  1. I think for the 2015's you will be stuck since the interfaces (buttons) that work with Sync-3 will also change.
  2. Here is the official info on Sync-3I. This may make me want to wait for the 2016 model (I assume the 2015 will be a short run): http://www.autoblog.com/2014/12/11/myford-touch-killed-introducing-sync-3-infotainment/
  3. Here is some news on the Oakville plant. I think they are off on the introduction date though. Oakville is closed for the month of March for what I assume is for upgrading the plant in advance of the 2015. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/ford-build-upcoming-global-edge-141948882.html
  4. 2014 Edge production is a short run 11/18/13 into early March (my dealer confirmed). Oakville appears to be closed for 4 plus weeks after that for what I assume is retooling. You may see some 2015 pilots running around in later on in the spring. See the second page of this link for the Oakville plant schedule: http://www.donlen.com/pdf/ProductionSched.pdf
  5. I was at my dealer getting my Edge serviced and my salesman mentioned that the 2014 Edge will be a short run.
  6. Check the link (page 2), Oakville is indicated as closed the week of 3/10 forward: http://www.donlen.com/pdf/ProductionSched.pdf Ford appears to be investing some $700M in the plant to produce "several new models". Maybe the shutdown is part of that. http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/ford-invests-700m-in-oakville-ont-assembly-plant-1.1860193
  7. Looks like 2014 Edge will be a short run. The Oakville plant looks to be closed the week of 3/10/14 forward. I suspect retooling for the 2015.
  8. I noticed the late production start up date for the 2014 model Edge which makes me wonder if the 2015 (all new) will begin this November bypassing 2014. The lag between 2013 final order and 2014 order acceptance leads me to believe there will be a plant shutdown for re-tooling for the new model. 9. I had no problem with the install or phone paring. What I did have problem is with syncmyride.com. I have a new computer with the newest version of Microsoft IE and had general problems with the site and download. Using Google Chrome got the download to work after several attempts.
  10. Move with some haste. At some point the build-out will be announced and the factory orders will be cut-off. In a normal cycle, the 2014 production would be starting next month already and the order guides would be available now.
  11. The sport trim adds 4 weeks to the order time due to constraints. I don't see a build-out date for the 2013s yet. Being the last year of this generation they may keep them going for awhile.
  12. Does lack of lube cause that to happen? I do apply silicone to those pieces about twice a year.
  13. Get them while you can. This is the last year of production for this generation.
  14. My 2011 Edge LTD with the 3.5 has a slight smell of coolant but the coolant level in the tank has not gone down. I assumed it was from a breather or something like that. Maybe I need to look closer.
  15. No word on the 2013 buildout or when the 2014 will be available. Right now it does not look like spring - Maybe late summer or fall for the "all new" 2014. One thing to expect - No V6 based on past articles.
  16. You may not be able to order one them in March (a 2013) since in the past production years the next model production startup was mid-february. With the 2013 being the last of this platform watch this site for updates on the buildout. http://www.donlen.com/buildstart-trucks-ford.aspx
  17. I would suspect it will be unveiled at one of the upcoming auto shows this spring. Expect the nose to resemble the ford fusion in some manner.

  19. I've averaged as high as 30 MPH on my 3.5 driving under 70 MPH across Illinois which is impressive for a vehicle that size.
  20. Thats why I order the factory option at the last minute I wanted the larger radiator and fans - The do seem to be a bit louder,
  21. As an annual fall task for all my cars I wax under the leading edge of the hood, trunk lid and lower doors in preparation for winter (I live near Chicago). I also wax the wheels and apply silicone to all the seals/weatherstrips including the vista roof. Even when I did this I had a very very small corrosion spot on the lower edge of the passenger rear door. I scraped it a bit and applied some touch-up paint. At least on the lower door it looked like the type of corrosion where two dis-similar metals come together like the outer skin and the inner pannel are different metals and that caused some kind of bonding issue. Also throughout the winter I manage to flush the salt off of the vehicles by spraying the hose along all the door seams and inder the vehicle. Regarding the hood, I noticed that the rubber gasket that runs along the leading edge of the hood tends to hold water so I applied wax to the underside of the hood and applied silicone to the gasket. Next time you wash your Edge upen the hood and check out all the water that runs out.
  22. If you follow the oil life monitor I usually change the oil at 20-30% which is 7K or 8K miles. I run full synthetic (Mobil 1). The factory fill is a synthetic blend. I do change my own oil since the Edge is very easy to do. I really think the only thing to do at 5K or 6K is rotate the tires. My Cadillac CTS will go 10K before the OLM "suggests" a change which runs on Mobil 1 from the factory.
  23. There is a torx screw on each side of the movable glass pannel that supports the back. I wonder if there is an adjustment up or down within that screw? Again if the dealer was to tell me the headliner has to come out I think I would go with tightening up that seal with a bit of reinforcement with the foam backer rod. It should tuck under there nicely. Taking the headliner out would only open a can of worms.
  24. Be careful if buying one on the used market. The side mirrors changed mid model year to the newer version due to wind noise with the older ones.
