Just purchased a USED 2011 Edge Sport (Tuxedo Black) last week. Fantastic so far. Lots of great comments.
congrats and welcome!

I'd tow it and not think twice, just be smart about it....
for some reason, I find this part of your comment amusing

I have a 2008 ford edge 3.5 v6,hade a coil go out lost power on I-95 took to a dealer 200 miles from home, rented a car to get home 1 week later my vehicle was ready. My bill was 1071.50 The seavice tech. said ford said to raplace all 6 coils, the pcm was warrenty, the coils they said is not covered. My complaint is if the pcm caused this problem the whole bill should have been at FORD;s expence, they do not want to help me, this edge only has only 52000 milies.
Lawyer up with one that specializes in warranty claims and lemon laws.

I think most people are missing the point of this thread.
Ford and all other manufactures are charging an unbelievable amount of money for what is basically an unfinished aluminum wheel with a plastic hub cap glued on.
I would love to see the profit margin for this 1 upgrade.
ab
Yes, I agree.
But when I think of it from their point of view (Ford's), that extra margin can allow the company to "not skimp" in some other area. Corners are going to get cut in car manufacturing and I would rather it be in an area that doesn't have real effect. This plastic "hubcap" as we call it has shown mostly problems in the area of expectations rather than performance.

To be fair, you insulted his profession with your 'stealership' comment which was neither correct nor necessary.
L1TECH has been very helpful in other threads. This one had already been diagnosed by everyone else.
Let's call it a draw and move on.
Ok... just for you though

$27 each, or the pair?
Each, out the door = 27
I was showing 2 pics for reference of the back
And my thread subs are not email anymore... anyone else notice that?

For my 2¢, I would say forget about it with your present rig. Of course, there is boat towing and there's boat towing. If you're not going very far and it's just to dump the boat in for the season, I would think you could squeak by. If on the other hand, you will be towing the boat several times a year. get something else, especially if there are hills involved. I have a Flex ECO pulling a smaller boat (probably around 3000 lbs or more including the trailer) and it pulls the boat fine. However, I definitely think I would be better served IF I had electric trailer brakes. The trailer has inertia brakes which I question. If I have to stop quickly, I need plenty of room. More than once, my heart started beating faster when I wondered if I would be able to stop. So, I don't go too fast and try to leave plenty of room in front in case I do have to hit the binders.
I don't know what kind of boat you have, but 3,600 lbs seems to be light for a 24' boat if the trailer is factored in. Then, there's the liability. If you did have an accident, you can bet if any lawyers are involved, the suitability of your tow vehicle will probably be brought up, especially if braking is an issue. I would also think with a 24' boat, the trailer would be at least 26'. That's a lot of length behind the relatively short Edge and I would think it would sway enough to make you hold your breath some times.
IMHO, get another tow vehicle.
That's solid logic and advice...

Does anybody know where I can get a list of compatible phones with My Ford Touch & Sync. I have a Nokia C2-01 phone and want to know if I will be able to take advantage of MFT features with it.
Look at Nokia's specs for the phone. For BT Messaging, the phone needs to support the MAP profile (Messaging Access Profile) and for the address book it needs to support PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile). Additionally the PAN (Personal Area Network) profile is needed for Bluetooth Tethering.

I think the implication was that it was WAY more complicated than that to actually troubleshoot a bad fan. And since he's a technician I'd take his word for it.
Let's just leave it at that.
That's great that he's Tech, but how about stopping the cryptic messages and actually helping the guy?
Is that what this site is for? or for reading about people's misfortunes and chiming in with no attempt to help?

I have a adata 500gb portable HDD drive model # superior SH93 it works just fine not to mention it's shock proof & water proof & it's windows 7 compliant. I'm plugging it into my 2011 edge sel & it reads it very fast not to mention so far I have over 75gb of mp3 music files on it
Would you mind confirming your File System type and folder structure?
and 75GB ? really? is that all Lossless encoding?

...
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
....
Where'd you get this quote? and can I use it?

My 18s are perfect after 3+ years. And unlike real chrome plated steel - it won't pit.
I had a hard time getting over the plastic rims too.
I just wish they were replaceable.
-
Get a 2012, some nice changes in it. Insulation, 10 way power seat for the passenger, new tailgate fin and a simplified MFT system.
If you get the 20" rims you will get the bigger gear so it will be almost as quick as the Sport.
I considered a sport, looks good but was concerned about the rims and also the snow. Possibly needing winter rims and tires and the possibility of damaging one of those rims is a lot of extra cost. I sure with those sport seats were available on the Limited. They are so nice.
Are you saying ordering the 20" rims will also get you the final drive ratio in the Sport?
EDIT: disambiguation

This weekend got me a new 2011 Explorer, I got the base model, it is pretty decently loaded. No sattelite radio (don't listen to it) and no sync (miss it little bit). What a big difference, this thing is huge from inside compared to Edge. Nice for long distance travel.
Still have the Edge too.
So you have an '11 Edge LTD, an '11 Taurus SEL, and an '11 Explorer?
wow.

Rubber huh? wouldn't have expected that.
Next oil change isn't free, so I guess I'll be seeing that soon.
-
I would say a fix is possible, but I haven't done it myself.
My guess would be remove the headliner and see if you can use a high strength glue (e.g. 3M 99) to reattach...
If you are trading in, you just need to do a good enough job that you can get rid of it.

Another member from the middle east did it (Abu Dhabi, iirc?)
He told me FAT32 and all files in the root of the drive (i.e. not in folders)
-
This thread I outline the ordering. Not as fun as I thought it would be.
I was told 6-8 weeks.
I ordered a Limited AWD
Ingot Silver. I was tempted by the MIneral Grey but it is a bit too brown for my taste. I know the guys here rave about it. Also, the orange peel on the darker colors is obscene.
300A, Black leather, navi, drivers entry, vision package, 20's. I will be looking good.
Awesome! Congrats
-
That's exactly what I ordered. Only problem is that it came with a front license plate bracket against my wishes. Apparently, the ordering system automatically puts it in there. There's a code for the bracket, and a code for the bracket delete. If you don't input either, it defaults to bracket. Fortunately, they found a less endowed white Sport at another dealer, made a dealer trade for it, and swapped lower grille bars.
Yeah, I guess they really are awesome.
So are you still driving the SporTrac around? Says so in your profile.

Thanks C. The squeeze trick worked great. Not that happy with the brightness of these so I just ordered a few 42mm from a different vendor. I read some good things about the Dealextreme 9 led Festoons so for $2.70 each I grabbed a few. Don't mind the "Slow Boat" cuz I'm never in a hurry!!!
I got a set of those but from an eBay seller iirc that weren't so bright, but the DX one's may be different.
BUT I did get something from DX that was pretty sweet for $4:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/white-smd-2-3-6-led-cabin-dome-door-glove-box-light-12v-12743
They just fit in each pocket and come with a handful of connectors so you could put the lights in all sorts of sockets. I have the extra sockets in a bin for my next projects.
Only 6 LEDs, but brighter than the 9 LED cheapie I got from eBay

That has to be the most idiotic comment ever
Oh?
Do tell.

Sorry! She is FWD. The total MSRP is $39,945.00. It also came with the all weather mats and 20" chrome-clad wheels. I had never heard of anyone doing things that way. You know, if they would have just said we get a piece of the pie and will help you out with X amount fine and dandy. But it was no, we will not take off anything but we want you to do the finance here for $1000 and saying that was all for me. I had 3 people coming to me telling me this was best for me and pushing for me to finance through them. They just was too strong arm about it for me to be comfortable with it. THEN (and this rubbed me wrong) one said maybe he should talk to DH about it. Not the thing to say!
First dealer I went to tried those games. I smelled BS a mile away.
I had to find a dealer about 60 miles away from me, but it was worth it. I got the car I wanted without the games. And best of all, I left feeling I was treated fairly.

Im not sure on the fan motor, its my wifes car so dont drive it much.....engine temp is fine as it does it even after cold crank first thing out of the garage...got to be the fans then huh? What kind of ballpark price wise am I looking at for that repair? My dealer wants to charge 100 to diagnose it
Diagnosis on that part = Turn on A/C... listen for fan. $100? Earning the "Stealership" title for sure.
Amazon has the part for <$140 bucks if it turns out that is the cause. http://www.amazon.com/TYC-622040-Replacement-Radiator-Condenser/dp/B0041TNK44
This one says 2010 and older...
Fan should be an easy job for any shade tree mechanic and won't take longer than an hour or two at the most.
I think my dash is made of Teflon...

Just thought about it... did you treat your dash with UIGP?
I'm pretty sure you were the one that recommended it. (I've been using it as well as UPGP)
