Just got some 39mm Festoons in the mail for my 2011 SEL and tried to install them. They fit the rear cargo light just fine but the round metal ends are way to small to fit tight in the rear dome. Where did I go wrong? I've got them working with a few wraps of good old aluminum foil but I'd rather order the right size.
Just squeeze the contacts together before installing. It will bend the little metal "prongs" so they are a smaller diameter.
I squeezed mine down until they touched or almost touched (w/light off) and they spring back to a good solid size for grabbing the 39mm.
EDIT: (just in case) squeeze the contacts on the socket, not the bulb

Thanks for the info!!! And if the program is an app I can download, I would love to have it!
One question....when you said you could not hear music when the volume on your phone is set to 0, I'm assuming that is the music you are playing through your phone, right?? Unlike most of you, I'm about as techno-literate as a slug but I'm pushing on and keep trying (keep your fingers crossed!). When I am playing the car radio with the Android connected to the Synce I have the car radio volume set to about 30%, however, when a call rings in or I make a call I have to jump the volume up to max or I can not hear a single thing. Once the phone call disconnects the radio volume drops back down to its original setting, however, on the next phone call I have to jump it back up to max in order to hear. Is this a common problem or do I have a gremlin in my system?
Katherine
I have a two-fold fix for you:
Download App called Audio Guru (Free) . It allows you to change all your various volume levels independently (and use profiles if you fancy)
Then, for your Bluetooth volume issue, get on a call where you can make changes on your phone and SYNC and not be bothered with banter (Banking comes to mind). While on the call, adjust your volume knob on your Car (SYNC) to about 1/3 (this will set your car's phone volume). Then grab your phone and toggle the volume key up to MAX. You should see a blue Pop up that shows "BT media volume" or something to that effect (this will set the volume that the phone feeds to SYNC).
Let me know if that works. If not, PM me and I'll walk you through something else.

This is the mount on the right side of center stack. It grabs onto the silver trim and stays put great. I'm able to remove it with no problems (I didn't use the dbl sided tape it came with)
I bought a black iPhone cable and routed it to the USB port. Nothing fancy. It just comes out of the armrest and the lid has no problem shutting with it there.
Thanks for the pic. Is that an iPhone only mount? Mind sharing product details?
BTW, I +1'd you on this latest post, cuz it looks like someone is just hammering all your posts with -1s no matter what you said.

Yeah, that was a joke. Dingo lives about 5 miles from me. I don't actually want the speaker.
I know... you share a dealer (and possibly other things )
-
If I bought it would I get free shipping?
Free local pickup I would assume

...but what it says is a $1000 option on SEL, but standard on LTD and Sport.
Let's ask this way: Does anyone here have an SEL that has MFT w/ Nav and backup cam?
It's in one of the packages... 202A IIRC

They also get kickbacks from Ford Credit on a finance - that's why there were pushing it (in addition to your potential $1K rebate).
I did that with my Fusion - financed it to get the rebate and dealer spiff, then refinanced with my bank after 3 months.
OP:
Golden advice here from Allen (akirby) .
Additionally, tell the dealer to lower the price by $750 and you'll consider using Ford Financing... otherwise, there's another vehicle on another lot (even if there isn't) that you'll pick up.

$20 plus shipping?
Sounds interesting.. PM sent.

I got tired of the factory speakers. I replaced the center dash speaker. Unfortunately, there's only one and you can't buy single speakers. Anyone want to buy the other badass speaker in my garage, or should I just keep it as a spare?
How much?

The ones they're working on now. Total revamp of Lincoln starting with the dealerships and dealer experience followed by 7 vehicles with 100% unique sheetmetal, drivetrains, interiors and new luxury features. Word is the new MKZ is stunning and resembles an Aston Martin more than a Ford. I expect a lot more luxury features for Lincoln now that Mercury is gone and they've committed to making Lincoln a true luxury brand.
Thanks for the heads-up. This is kind of perfect timing; I think I'll be ready to move up market when these cars come around.

Bought 7-29-11 Edge Limited everything expect lightrd door sills 34,600 plus TTL MSRP WAS 41,500. Drove 4 hours worth the drive. All dealer around could only put me in SEL for 35,100 . The radar system, vista roof, bliss system, cruise adaptive speed control. What a great SUV.Took the wife out off that mustang so she happy now.
Now that's some good shopping.
What color?

For oil changes... get a creeper no need to lift the vehicle.
For things REQUIRING lifting of vehicle, jack each side at a time and put a stand under each side.

Our 2003 Aviator had the tilt rear view mirrors in reverse. Worked great.
I bet the new Lincolns get them (along with retractable full glass roofs, electronically controlled suspensions and push button/electronic gear selectors).
And a working My Lincoln Touch.
Which new Lincolns are these?

Most likely to be an issue with the cooling fans if it works while driving. How's your engine temperature when idling?
I agree If its not cool when not moving, the fans are not drawing enough air across the condenser to cool it.
Do you hear the fan on when the A/C kicks on?

It may only show up on job 2 and later. Job 1 may not show anything. Or maybe they're not putting it on the window sticker any longer. Not sure.
I have a Job 2, it doesn't say it explicitly on my window sticker. The build date is on there however and (if I'm not mistaken) all March 2011 on were Job #2

I am seriously considering just having all 4 powder coated because I will damage them again in the future.
Any pictures of Sport 2011's with different color wheels?
Powder coat will not help your issues. They will just chip the same.
I like the tilt reverse idea, there's a gotta be a way to get that working.
Just found this:
http://www.kptechnologies.com/products.php?year=Universal&make=Universal&model=Universal
Scroll down to universal reverse tilt module (standard = one mirror $60 , deluxe = both mirrors $100)

Can someone who has the backlit doorsills tell me if it was worth it? Are they integrated with the ambient lighting or a totally seperate feature? What do they do exactly? Can they be added after-market? Thanks!
I don't have them, but as of 2011s they are only illuminated and not matched to ambient lighting colors as one would hope.

Kat for what it's worth, your dealer wasn't fully lying....
The reason is on Android phones, you can control the BT audio output volume at the phone level and that does not mess with the car's volume except that it feeds magnitude to that line. (Try toggling the volume keys on your phone when on a BT call and you'll see a blue volume pop-up that's different from your standard "ringer" volume pop-up)
What I mean, is that it is like having a Walkman plugged into the audio input. There's a control on the Walkman AND the car. If you turn down the input (Walkman or Thunderbolt), the volume will decrease overall. Also, if you have the input device on 0 (zero) volume, you could have the Sync's BT volume all the way up and it will still be silent.
I have a program on my phone that automatically turns the BT volume to a specified level (~85%) when it detects connection to SYNC via BT. I did this because I sometimes found that my phone's BT volume was sometimes down to almost 0% and I would not hear the music or call and would have to manually turn it up.
Hope that's not confusing, I can re-word if so.

I know this is a old thread but I just noticed on my center console which is silver is also coming off and it's black underneath.
Can you post a pic for us?

For those who are interested this company has a VIM module for the MyTouch. http://www.navtv.com...ytouch-vim.html
Nice find. But for that money, I could get a tablet with mounts and a bunch of accessories. I wish there were a $100 option, but even then, I wouldn't use it enough to justify even that.

You guys don't plan to roll your vehicles? wow... that's the first thing I plan.
-
I agree with you. I was trying to decide between the two. Just this morning I saw an article about all of these changes. They are significant so I think at this point it is the way to go. Not getting a very good deal on an 11 anyway so why sink a bunch of money into one at this time.
I still see Ford making leaps in quality under Mulally for the next few years especially. So later cars will be only be better. Makes me want to finish this lease (on 4/1/2013) and grab a 2013 or 2014 at that time.

Newer crappy maps .. yay!
(sorry, I'm a bit pessimistic today)

I purchased a new 2011 MKX in late July. I had 2.11 installed on the vehicle before taking delivery. 2.11 is confirmed on sync my ride. At first, things were mostly good but every day a new little problem semmed to develop. Today the car has a black screen and I guess I am calling service. I do not beleive 2.11 is the advance this board is making it out to be. Just another "fix" until the rewrite that I HOPE is coming.
It's going to evolve like Windows did apparently and I won't be happy with it until 3.1.1
Piddly but annoying... cargo cover

I keep a utility blanket that I got on the cheap in there.
It's good for covering things if I feel compelled, but most importantly it saves from scratches on the interior when I haul dirty and/or large heavy items.
