  1. The door to the idiot farm defininitely was left open here. This rainy weather is making everyone crazy. AGAIN yesterday driving home in rushhour traffice got to the light I mentioned before and some guy stopped a line of 25 cars to sit at the green turn arrow. :banghead: They really should make an emocion just like this one but against a steering wheel.

ahahhaa... maybe Allen can find one to add, because that would be too fitting.

  2. Tried the install, same issue 39mm only fits cargo light so im going to order 42mm.

Unfortunately one of the contacts broke off of the dome light and I will have to replace the light fixture itself anyone know where I can order the fixture?

    Thanks

Check eBay, Junk yards then, move onto the dealer as your last resort.

I heard some noise about this being a part that is shared with other cars, you might want to check up on that.

  3. Yes it has the same dual exhaust tips. As far as its smoothness compared to a naturally aspirated motor, turbo charged engines have their own funny way of running. They are not smooth, the power comes on fast and strong as the RPMs increase.

My last car was a 420 horsepower Dodge Charger RT moderatly modified. I dragged it for an entire season and took 3rd place overall. Gas guzzling pig though and I do a lot of traveling now with my mountain biking team so I needed something to suit this hobby.

Turbo charged motors though, in my opinion, are fun lively power plants. I test drove the V6 Edge before I test drove the turbo and I liked the turbo a lot more. It is more reponsive initially, has more intant low end torque and is much faster when the gas pedal is pressed to the floor. The V6 is smoother but is lack luster and dull.

I took the Edge to Miami the day I bought it and averaged 33 mpg on the highway during the 60 mile trip. Good gas mileage AND decent power with a fun lively engine....I love it!

    Sounds delicious.

My last car before the Edge was a 5-Cyl turbo (2.3) and I do miss the way the torque piles on.

Makes me want to pick up a 2013 EcoBoost Edge or MKX after this lease is up...

  4. It is a rainy miserable day here today which makes traffic bad enough already. I was driving to work today and was behind not one but three different cars on the way that stopped for green lights. Just stopped waiting for a different shade. And this is on 50 mph roads so not a good surprise.

Also, there is a red light camera close to home. I have noticed a pattern lately of people making a full stop before proceeding to turn left on the green arrow. ???

Ironic, the idiots must have been let out recently.

Same thing this morning, I had to SLAM on my brakes because the lady in the car in front of me wanted to stop before the light even turned yellow O_o.

In CA, they've been adding a countdown timer to the "don't walk" because people (pedestrians) can't follow directions. Apparently there are some idiots that think it applies directly to the cars on the road too.

  5. I just ran into the same problem. Just bought a 2009 limited with 20" wheels.

I am a bit pissed at the dealer, we specifically talked about going to the snow and the need for chains or cables.

I have been doing a bit of research and found this product.

    http://www.etrailer....TH02230K67.html

They are expensive, but look like the would solve the clearance problem with the strut.....

    Urgh.....

I've seen those around on a video somewhere before. Great idea, but at that price, I would opt for some cheap 17s or 18s and not risk your bigger wheels to being scratched up.

I'm definitely happy that I stuck to my guns and got the 18s, because I don't see myself shelling out that much for chains or spare rims.

  6. If the offsets are similar (2mm is nothing), then the only thing I'd be concerned about is the center bore. IIRC, the 2007-2010 Edges have a rather large hub diameter, meaning that most likely the center bore on OEM Mustang wheels is smaller and might not fit.... but check it out to make sure.

    Found the thread: http://www.fordedgef...gemkx-hub-size/

If this is the case, (that the Edge centerbore is larger) you can just have a machine shop bore out the rims to match the hub.

At least the Edge hub isn't smaller. In that case, you'd need some custom spacers/hub adapters

  7. Just a heads up on a possible design flaw,I hand washed my 2008 Edge this summer, about 3 hours later I pulled it in the garage to change the oil. After I jacked up the front of the car I noticed 3" puddles of water in front of the rear wheels, it came out of the ends of the rocker panels. I see this as a potential serious rust problem. I'm going to do an inspection of the rocker panels and possibly create some drain holes.

    That's not too comforting...

Let us know what you end up finding/doing.

  8. My Edge is only about 2 years old..and after giving my baby a bath today I noticed the Ford emblem on the grille is looking rough...the blue is literally chipping off. I have never honestly seen this happen, and I was wondering either how to replace it or if I will have to replace the entire grille...(if you can't tell..I'm new to fixing up vehicles...and don't have much experience..so any advice helps.)

Sounds like the dealer should be handling this under warranty still.

  9. 1. People who don't have lift/elevator etiquette and think it's normal to push their way in without first letting others out! (I like to press all the buttons as I leave just to piss them off.

    2. People that don't use indicators! I once thought that I had a sixth sense or some extraordinary ability to predict the future …..but I don't. Use your indicators! They come as standard…. not optional!

    3. People who say double negatives. e.g.: I aint seen nothin! Huh? Oh you mean…..I haven't seen anything?

    4. People that think "kindly" is an alternative to saying "please". Hey….it isn't!

    5. People who say "erb" instead of "herb"! The H is not silent in English people! The exception is for our French speaking friends. :)

Don't get me started with the elevator etiquette....please!

And the signalling thing... what's worse than NOT signalling? Signalling AFTER you do something! You're supposed to signal your intentions, not what you just did .25 seconds ago. rant2.gif

  10. Yep and I've never seen any scratches in my paint in the sun. I'm not saying they aren't there, but they're certainly not visible to the casual observer.

I think the cloth strip type automatic car washes are relatively safe and a reasonable alternative to hand washing for most consumers.

That's true that it's all in the eye of the beholder. I guess, I observe things at a less casual angle than most. Maybe I can save some money by using a weaker prescription on my contacts

  11. I haven't had my '11 Limited for long but I don't feel any need to upgrade the factory system. For me, this is unusual. I think the speakers are well matched and carry the load well.

On another note, has anyone noticed that the system sounds best (from the driver's seat) with the fader biased toward the rear about 2 clicks?

I'll have to try that balance out.

  12. ...

And don't even take it to a touchless car wash either unless you can help it. They use very harsh detergents that will strip away any paint protection you have applied.

    ...

I've been told the same. The touchless is good if you want to strip all the protection off when starting new or applying something that requires absolutely 'clean' paint.

I won't let anything or body use anything other than a microfiber towel to dry it by touch.

  13. Agreed, while it looks nice, it reduces the visibility. Just last week I almost rear ended a guy in a Tahoe who had tinted his taillights...were so dark the brake lights looked like his running lights...I would have been very upset if my new MKX was damaged due to someone trying to look "cool".

At least you'd have that bit of argument on your side, that his light were not to spec.

  14. Bob, you would be amazed if you saw my phone. All of my texts are correctly capitalized and punctuated.

I die a little inside when I see "Drive Thru," "Lite," and "Ketchup."

Why ketchup? Heinz spells it that way. And IMO, they are the leading Ketchup authority.

I die when I see "Catsup". Or a restaurant that serves NON-Heinz in Heinz bottles. Now that irritates me!

  15. Yesterday afternoon just after 4 pm I was behind a pickup truck that had tinted tail lights. I could barely see his brake lignts or turn signals. A potentially dangerous situation.

There's more people on the road with busted bulbs than tinted lights.

I've seen cars roll around with ALL 3 brake lights out. O_o

  16. Thanks for the info, will adding the retrofit void warranty? And thanks for the smart comment and no useful input a**

I'm not sure about your comment after the question, so I'll ignore it.

The retrofit will only void warranty of the headlights. If you bought a new set and modded those, they would have no clue if you reinstall the OE set should anything go wrong.

Magnuson Moss warranty act states that any installed item must be proven to have caused the failure to void the warranty. And that does not mean the whole car is no longer warrantied; only the part that failed due to modification. So, if your headlights fail, you have to deal with it. If your engine fails, it's not related.
