replying, haven't been on here all summer, but I have to comment and agree with you 100 percent. I have been a gps user since the first personal gps became available and have used dozens of them. The gps (built in's) in the cars are very poor. I have one in the edge and it's the only thing I regret paying extra for. I am a Garmin Nuvi user at present and hardly ever turn on the ford nav system.
  16. The do-it-yourself fix on SyncMyRide is very simple and easy to do. Just takes a few minutes to download and transfer to the car via the USB port. Works great.
  17. I have been having something similar but not quite as severe. I have been (and Ford has been) trying to resolve the problem. I can set manually and leave the GPS setting off and things are great. Mine started in Feb. showing Eastern European Time Zone (in my case 3.5 hours fast). I got an update done (believe it was 2.7) which was suppose to correct the problem but not so. However it did get me closer to my Time Zone. It now show 1.5 hours and Eastern Time Zone. I have been communicating with the dealer and with Ford and so far they are stumped. I haven't been overly aggressive with the issue because my clock remains correct with the GPS setting off and DST on.
  18. I am on 2.4 and since Sirius changed the channels I have had trouble with some of the channels. Sirius tried 3 times to reset but no luck. They requested I call back in a few days for a possible solution.
  19. I used mine on my last car for 4 or 5 years. They said it would be hard to take off when you traded the car. Not so, just applying a bit of heat to the disk and came off without a trace of glue.
  20. Round disk about 2 inches is used for the suction cup on a Garmin GPS. Used instead of attaching the suction cup to the windshield.
  21. I very much like the Ford Edge. The only problem I've had is with the clock/gps sync. It shows the wrong time zone. But it operates perfect manually. (By turning off the gps/clock sync) so not a big deal. Ford is looking for a fix for that problem. I have the 2011 Edge Limited with 2.7 update.
  22. Funny. I started with Western European time (actually same time as London, England), that went for about 3 weeks. Then I got Central Time (2.5 hours) and now I am down to EST (1.5 hours), all this and I barely moved from my home town. Eventually by the time I trade it in I should be in my own time zone. Not serious though, it works great with a manual set.
  23. Wilson, I felt your pain but I did laugh my a** off.
  24. You could be correct. I am not sure what the industry standard is for built-in units, could be something to do with less detail, less clutter and less distraction. Most new GPS are voice operated and with that there should be less distraction. I would like to see a map update for the streets that are already showing. I have found that the telenav maps to be more out of date than navtec. (Ok, got my hardhat on for incoming flack lol).
