  1. I also noticed that production starts next month - See my post in buying/leasing. I suspect its linked to the "all new" 2014s and the plant re-tooling needed or perhaps production will move out of Canada back to the U.S. for the new model. Is Oakville CA confirmed as the plant for the next generation?
  2. I was doing some browsing on some auto leasing sites for factory updates and I noticed that the 2012 Edge's are already built out and 2013 production starts next month (02/13/12). Any ideas as to why the 2013s are coming out already or what the changes might be? Or is the plan to run 2013's early for a longer run in advance of an all-new 2014?
  3. I checked the Ford Parts site (WWW.FORDPARTS.COM) and the headrest change happened with vehicles built after 10/24/2011 since the parts are listed there. What you may need to do is find a 2012 model built after that date with your interior color and do a parts lookup with that cars serial number. I also noticed a seat back part change a bit earlier but I'm not sure why. Add To Cart Headrest Mechanism Ford Series ; Charcoal Black Interior, Howell (B-C); (EW), Cover Only, RH/LH (Front) Call Select a dealer for prices & availability Vehicle Build Date after: 10/24/2011
  4. I also believe the gearing for the 20" wheels is the same as the Edge Sport.
  5. Thanks for the explanation. I thought there was something wrong. There should be an explanation in the owners manual. I almost brought it in thinking there was a problem.
  6. I've taken several trips now in my 2011 LTD AWD and noticed that sometimes when I let-off the throttle around the 50-60 mph range the vehicle feels like the brakes are being partially applied or the transmission is causing exceptional drag. The vehicle seems to s;ow down too quickly. I thought this was some sort of hill-decent but I don't think the edge has that feature. Could one of these TSBs cause this problem? Date Reported: MAY 10 2011 NHTSA Reference: #10039121 TSB Reference: #TSB-11-5-6 Description: FORD: THERE MAY BE A SLUGGISH ACCELERATION OR HESITATION FEELING WHEN ROLLING TO A STOP. THIS WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A HARSH BUMP. *RM Date Reported: MARCH 01 2011 NHTSA Reference: #10039053 TSB Reference: #AS-21769 Description: FORD: IF THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT LACK OF POWER, SURGE, OR HESITATION WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES WILL OVERRIDE ACCELERATION. *RM
  7. I'm using 3M products - Just re-did for the drive home. So far it works well even in rain and 100 plus degree weather
  8. Only the painters tape touches the hood - The duct tape directly covers the painters tape. Removal leaves no residue and it holds in the rain. Overall it lasts for several days and does protect from the bugs and stones.
  9. Just drove 1,100 miles with it and it works great and it does not set-off my radar detector. It takes a bit to ged used to but well worth it.
  10. I have a 2011 Bordoux red LTD and I covered the front edge of the hood with 2 3 inch of blue painters tape covered with black duct tape (from right to keft). It worked! protected the front 6 inches of the hood from stone chips and bugs and it's easy to remove, Plan to re-apply a new covering for the ride home.
  11. Just drove 1,100 miles (Chicago to Wilmington NC) in a 2011 LTD AWD with the 20" wheels 4 passengers full of luggage 70 to 75 MPH with the A/C on and averaged 24 MPG in the flat lands and 23 MPG in the mountains. Just turned 3500 miles on the clock. Overall a nice ride but the sync is a bit buggy. I,m very satisified with the mileage.
  12. I don't think you can order a 2011 anymore. For the auto-park I believe the steering has to be electric powered not hydraulic like the current Edge. Go to Blue Oval News for the 2012 order guide
  13. Depending on how you configured your edge some options/colors are built out for the model year. As an example if you ordered a AWD you're order will go into the 2012 model year schedule.
  14. Go over to Blue Oval News and there is a link to the 2012 order guide. New colors new side mirrors (same as 2011 job 2 plus turn signal indicators), front spoiler color matched to the car plus ecoboost 4. 10 way power seat on passenger side (limited)
  15. Edge Sport (K3A) may increase lead time by 4 weeks or more AWD (K4G, K4J, K4K, K4A) models have been built out for the model year and are no longer available to order Bordeaux Reserve (FQ), Earth Metallic (HS), Red Candy (U6) and Tuxedo Black (UH) paints have been built out for the model year and are no longer available to order AM/FM Single CD/MP3 Capable (58Z) has been built out for the model year and is no longer available to order. It will be available in limited quantities for the 2012 MY
  16. Yes - All computer controlled per sensor inputs
  17. 2 months into our loaded 2011 AWD LTD - We love it.
  18. 2011 AWD LTD - Had it 2 months and the wife loves it. It's her ride. No issues and the MPG is pretty good for a vehicle this size.
  19. Re-circ only runs for a short duration since it will get too dry in the vehicle. Also most climate control systems also have a solar load sensor located in the center of the dash top that is also a input parameter to the climate control.
  20. Go to syncmyride.com and follow the download/update instructions
  21. My Edge rides great with the 20" wheels - FYI sometimes the dealer really airs up the tires causing a hard ride. The one you test drove may have been the same way. Mine was delivered with 45 LBS (its suppose to be 35 lbs) in the tires and I noticed it right away. FYI 20 and 22" wheels will continue just the wheels will get lighter. MY CTS is available with 19s. Corvettes age offering 20s, Also if I remember correctly Edge with 20" wheels have a slightly higher final gear ratio (I think the same as the sport) for a little extra zip. See 2011 Ordering Guide http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-ford-edge-ordering-guide/full/#2815870
  22. Nu-finish might be too abrasive - I have something from 3M called finess-it. I may give it a try or I have something for sinks (from Franke) I may try that,
  23. 2011 with a 2012 engine - http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/06/2011-ford-edge-ecoboost-quick-spin-review-road-test/
  24. Go to Autoblog and see the review (do a search). Its is due 2012 but production begins late July. When it is available who knows (late introduction?). Also AWD will not be available in that configuration. I read somewhere they are going for 30MPG but having problems getting there.
